  1. We bring cash to tip porters, bartenders, our cabin steward, taxi fares, small purchases at ports, less than $500.
  2. A taxi will get you much closer.
  3. My husband was able to get unopened beers at some bars, he’s also a good tipper. I think most sodas are served in glasses, you need the deluxe beverage package for waters.
  4. Your check in time is 11, boarding usually starts around 11:30 for the priority passengers, and then those who checked in at 9.
  5. I haven’t but I have read recent reviews, they were good, for $15 it sound like a great deal even with no pool (we bought a day pass in 2005 for $15 at the Hilton, once they increased the price dramatically we chose to go to better resorts).
  6. As a SAHM to 5, cruising actually gave me a break from my kids, who have always been very social (in their 20‘s now, that has not changed at all), one their favorite aspects of cruising is to meet new people. I loved reading books on deck or on the balcony, something my kids did not enjoy as much. Even though they are best friends and close in age, they’d usually each find their own crew on cruises.
  7. In Manhattan, you grab your luggage, grab a porter, he puts the luggage on a cart and you go through a special line (which is basically no line).
  8. Yes, that’s it, pool is closed but the beach is open.
  9. There are no public restrooms on cable or cabbage beach. Another option is a beach pass from resorts for a day for the old Hilton, you’d have beach and restrooms, plus able to order food/drink (passes are $15). We did day passes at RIU on cable beach, loved it, but we got there at 9 am.
  10. We’ve never lucked into getting a porter in the parking lot, but it was manageable getting our luggage into the freight elevator and bringing it to porters down below. You definitely don’t want to drop off luggage with the porters first because you will need to drive a loop to get back to the port.
  11. I think I’d drop off the car and call an Uber and not bother dropping off luggage first.
  12. It’s a faux exuma experience, instead of swimming with the feral pigs on a distant island they bring farm pigs to a beach.
  13. But most other lines charge much more for their drink package and add a gratuity.
  14. Only Junkanoo has restroom facilities from the Nassau beaches listed above.
  15. I’d just divide up and try to keep a confident traveler in each group, taxi or Uber. Or make sure those less confident get into cars first, it’s really just going from A to B, meet at the hotel.
  16. Some kids do have a hard time making new friends in new places.
  17. A non-denominational service doesn’t work for Catholics.
  18. I’ve only used them on NCL but they were very powerful, I have long thick hair and they did the job well.
  19. You will not be refunded the air portion if you cancel it. A 2 day deviation should help with the jet lag getting there, and it seems that most international flights from the US are overnight (which is good).
  20. I didn’t realize they still stocked the fridge with minibar items, I guess we were lucky on out last cruise. If there are beers in there, you will be charged, if you order drinks through room service, you will be charged.
  21. It’s probably a liability issue, one a food allergy is made known they must follow protocols.
  22. Yes, I believe a third party vendor “leasing” space on cruise ships.
