No way....i would rather stay home than to be that cramped in your only personal space. That would be miserable.

That latest news report, posted by lady-cruiser, says at the end that homicide detectives are investigating, so let's not assume just yet that the poor child herself was to blame, or put it all on her parents. Another child/adult could have been involved.
That means nothing....homicide detectives are who usually initially investigate all unexpected deaths until the facts prove otherwise.

Explore....the status perks simply aren't that important.
-
Not for me at the new price and I have quite a few drinks on board. If UDP isn't given as a perk I won't be buying it and would shop elsewhere with other lines where I can usually find a better overall price..
-
LOL....then we would get to hear the whiners switch from "I don't want specialty dining" to "I hate the lack of choices". Yay:eek:
Whiners are going to whine....it's what they do.

Great post....thanks.

Not at all unusual.

They aren't going to change you because you have a personal aversion to a fairly common itinerary that includes Jamaica.
-
You have no way to assure the cabins will even be remotely close with a GTY.
-
3....I could do 2 if I was on a great ship.
-
For $10 I would take it just for convenience.
-
Sure....the odds are heavily against it though.

This is incorrect. There are actual BX category cabins. On Epic, they are 8004 and 8005.
Once gone, NCL can offer the category aa guarantee, but the category is not always a guarantee.
While that may be true I have never, ever, seen it not listed as a GTY.
-
Balcony GTY.

Wow, that is absolutely INCREDIBLE to me. Were you in a swanky area/suite? $100 tip. Da-amn!!!!
Yeah....no way I would drop that much. LOL.
I am just not tipping $25 a day for the 20 minutes they will spend in my cabin.

I can't say I have ever looked or cared who the CD is and I don't see why it matters.

who is actually BUYING the UBP anyway? 99% are probably getting it as a pick 1/2/all promo.
even tho that means the weekly charge on the "free" package goes up, that's still a great value when drinks are $10+ a pop. in 2 days its paid for itself.
Exactly. While the price is up there compared to other lines virtually everyone is comped in some sort of way which is a rarity in the industry.
My upcoming cruise was $100 more than Carnival but still $200 less than RCCL. I am in $100pp for tips which still has me saving $250pp over Carnival which made it the cheapest cruise. It doesn't always work out that way but simply math can show you the best deal.
If they day comes where the perk goes away I would never consider purchasing it for that amount and would simply look at the competition.

Yes and no it does not replace it.

The workers are going to be paid either way whatever the going industry standard is, all the lines are shopping for the same talent. If NCL raised the cruise $15 a day and advertised they were a "no tipping line" I guess some would still find something else to complain about.
Bottom line, they stick with it because cruising is a service based model where tipping by the passenger customarily is the primary compensation. The industry has changed and the days of assigned servers you took care of at the end with an envelope are long gone. Due to that the way we add our gratuities has changed because no one would support tipping as service is rendered throughout the course of an entire cruise.
To fight that or try to delve into how an employee is compensated is absurd and frankly none of your business.
-
That's what I've been saying yet most people on here like to post to get their post count up rather then take a minute to understand the pricing dilemma.
.....or people simply think your 'complaint' is absurd and you should be happy they are even extending a special offer for singles instead of complaining that isn't good enough.

I hope I'm not the only one who hopes they get nothing. Seriously....rough seas when they booked a sea vacation during hurricane season.
-
As above...holiday weeks command a premium....sometimes nearly double.
-
what does it mean you "shop for a bartender"
Some bartenders are better than others....without question.
-
But... It should be the opposite :)
The bartender makes your drinks and controls what goes in it liquor wise ;)

In my experience I get good drinks either way. When I tip a bartender extra I am hoping for better service if the bar is packed. I generally recognize the server because simply they are making it convenient and more enjoyable for me. I get to relax while they order the drink and bring it back to me in whatever comfy chair I've found.
No more Taste Bar?

No great loss. I certainly wouldn't make a trip during their limited serving window. I don't expect sushi will do much better, it's not like there is a shortage of food everywhere else.
