  1. Outside the range of any of the cam links I have. She is about to round Bradley's Head, but not due to berth at OPT till 7pm. It could be earlier if Carnival Splendor makes a clean getaway at 4pm, but if she is delayed, she will be held to a 6:30pm curfew, and 7pm
  2. There are no protocols to follow. The same as here, it is only when one feels unwell enought to test and reports a positive to the medical centre that they have a number to count. They will need 3% of passengers/crew to do that within a 5-day period before any elevated response is required - just like the old days.
  3. I think that is based on the Brisbane City Council boundaries. Greater Melbourne is a slightly larger area than Greater Brisbane, but made up of several LGA's. It is a quirk of timing I guess.
  4. Not sure if I would be run out of town. I have long been a BrisBen person.
  5. But, I do know. He boarded with a spare pair of undies, a comb, a toothbrush and a mobile phone charger. His mates were giving him heaps.
  6. Too far to walk? Dyscalculia isn't uncommon, and something I have to correct errors for every other day because of jumbled numbers.
  7. After discussion with some old people that were there (my parents 😁), they did see concerts with the likes of JO'K, Col Joye, Judy Stone etc at the Century Theatre in Broadmeadow. Newcastle Stadium was still around into the 60's, but was no longer the preferred venue - Civic Theatre for the biggest shows and the Century as the #2 venue through much of the 60's. Little Patti wasn't at the said concert, but talked with my parents to be on Broadmeadow station, as the car from radio 2HD that was meant to pick her up for a beach "stomp" hadn't arrived.
  8. Friends have said with guarantees, that the later the allocation, the more chance of getting something over the odds. I am aware that there have been occasions where there has been a cabin allocated at the pier. It make little sense operationally, but with a sparse number of cabins still available, it allows them to offer the widest choice of cabins for sale till the last possible time. Most guarantees I have booked have dropped me a poorly located bottom grade cabin within days after booking, that I have yet to be upgraded out of. Others have been allocated between final payment and three weeks to sailing.
  9. Our bread van changed to engine power when I was 6. Thankfully, the only time I had to brave a freezing run to the outhouse was when I stayed at my grandparents.
  10. We had a lot of that too growing up in Newcastle suburbia. It reads like a typical upbringing for many of us around the country from that era. We had bread delivered by the co-op's horse and van, and they were paid for with tokens. I remember that the person would sometimes give us a free horseshoe shaped bun, but found out years later that mum had paid for them. Love the nightsoil man reference. We still have rear access to our property from the laneway that all the outhouses used to back on to. The nightsoil man, aka ship pan man in our world, used to hate my grandparents dog as he had a knack of getting out and chasing the man and the splashing pans up the laneway.
  11. I like Herbert Adams too, and known to be a target when they are on special. A bit dearer, but you get what you pay for. I used to hate Mrs Mac's, probably from having one too many servo pies that had been in a warmer for a few hours too long. I quite enjoy their potato top pies, but the pastry can be horrible and rock hard if over baked. I do know, as Barb has torched plenty of pies of various brands over the years via oven, nuker or air fryer.
  12. I scored a free one with the Woolies rewards app a few months ago. OK for a mince pie, but I would still prefer a 4 pack of Mrs Mac's at a similar price.
  13. Lots of fans for sure, and well justified. Some thought she was a bit superficial, but she is still true to her role and herself 15 years later. One of the best CDs we have cruised with. A local version of a John Heald or Ken Rush, where the face becomes part of the brand.
  14. Will have to check whether it still fits. I never had one back in the halcyon days, but it is amazing what you can find on eBay. If the suit fits, I can't think of a better place than Carnival Splendor MDR to bring it back to life.
  15. Lucky they didn't lose the shirt from their back. 😉 On Pacific Explorer a few years back for a cruise down to state of origin RL in Melbourne. Lots of awesome characters, and footy jumpers in the MDR was hard to get used to. One guy was spotted wearing the same set of clothes for the whole 4 night cruise, and he certainly wasn't dressed by his mum. Different crowd, but an awesome event to watch a rare NSW victory.
  16. That is still key. We have always preferred to handpick a cabin, but not at any price. Location matters a bit, but if an otherwise identical cabin is cheaper by letting them choose it, why not. In a rare occasion like this, I also think a new cruiser in a chosen cabin is more chance of being bounced to make room for a regular passenger with a guarantee cabin. Lets just hope this continues to be a rarity.
  17. Zoltina resigned from P&O over a year ago. She is now a cruise director on a much more upmarket brand, and currently on a ship bound for Australia. Lots of "familiar" faces have resigned from P&O since the restart.
  18. I just changed from a chosen cabin to a guarantee after a price drop in order to save $900 on a cruise. The last time I heard of passengers being denied boarding like this was over 15 years ago, so I doubt this changes anything for anyone that hasn't been impacted.
  19. Thank you. That is the Alfredo's menu on the ships with a sit down pizzeria. Coral had these lunches on selected days for N/C prior to the "addition" of prix fixe casual menus. I wasn't aware of their being a Bayou lunch, but it would be a nice extra.
  20. Random query: Was the lunch at Sabatini's just an Alfredo's pizza menu? Did you see a casual dining menu for Bayou Cafe?
