  1. Ok maybe that is why they posted a 2nd post, rather than answer. I assumed was the same post. Same author. OP welcome to cc.
  2. Oranges are green in hawaii if the weather doesnt drop below a certain temperature. Some grown up higher had less problems but they cant be grown along the coast and turn orange. It's a matter of temperature. Same oranges, just not the same color due to temperature where they are grown. Color doesnt mean they are a different type.
  3. Not sure what Brazilian bananas are but in hawaii I loved the apple bananas there. Lived there 10 years. So sweet and good. Much better tasting than a regular but large banana.
  4. I've taken women with me on cruises I paid for, just asked them if they would pay their own extra expenses. .. so can I get a extra point for paying for them? I agree it's going too far to worry about others and who paid their fare if they should get pts for days they actually cruised. I've taken at least 4 other women since the cabin is paid for anyway. Im solo and paid double. I should have been diamond a while ago on carnival too.
  5. I was a little surprised employees had to buy their own clothes for special things. Not even sure how it came up though I do often talk to the crew. Those caribbean shirts they wear they buy themselves. Very proud of them so compliment them when you see one you like. Wonderland that uniform to me a little more complicated so I was surprised they are expected to pay for that too. Costs more than wifi. I'm sure it is a hard job. No doubt about it. As far as those McDonald workers mentioned above jan 1st 25 states raised minimum wage for 2024. Used to be a kids job not supposed to support a family. Times have changed. I think we can all agree working on a cruise ship is hard work. Im not sure we all agree what extra is necessary for rcl to provide.
  6. Can we please not hijack and make this yet another tipping thread. Please? I've seen quotes like mine for 1 pax and another for 4 pax. Adding in tips just confuses the price. Put it as a separate line item if you need to see how much 18 x 1 x 13 days is for mine... .. though imo my deal being for may 2025 ... since I pay tips onboard, never before tips could easily go up again. Stating how much tips are now as a line item so you are happy might not be accurate by the time I actually cruise. Only you seem to want a separate input for tips NOW, when they could change. Please can we just post deals and not keep talking auto tips. Surely your math skills are enough we can be allowed to post what we are paying before we board for the cruise. And how could I possibly post other costs like flights that far out. My TA says even air2sea doesnt come out until 11 months before. I was enjoying people posting their deals. Seeing what people are doing.
  7. I don't see any posts of people worrying about the stock lately, maybe right after covid. I personally follow stocks daily. Rcl has been to the moon and I've been in and out quite a few times. Hit yet another high thursday, squeaked it out but a new high. 129 .. ccl clearly is lagging in the eyes of investors for the cruise group. Since this is a carnival and cruise board we talk about ccl. How would you have any idea how diversified anyone posting on here is? Lmao. Btw I personally feel ccl will keep coming back. The travel sector is strong. Someone on CNBC today also said travel though his pick was EXPE. People are spending on experiences. Travel being one. Travel is a hot sector right now. I predict ccl will do well in 2024. I'm bullish.
  8. Within 20% the same size if you read it. Ok. I dont get the carnival bashers or the other way. The I'll do mardi gras but not oasis. I say the same when someone from royal bashes carnival. As far as carnival having more space per pax than royal .. how long ago was that? I dont remember that within the last 20 years really. Miracle class has the most space per pax of carnival vessels. As long as I can remember carnival had less space per pax. Miracle class was the best as far as space. I go back close to 20 years with both. I used to cruise carnival more than royal until covid, had more carnival points. .. and I never understood the bashing. Mardi gras is a big ship. If you will do mardi gras and not oasis ... ok. I'd do either. But I've also done vista before and after covid. If it's too big ok. My gripe is the space they cut down on vista in the theater and closed in deck 5 etc. Not my favorite. But I'm less picky than you about ships. I do agree with you about cabin size. Carnival made lower category cabins bigger than royal. Insides, ovs .. royal gave the space to suites. Dream coming up I have a larger cabin.
  9. I googled it and mardi gras and oasis both hold roughly the same number of pax. Here is a comparison of the 2. The link has more comparisons than just number of pax... Carnival Mardi Gras holds about the same number of passengers as the Oasis of the Seas based on double occupancy (two people per room). https://cruisespotlight.com/compare/carnival-mardi-gras-vs-royal-caribbean-oasis-of-the-seas/
  10. I dont have a problem if the kid actually sailed and earned the points. I dont like inheriting from the parents. If someone sailed and earned the points why would it matter who paid? That's kinda crazy to me that it should matter who paid. So if the wife paid, the husband shouldn't get the points? That seems like a fine line I wouldn't want to tread if i was carnival.. whomever paid gets the points. I certainly love rcl gives me a extra loyalty pt as a solo. Otherwise no hope I'd ever reach pinnacle. I want that free wifi. Also i get DP340 solo discount. 50% off 2nd pax, ..same as 25% overall. Takes 340 loyalty pts. Sure makes those prices better.
