  1. No, it wasn't quite that bad. I watched the video and decided I didn't want to go to my muster station, so I didn't. I got a knock on my cabin door at around 9 PM. It was Captain Giovanni himself !! He threw a velvet hood over my head and I then found myself in the ships chain locker. I was there for hours with nothing to eat but day old sushi. Next cruise I'll be sure to attend muster. I can still taste that fish.
  2. The ship docks near town, but I would definitely book an excursion. I did the one through VV where you ride the cable car and also get lunch. It was great. We had a nicely air conditioned small bus of about 20 and it even had wifi. Our guide was very interesting and enthusiastic. It was reasonably priced too.
  3. I got to the port at around 12PM for a 1:30 PM line. After giving my bag to a porter I sat on one of the round concrete bollards and read my book. Two or three port employees (in VV uniforms) asked me at different times if I'd like to take the shuttle to Bayside. I just said no thanks, I'm a local and have been there more times than I care to. They were all polite and just went and asked someone else. That was about it. As a matter of fact, one was very cool and hung out talking to me for awhile. His name was Yakov and showed me pictures on his phone that he took on opening day when Richard Branson was there.
  4. Bayside is nice to see, but IMHO, not on embarkation day. I like to UBER to the port and sit my fat butt down and read until my time is called. If I have to worry I’ll be late getting back, I wouldn’t enjoy either experience.
  5. The short answer is yes, you will fit in. Have a great cruise!
  6. If they let me eat in The Wake dressed like this, your husband will have no problem. 🀣
  7. It's not a party ship, but you can do as much or as little as you like. Nothing forced...nothing judged. Just good food and a really nice atmosphere. The crew is happy and you will be too!
  8. I had deck 14 just under the gym and it was a little noisy in the morning when people wotked out lifting (and dropping) weights and also when the DJ was working...but quite quiet at all other times. That said, I would prefer 13 or lower next time. Internet basic was fine for casual Whats App phone calls with video but would not trust it for Zoom...especially if it were client related. Don't let any of this deter you....you will love it!
  9. I'm with you. Do you do small roller luggage or backpacks or both?
  10. I can't believe this thread is still going strong...πŸ˜†πŸ€£πŸ˜‚
  11. If all they had were burgers/fries I would have skipped it. I think they should up their game at Bimini. Of course the food needs some sprucing up, but IMHO, the curry chicken was different and fun and the rum cake was a welcomed finish. I would definitely eat there again, but some diversity would be appreciated.
  12. That you are going to have a great time!
  13. Nice job....brought me right back. 😊
  14. The best part for me was the pro roller skater 😝
  15. I have always been an advocate for workers in these types of employment. They should be treated fairly and well compensated in salary as well as health benefits. I never concurred that tipping was one of the ways to get there. To me, it always seemed to benefit the employer and to foster neglect to the backbone of the organization...the "rank and file" so to speak. Just add extra to the final price that is paid by the end consumer. Don't lull me in with a lower price, only to bombard me with add ons later. Many cruise line do as a standard operating procedure. The brilliant end quote to this post sums up my feeling perfectly....Bravo yarramar!
  16. I was cruising solo and I'm not a fan of communal dining either, but ate at the Test Kitchen counter twice and it was fine. There is usually a staff member doing something interesting to watch, and even easier for two to blend in. The one time I had a couple next to me they were really just interacting with each other. Gunbae was much more like being assigned to an MDR table where you socialize with other pax.
  17. Apologies if I wasn't totally clear in my original question. I was just looking for passengers personal accounts of rough weather that happened to occur on Virgin ships.
  18. Guess I'm behind the times. Haven't cruised for ages until Scarlet Lady last June. I gave him $2 for a single bag. Not saying it was anything but a coincidence, but my bag never arrived at my room on time. Tag was missing and I got it 4 hours late. Just sayin'... Next time I'm giving $5 πŸ€‘ LOL!
  19. Is there a part of the app now that will let passengers know what it says?
  20. Thanks for the excellent review. You were spot on and your review will provide many with an accurate idea of what it would be like to be a sailor on Virgin. Cheers!
  21. I sailed Scarlet Lady last June and the seas were as calm as can be. I'd like to hear from sailors on all VV ships if you have had any really rough seas during your cruise? Where and how long did it last?
