  1. I feel sorry for airline employees who are going to be on the receiving end of passenger abuse today.
  2. Thank goodness you were here to correct this!!
  3. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) system that sends out real-time flight hazards and restrictions to all commercial airline pilots - Notice to Air Missions(NOTAM) is currently suffering a nationwide outage. The FAA has ordered all airlines to pause domestic departures until 9:00 a.m. More than 1,200 flights within, into and out of the U.S. were delayed as of around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning. Just over 100 flights were listed as cancelled. United Airlines said it has temporarily delayed all domestic flights. American Airlines said in a statement it is "closely monitoring the situation, which impacts all airlines, and working with the FAA to minimize disruption to our operation and customers."
  4. Consider asking them directly.
  5. There is no problem for an American to book this way, and many people do this.
  6. I also think it’s best to just get it over with. I hate redeyes, so would take the early morning departure on UA or AA.

    EVA Air

Laugh if you must, but the Hello Kitty plane would be one of my dream trips.
  8. Southwest did not “lose a bunch of luggage.” Most bags are simply delayed, not really lost.
  9. As one who works for an airline (not WN), I have lost my sense of humor lately and don’t find that funny. Baggage is very rarely lost and in the last ten days, we have had to call the airport police twice to get a passenger out of the office who was threatening violence, calling name and screaming. One of them is in the process of being banned from flying our airline.
  10. Doubtful; they are scheduled to be up and running by tomorrow. OP’s flight isn’t for three weeks.
  11. I try not to unnecessarily complicate an already complicated life. I am not really sure why you would think Spirit is better than WN. All airlines have problems, and neither of your choices have interline agreements with other airlines.
  12. No refund unless your flight is canceled.
  13. Yes, they flew BDL-SJU and had a 90 min delay. Very lucky because there were cancelled flights in and out of BDL over the last couple of days.
  14. If possible, always take the first flight of the morning, preferably nonstop to increase your chances of making it. Good luck, just keep in mind that plane you are taking tomorrow came from some other airport, but at least you are not connecting through DEN which is a nightmare today. And, the computer systems for an airline at Dulles went down today for a couple hours. It's just a mess in bad weather and during the holiday season. I would never choose to fly the end of December!
  15. What peace of mind would this give you?
  16. The reality is, you will spend hours comparing planes/airlines/routings, and if you book so far in advance, odds are there will be equipment swaps and schedule changes.
  17. Read your policy carefully. This is not how trip delay coverage works. The latest trip insurance policy I purchased only kicked in after 12 consecutive hours of delay, and then only paid for reasonable expenses I might incur during this delay, up to the maximum per day ($125 for this policy). It did nothing to purchase a new plane ticket on another carrier.
  18. I would agree with everything, but note that E+ is offered on international flights also with UA, not just domestic.
  19. In most cases, compensation for volunteers gets high enough that no one is involuntarily denied boarding. However, with my airline at least, if push comes to shove, fare class and status are considered and then check-in time, not when ticket was purchased. I have heard agents tell pax all kinds of incorrect and crazy things, sometimes just to get them to go away.
  20. Agree, she needs to check the version of the plane she's on. Bruce is correct, the only 321with lie flat seats is the 321LR.
  21. Not entirely true. Many people don’t need an interview for renewals; I didn’t. And, the reason it’s so hard to get an interview, either the initial interview or for renewal, is lack of funding. No money to pay enough agents to complete interviews, along with their other duties at airports.

    TSA

Yes, I'd choose for GE. While waiting for your interview, if you are eligible, use Mobile Passport Control. It's free and easy, and you will get through the line more quickly most of the time.