  11. Mbayley@rccl.com Write... you will probably get the same reaction, but this isn't getting you anywhere. It's the crews choice to take the job or not.
  12. If your friend likes ncl better im sure he could change and work for them. I've talked to many crew who have worked more than one cruiseline. If rcl was that much worse I doubt that crew would stay on. So hand that crew member $5 so they can pay for internet. 10 years ago I remember wifi cafes and many crew members from all lines were in there using them. So now they can do it from the ship? Cheaper than those old wifi cafes I used to go to.
  13. Sky junior suites, not just junior suites. Read above which ships have them.
  14. Usually it's short cheaper cruises. Have you priced utopia? Costs as much as a 7 day cruise. It might not attract the party crowd as much as you predict. Some are just curious to do a new ship, not party folks necessarily.
  15. The free texting via the app is only available for over age 13. No young children can sign up.
  16. That poster seems to be all over bashing cruises and telling you HIS theory of a land vacation is best for you. Hes also posting on rcl threads the same stuff, not just bashing carnival. I dont follow other boards. We are ignoring him. Each to their own.
  17. Perks on rcl are the best. Try it and at least you got a start with rcl to compare. Mdr dinners are the same fleet wide for instance. Buffet will be similar all ships. Jewel has a lot of glass. Glass elevators to the outside is what I most remember. I'd go.
  18. Over maybe a $20 pppd difference you wouldnt book a cruise, ok. I don't get someone who could afford a suite and then wouldnt book over the price of drinks, but again ok. You will get free drinks during happy hour, with or without the pkg. I have mariner booked and my price is a over 55 price. I guess its assumed seniors dont drink as much. There is a thread on this recently, new senior rates for the drink pkg. This is the price for may 6 mariner before I board. ..
  19. I'm booked on a 4 day on utopia. Since the choices were 3 or 4. 4 is better lol. We will just have to get out and around and see what we can see faster lol We are doing a 7 day on wonder, coming back and 1 day later doing utopia so it's not quite so bad as many are coming from other areas to do this kinda s2s. It will be my first time on wonder too. Lots to take in I hope on both.
  20. I have a carnival booking and I find it aggravating excursions are never on sale. Things are a set price. On rcl things can change hour by hour or day to day. I wait for black Friday sales to book excursions and specials. Lunches were 40% off. Excursions 30% off. Drink and dining pkgs on rcl depend on demand. Can be higher or lower than average. Newer ships general have higher prices. I prefer the watching and looking for the best prices than carnival who I pay more because no sales on what I want. ..but dynamic pricing is how royal does it .. if you hate watching for the best price royal isnt for you.
  21. Usually carnivals rule is you can go sideways to the same category no charge, or upgrade. Cant downgrade. I dont see lots of threads about this lately maybe because prices keep going up. When you do a mock booking is the category exactly the same as what youn booked? Is the new category higher, you can usually pay the difference and be moved. Too much unknown to be more specific.
  22. I havent seen this behavior but just a general comment there are holidays and times like spring break when there are more kids. I cruised during middle of march and we had over 2k kids onboard. Planned way in advance during covid so we didnt consider spring break. I saw Christmas week also had more kids and Thanksgiving has double the kids in general. Not saying kids are bad but in quantity they are noisy. They seem to screech while playing ping pong or mini golf. Swimming cant be done except at high decibels. Rcl is also advertising to attract families. Unless you book a more expensive line there will be kids during holidays. . Even good kids seem loud if you arent used to them. I'm sorry you had kids acting up and carnival didnt take care of the problem, just tried to cover it up. I'm booked xmas 2024, I might wind up regretting it. Some I know are moving to celebrity and virgin just because fewer kids. Or princess or HAL.
  23. The guy in the shop told me it would be delivered first leg. Turned out he meant by him and then he changed shops and didnt deliver it leg 1 and caused confusion so now I'm waiting until the end of leg 1 and buying it and carrying it back to my cabin.
  24. Ship: Voyager Destination: PC to Spain TA Dates: 5/6/25 # of Nights: 13 Cabin Type: balcony Total Price (inc. taxes & port charges, exc. gratuities): $1321 Average Price Per Night (per Person - USD): $100ish Other Perks: $50 obc A balcony was only $30 more than inside which imo is a bargain but a inside would get the price under $100 a day. quotes for leg 2 which is 10 days of amazing ports to me, 2 in greece, ends in rome, prices arent as amazing. $17xx ?? inside or $2700 balcony. 10 days and obc is $200 plus 100 stock. So more to spend on excursions and tips. Im considering leg 3 ends in athens greece and is only 7 days, not 10 like leg 2 so less $$$. I've already run into a couple who booked all 3 legs. I booked 2 so far. again solo rate. Dp340.
  25. I agree that some dates are just not loaded. My TA has gotten some on dates that I cant get online. Code says invalid on lots of other dates I've checked. Luckily my TA can see them. I cant. I'm seeing the full blown prices. Adds to the shock of higher prices.
