  1. Sorry, no curtain…..only Royal class ships have them.
  2. We’ve sailed on Royal Princess, sister ship to Regal, many times. Lovely ship and not too large. Food was always quite good. I love the International Cafe! Entertainment is not bad, depending on what you enjoy. Lots of little lounges all over to relax and have a drink. My husband is a Brit, so he’s familiar with all of the ports. My first time to Scotland and Ireland and I’m so excited. My husband says the scenery is breathtaking and he’s looking forward to sharing it with me. We have excursions booked for all except for Portland. We will get the bus into Weymouth, where I’ve been to previously. A lovely seaside town with lovely little shops and cafes and a Boots! Wishing you and your family a sincere Bon Voyage! Please report to us when you back and let us know about your adventures!
  3. I’m a Grey Goose girl, myself, and I would be mortified lol! By the end of the cruise if the label says “ Vodka” I’m good.
  4. We’re also doing the British Isles itinerary in September 2024 on Regal Princess. It’s a port intensive cruise, so you’ll be spending most of your time on excursions or walking around new ports of call. There won’t be loads of extra time to get bored. Once you return back to the ship, usually everyone wants to have a drink and some snacks and relax before getting ready for dinner. After dinner, Princess does offer numerous entertainment venues for all ages. You’ll see what’s available each night in your daily Princess Patter. Honestly, the time flys on these cruises. I’m sure your nieces will meet up with young people in their age group and you’ll never see them! Have a wonderful time with your family!
  5. We’ve never seen anything like that on Princess, Celebrity or HAL in over 40 cruises. Perhaps it was an issue with that particular ship on that sailing. You will not experience anything like you mentioned on your Princess cruise!
  6. We’ve used Blackberry and London Cars. Both very good service. Nice, clean cars and personable, professional drivers. So nice after a long flight to have a car waiting for you.
  7. My sincere apologies. I ordered stateroom flowers last week and I just checked and it is for our HAL Rotterdam cruise not Princess. My senior brain sometimes gets a tad foggy! Sorry.
  8. If you access your booking go to Onboard Services and you will see where you can pre-purchase flowers to be delivered to your stateroom upon embarking.
  9. I’ve brought flowers onto the ship in FLL numerous times with no issues. I have no idea why this happened to your niece, but it’s so disappointing!
  10. You need to post this information on your roll call. Just go to the main page, scroll to Roll Calls, choose your ship and then your sail date. You can connect with all of your cruise mates there. Enjoy your TA…….I love them!
  11. Yes, you certainly can! I’ve done this a few times for special occasions and just love having flowers in our cabin. Enjoy your Valentines Day cruise on The Love Boat!
  12. Another vote for Crown Grill, but Sabatini’s is very good. If you like a steakhouse more than Italian, go for CG. Be sure to ask for all the sides to be shared between you. Our table was full! A little of this, a little of that…..we love it.
  13. Yes, for some aspects of travel the internet can be a valuable tool.
  14. I was thinking the same thing. Before the internet and social media, we sailed on many, many cruises without anyone helping us. We browsed our cruise / travel brochures and just went on our merry way to the cruise port and figured it all out. We were mature, intelligent adults capable of making our own decisions and learning along the way. So much has changed since those days and most of it not for the better.
  15. I would take closed toe shoes with you regardless. Protocols can change at anytime and you wouldn’t want to be disappointed if you were chosen and couldn’t attend because of inappropriate footware.
  16. Yes, this is the correct procedure, but you do not need to tip the Maître D. His job is to make his guests as happy as possible. Sometimes, however, it just can’t be done. If, at the end of your cruise, you feel the need to offer additional recognition in the form of cash, the Maître D will politely accept your gift. We have in the past tipped the Maître D for exceptional service, but it is not mandatory and the amount would be what you feel is appropriate. Enjoy your cruise!
  17. I don’t think it’s Princess cruisers, I think it’s Princess cc members. Onboard, you see nothing even remotely relatable as to what we see here. And only the same members, day after day. I’m sure both of us could make a list and come up with the same names lol. Thank you for answering my question and I’ll close now before I become someone who beats a dead horse. Take care.
  18. I don’t have a problem with folks who sincerely don’t know and want to be informed. That should take maybe one or two answers and done. Here, it takes at least three weeks, three hundred answers and still going. Let’s be honest, it’s the same poop, different day. Nothing helpful, just people constantly bickering. And, it’s the same few people who just can’t get enough, Other cc boards have people asking the same question, but it doesn’t turn into a marathon. People who are new to the Princess boards must wonder what they started by just asking a simple question.
  19. Just an observation. I frequent the Celebrity and HAL boards since we also cruise with these two lines. I cannot remember the last time I saw MDR dress code questions on either one. It’s just not a thing. On the Princess boards, it’s become a daily, or even hourly, topic of discussion. The same people with the same comments, over and over and over. I would love it if someone could kindly explain this phenomenon. Thank you.
  20. Not strict at all. You can wear a tux and gown or jeans and hoodie. Nobody cares anymore and as long as your jeans are not ripped and dirty, you’re fine. You might get turned away if you wear shorts. Be prepared, you will now get 247 answers on what is acceptable and not acceptable in the MDR. Everyone has an opinion on this subject. There is currently a thread with about a thousand responses. You might want to read it, too. Enjoy your cruise, Alaska is fabulous. Grab your popcorn and settle in.
  21. We’re doing this cruise in September and we’re very much looking forward to it. You mentioned that you wanted to sail in either April or May. Keep in mind that these two months will be quite cool and very rainy. My husband is a Brit and has lived that weather in the U.K. Friends of ours went in May last year and wore mittens and hats in the morning. This will certainly impact your enjoyment of your balcony. We booked September because it has the least rainfall, but temps still warm, not hot. Just something to keep in mind. I would not be looking forward to a large balcony in those months. Regal Princess is a lovely ship, but no covered pool. Lots of nice indoor areas to relax. I would choose a cabin based on how much time you intend to be there, as opposed to the size of the balcony. Suites are lovely, but if you don’t drink alcohol or wouldn’t enjoy the other perks, then the Premier package may not be worth it. My recommendation would be the Reserve Collection Mini Suite, which is currently Club Class, or a Premier suite without Plus or Premier package. You know what type of cabin suits you best. The Enclave is lovely and quite often you can get special sales when you’re onboard, especially the first day. There is cigarette smoking allowed in the casino, if that’s an issue for you. You can book excursions whenever they open up and you should book right away, as they tend to book up quickly for this itinerary. If you join your roll call you can connect with others on your sailing who put together excursions privately. Quite often, this is much less expensive, more comprehensive and small groups instead of large buses. Roll calls can be quite fun to share your anticipation. The Medallions act the same as your cruise card, but you can do some fancy stuff, like have food and drinks delivered to wherever you are on the ship. It doesn’t always work perfectly, but it is what it is. We don’t often book full suites (most always mini suites), so hopefully some members here can guide you through that part of your question.
  22. A friend of mine, who is a four star Mariner, takes at least two bottles of liquid coffee creamer on every cruise. Packed well in his luggage, not carry on. Keeps it in the stateroom fridge. Never had an issue, nor did his room steward even question it in his room. I don’t know if he actually takes it with him to the MDR or buffet. He cruised last month and no problem.
  23. The OP’s question was “did YOU tip after the dinner was done?” OP could not know the answer, so question was legit. Kindness goes a long way.
  24. Actually, when I go to Princess online the deck plan does not show deck names, just numbers. Perhaps you have been able to get different deck plans. Could you please share how you did it, because I would be really interested. Thanks so much!
