  1. My watch doesn't need any power. You just wind it every day or and it is happy. Sometimes low tech is best. DON
  2. Check out the Northern Pacific Cannery National Historic Site. https://northpacificcannery.ca/ Sounds blah but it was extremely interesting. The town also has a really great regional museum. We spent 3 days in Prince Rupert on our AK driving trip and we enjoyed ourselves very much even when it was raining. DON
  3. In today's world I don't understand why so many people have brand loyalty when almost every company doesn't have any customer loyalty. In my opinion brand loyalty w/o any company is for suckers. My attitude is that when you make a mistake and don't treat me right you have one chance to fix or or I am gone. In other words - twice is enough. DON
  4. I would suspect that Major Marine or Kenai Fjords is the provider actually doing the excursion as they do most of the Kenai boat excursions. Check out both of their sites to try to match the Viking offering w the tour operator offering to compare tours and prices. Regardless of exactly what Viking is offering you should take the longest tour that your port stop allows. One advantage of the longer cruise is that they take you to 2 glaciers instead of 1. We have done either 3 or 4 Kenai excursions w Major Marine and they were all wonderful. Two of the advantages of Major Marine over Kenai is that you get reserved seating on the ship that is yours for the duration. Also I think that the lunch is better on Major Marine. DON
  5. I would suggest that you repost this on the appropriate Ports of Call board. Your question will get a wider exposure there including people who are not cruising on Azamara. You might also post it on your cruise Roll Call or set one up if one does not already exist. DON
  6. The Falklands is a total crap shoot. I have been there 3 times and we made it every time. We have a friend who has been there 4 times I believe and has not made it yet. The problem w the Falklands is that the entrance to the harbour can be very difficult and the bigger the ship the more difficult it is. You don't say if you are doing a 1 day Port Stanley visit or spending several days visiting the smaller outer islands. The latter provides a much better Falklands experience. DON
  7. Check out the Weatherspark site on the WEB. It has climate data which is what you need for almost any city on earth. DON
  8. Two stalks of celery and some lettuce. You can eat wisely on a cruise but you are also supposed to enjoy yourself. I can eat healthy at home. DON
  9. A reversible jacket for $35 is probably worth at least $15 in the real world. DON
  10. Your king crab legs if you can get them were frozen when caught so it doesn't make any difference where you buy them, If they are available in your hometown just buy them there. DON
  11. Assuming that they have the required ingredients amd they know how to make the drink - that is their job to make the drink that you order. You should not have to bribe them to make it. DON
  12. According to WeatherSpark the average high at Talkeetna airport in August is 65 degrees. DON
  13. Not accessible by cruise ship but Root Glacier in Wrangell-Elias National Park near Kennicott is neat and you can hike on it. https://www.nps.gov/places/root-glacier.htm. The glacier is easily accessible by land and Kennicott is well worth a visit. The problem with most people who visit AK is that if it isn't close to or on a ship tour they don't know anything about it. DON
  14. I was on a trip in Mexico once and women in the village were selling very small woven baskets for $5 to $10 and people who had gladly spent that much money at the hotel we were staying at for a drink were trying to haggle them down a few bucks. At that point I was ashamed to be an American. DON
  15. This is sort of a response to the OP although he may not have this attitude. Many cruising and traveling Americans feel that just because they are Americans they are protected by American law or regulations outside of the country. Marijuana is one example. Handicapped access is another. Gun rights are still another. When you leave the country you are covered by the laws of whatever country you are in. I am not sure exactly which country's law cover you when you are on a cruise ship but I am reasonably certain that it is not American laws. With regard to the OP's effort to bring and use marijuana on the cruise ship and perhaps off the cruise ship he does this at his own risk. I do think that he realizes this. I do think that his comment that "it seems that almost everyone in the U.S. is high on cannabis these days." is just a little bit of an exaggeration. DON

Then also used the cover on my cruise when it rained for an extended period. DON
  17. Even worse are the men who wear their baseball caps backwards. I realize that it is totally stupid but I have an irrational hatred of seeing people who wear baseball caps backwards. If you have to wear a baseball cap at least wear it in the manner that it was designed for. DON
  18. How hard would it be for Princess to give him a fake or inactive medallion just to make a 2 year old happy. That would have been good customer relations. DON
  19. 2017 and 10 years ago in the initial post. What does this have w the situation today? DON
  20. You need to define your selection parameters before you can expect to get a useful answer. DON
  21. Some of them are sort of old. The Prada movie had been on TV about a 1000 times. DON
  22. Why don't you both take a one way trip with whatever land time your friends can manage, Then they go home and you stay on for more land time. DON
  23. Actually regardless of the price shown for the jewelry it was not over priced but it was free because you used OBC for it. Anything you buy w nonrefundable OBC is free. DON
