Don’t change your wardrobe … all you mentioned is good… even for”formal “ nights! I can’t remember exactly what the 1st showtime is, but it does repeat at 9;00 usually. Personally, hubby and I love “my time” dining at a table for 2. Tables are so close together that you can easily share conversations with others or keep to yourself without being antisocial. Enjoy the Radiance… a smaller ship in today’s market, but still so enjoyable and relaxing… not at all overwhelming

I agree about being ready for any weather but certainly not frigid winter weather during cruise season. We cruised in mid June, including a sun splashed Denali visit and a resurrection bay cruise out of Seward. Thin, easy to pack sweater , a cheap knit hat, and a hooded, waterproof windbreaker were our go-to favorites. 50-70 degree weather is tolerable. Add an ocean breeze and some rain to add the chill factor and you’re still not in blizzard conditions! ( perhaps I should mention that we’re NewEnglanders so summer In Alaska was like a decent October, November or March day for us! 😉)

Anyone seen this show while in Skagway? Opinions? Do we need to book ahead of time or is day-of possible?

Does anybody know where the RCCL Radiance might dock at Icy Strait Point? Apparently there are 2 options…Ocean Landing and Wilderness Landing. On maps I only see dock numbers 1-4.

We needed an arriveCAN app on a cruise last summer that started in Iceland, stopped in 2Canadian ports, ended in Boston. Is that app no longer needed and/or do I need more than my passport to disembark in Vancouver to fly back to US?

The description says the buses from the bake depart back to the ship frequently so one can linger there at will. No mention of time allotted at the Mendenhall Visitors Center. So I am wondering if anyone knows if lingering at the visitors center is optional as well during the excursion… might buses depart frequently to Gold Creek salmon bake??? I am thinking I’d like to walk to the Nugget Falls from the v. center if time allows.

It’s fine with me too, but seems so unnecessary considering the effort. ( Of course a wine connoisseur may find the effort worthwhile despite the ship having several selections.)

Seems to me that carrying on wine, water etc would be a heavy burden and take up packing space. If I am spending $$$ for a cruise, I would factor in the purchase price on board. Can the added cost on the overall vacation price be that overwhelming? How much does one really save BYOB? water is plentiful and fine.…refill your carry on bottle. By the way, any drinks ordered on board can be taken back to your cabin… or anywhere on board.

Cruise line not specific, but to me, the size of the ship might make a difference. The smaller ships to Alaska may go closer to the glaciers/ inlets. All should have some sort of ranger/guide on board to describe what you’re seeing. Ports may vary, but cruises usually include the main/ bigger towns, as well as smaller ones…all ports will give you an Alaska experience. A pricey cruise, so go to experience this beautiful state and its stories. In my opinion, it’s a great experience for all. I would like kids to see, listen and learn! They can have a theme park experience anytime!

A previous post mentioned $$ for some crab purchase while on a cruise ship excursion. They have the cruise schedule so they know arrival times. You “have done their tour twice,” so I feel even more confident it’ll be good!!

Booked over the phone. 👍😊 A little less $$ than the cruise ship’s excursion. A VIP ticket for additional $$ is also offered directly, but not on the cruise ship excursion. So with that it totals a little more.

Above comments should be reassuring. Just adding my few cents: Yes, cabin cleaning begins very early, and not by just the daily steward. They have help from staff from different departments. The crew helps crew! For example: the casino staff does not get time much off during turnaround. Some help with cleaning some areas, luggage handling, restocking… The waitstaff from various venues also chip in. We recently learned that after the MDR closes each night, it is cleaned and fogged, so staff is often there well after midnight! So fear germs, but don’t obsess! Your taxi ride, flight and hotel rooms might be just a bit less clean. 😲🤣

Yes, go early…6-6:30… when the early seated folks are finishing up and heading out. Did this every night recently on Enchamtment and got the same table or at least same waiter. Also, ASAP once on board go straight to MDR and make preference known. Did so, asking for table for two near a window. So noted and success!!

Done it? Booked it thru RCCL? A bit pricey, but worth it?

Opinions again….Trying to decide… Lands End Inn or Beluga Lake Lodge. Lands End…resort style? Beluga Lake…rustic? Both clean ? Better location to town?

Looking for specific description for a deck 8 balcony (near the elevators around 8104area). They look like the balcony may be spacious, but is end to end ship view limited by the “hump”?

Took this excursion recently from Royal Caribbean. Not impressed. Pricey for the experience. Catamaran was not the fun sail boat that I enjoy and perhaps mistakenly expected, but rather a motor boat. The train ride is on an OLD sugar cane train and route which is VERY bumpy, so not at all good if you have any back issues. Scenery is of a pretty barren landscape with a few glimpses of the ocean which is nice. Sugar cane is no longer grown here on most of the island. The “entertainment “ of a few costumed dancers was very brief and the same you might see around the port for free. Rum punch was good. 😉 Obviously just my opinion, but just wish to inform that it is quite an uncomfortable train experience.

Maybe a little off subject here, but looking for inexpensive/no frills but clean accommodation in Anchorage before road trip to Seward.…perhaps near airport in order to get a rental car and head out early the next day. Motel 6. ? 😉 (Not going into Anchorage this trip.)
