  1. This problem is easily solved, just call room service, ask them to pick up. Have done many times.
  2. Agree, with above comments. Egypt must have an embassy in Tele Aviv, your friends can consult with regarding requirements and possibly a local travel agent might be of help. We are US citizens who have traveled many times to both Israel and Egypt.
  3. If you are not getting what you want or expect do something different!
  4. Another option we elect is to stay in a hotel overnight and catch first available flight the following day. We usually fly out of Miami to San Francisco, there are only early am nonstop flights. When we do so we stay at the Miami Airport Hilton hotel. See you are from Wales; we do the same thing when we are in Europe.
  5. Set the cabin temperature at the lowest heat setting at night, so you are not sleeping under the cold air from the air conditioning unit over the bed. Have been doing this for years, greatly reduced nasal and sinus problems, plus colds symptoms for us.
  6. Agree, have traveled all over Europe and the MIddle East, as well as US, always tip. Using about $10. Now that my DH is senile and difficult, I tip even more, LOL.
  7. I have some experience with Miami, fly American out of Miami. Last time, found I could check my luggage in early because I was coming from a cruise but I could not enter the restricted area until about 2 hours prior to the flight. Alternative there is a Hilton hotel near Miami airport you might be able to check in for a day and relax there. My experience is pre covid.
  8. I think you are approaching this the wrong way. Find a cruise where you want to get on or off differently than the itinerary. Ask the cruise line if you can do a "trip deviation" and present what port you wish to get on or off on. Really depends on the cruise and what you want to do. We have requested trip deviations when we were on cruises in Europe. Got on in Rome, got off in LaHavre France, ship went on to Southampton England. We needed to get prior approval in advance in writing. If you use a TA ask TA for assistance. We also gotten off in Ashdod Israel and stayed overnight a couple of times, reboarding in Haifa Israel. Again, made request in writing to cruise line. In all cases we paid full fare, not a reduced fare for leaving the ship early. Now if you are only talking about west coast ports in USA, there are some restrictions. I don't fully understand these to address them, maybe someone else can. I have done many Mediterranean cruises on Princess, Celebrity, HAL, Cunard and have seen Europeans getting on and off at different ports.
  9. The Grand Princess was home ported in SF for a number of years. I took about 10 cruises the Grand out of SF. I took the first cruise on the Grand out of Istanbul in l998. Grand was retrofitted a number of years ago because the disco frame on the back was too heavy. Grand was switched to the Ruby, now the Royal will be in port this fall, I am doing a 15 day to Hawaii on the Royal. Some years ago, Celebrity did some cruises out of SF, wish they still did. I am not interested in going on Carnival. I am too old for Carnival, better for a younger crowd.
  10. Sorry you were charged for drinks. I check my account daily on all ships all lines. They make mistakes and generally it takes a couple of days to get things reversed while on board. We prepaid some Crown Grill dinners and where charged, checking our account caught it right away. Reminded staff daily our dinner was already prepaid and got charges reversed before I got off the ship. I have cruised 9 different lines over the years, found mistakes on other lines too.
  11. Agree, if I could fly, would go San Diego over LA any day.
  12. I am not planning to go till December 2023, would guess problems will be resolved. Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience. Thanks for responding. I am on the Royal this December. With my DH being 90 we only go out of SF round trip, so whatever ship is here we are on it. As I said, I am sorry they did not keep the Ruby here. That's life. Hope your future cruising are far better.
  13. I love the Ruby, not a big fan of the Royal, even though wed booked on it for 15 days this December 2022. I will glad have the Crown replace the Royal, since similar to the Ruby. Don't know what you mean by Crown history? I have never been on Crown.
  14. You are right, food is subject. May depend on what is ordered. I did notice one night I ordered a rib steak that was thinner than I expected but more food than I wanted so enjoyed it. I really like the sea bass and always order it.
  15. Well we had dinner on the Ruby in the Crown Grill in January too, took 10 day cruise to Mexico. We actually eat there 4 times, every time was excellent. We don't do Italian so can't speak to Sabatini's.
  16. And, they spoiled the Crown Grill too with bar next door.
  17. Some one else told me that, have not seen anything in writing, would much prefer the Ruby in SF.
  18. Agree basically, buffet best feature of Royal class. We always book a mini suite, balcony on Royal class very narrow so also a big disappointment. For us, no choice as at 90/75 years we are limited to what ship is home ported in San Francisco, our home port. Don't want to fly anymore to board a ship. Ruby was in SF for a while, Grand prior to the Ruby, love both of these ships over Royal class. Happy to have a Princess ship in SF, so we are booked on the Royal Princess for 15 days in December over Christmas and New Year's. In December we probably will not miss the promenade deck and a bigger balcony. We have done about 12 Mediterranean cruises over the years. Mediterranean cruises are so port intensive you will not spend much time on the ship. Have a great cruise.
  19. We have decided to eat at the buffet for dinner now for a number of cruises. We dress the same way would have dressed if going to the MDR and eating out at home. Common sense is best. Sometimes we go to the Crown Grill, dress the same there too. I guess I don't understand why this is such a common question on these boards.
  20. Why not book on the phone with Princess, that is what I do and tell them what cabins I want.
  21. Interesting. The only issue I had with the medallion was figuring out how to scan our passports. Looking on CC someone tipped me to focus on the bar code, that was very helpful.
  22. Never done a suite, only mini suites on Princess. I always pack my own if needed on Princess. Have seen umbrellas on other lines but no Princess.
  23. Switched from using TA for all travel arrangements 20 years ago, have never been sorry.
  24. I simply think that Princess is moving in the wrong direction. I have read comments about the lack of quality/consistency in services on recent cruises. Just think Princess might step up its effort there over promoting prizes. Obviously, given some comments here I am wrong, so be it.
