  1. Royal Caribbean has regular ice cream in the WJ a lot. Anthem used to have it at the dessert station on the left, with someone scooping and some toppings. We have seen an ice cream cart go around the WJ at dinner on Radiance class ships many times. Lots of toppings to make sundaes. This has been on Alaska and NE/Canada cruises.
  2. Our October cruise on Oasis was packed too but we are going to give it one more shot. Seeing as we are going in May, lots of schools will still be in session. Rollcall looks to have mostly little kids. We are also going a GS, so will hide in CK and SL if necessary. Part of this is actually a trip to my Mom's house just south of Port Canaveral. We are going to be bringing a bunch of her stuff home as we don't think she will be going to Florida anymore. We actually tried to get her to come with us and go see some of her friends but she declined. I had two connecting GS, but she thinks it would be too much for her. We will be boarding ship with two suitcases and likely leaving with about six!
  3. Yes, you can gamble at 18 except for Alaska cruises which are 21.
  4. We are going to look at Celebrity Summit since it will be sailing from Cape Liberty, but 9 day cruises can be tough workwise for my DH. That's why I just booked Oasis again, 7 days, Sunday to Sunday works better until he retires, which is still years away.
  5. I don't even think the ranger cookies are as good as they used to be, they seem different. The oatmeal raisin cookies are usually good and the ones with the white chocolate and dried cranberries. The coconut macaroons in the gluten free section of the WJ on Anthem have become my coconut favorites!
  6. My only NCL cruise was on the Dawn, I think, right after it had been rehabbed. I was only on it for my Mom's 80th, she wanted Bermuda, Royal rarely does Bermuda from Boston. I would try NCL again, if I could get DH to give it a go. I have him convinced to try Celebrity, so not going to push another line just yet. 😇
  7. Too many desserts are made with gelatin instead of using cream to thicken things. Cream would enhance the flavors as well as give structure to desserts. Gelatin just gives them structure to cut and serve, no flavor.
  8. You will find out what time you are going once you meet your tour guide. We were supposed to be leaving the hotel around 7am for ours but didn't leave until almost 8. It will all be outlined to you once you start your cruise tour.
  9. It is very interesting that Sandy is so down on Fraser yet any interview you see with Lee, he praises Fraser constantly.
  10. @Momof3gurlzThanks for sharing your thoughts on NCL. I have only done one NCL cruise and I hate that beverage package that is one of the "Free" choices. They require all in the same cabin to get the same free options, so I had no choice but to get that beverage package and then pay the $200+ gratuity for the "free" choice. It was a girls cruise for my Mom's 80th, so I had to go with what the group was doing. I would have been fine with it if I could get bottled water or soda but those weren't included. 🙄
  11. The 13 yr old can come and go as they please. You can give the 10 yr old the ability to check out if you want to.
  12. Are entertainment reservations opening up about a month before sailing or is there no pattern?
  13. He is flying SWA, he doesn't have a seat assignment. He will have to take what is available once he makes the run from gate to gate. Hopefully, one of the flights has a gate change it they are closer together.
  14. He is in the air now. It is going to be a tough connection to make. He is coming into gate B13 and leaving from A7. Fingers crossed.
  15. Glad your plane is there. According to Flightaware, FLL is having departure delays of 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes and increasing due to thunderstorms. All inbound flights are being held at their origins until 11:30am. https://flightaware.com/live/airport/delays I hope you get out of their soon! Flightaware has a really good app too that is worth downloading.
  16. I was just doing some searching for group or themed cruises as we might be booking soon and found one link that was a travel agency that lists many, many themes and cruises on lots of cruise lines. With the suggested keywords of themed or group, you should be able to find a few different long lists. I also found this on Royal Caribbean's website that shows some themed cruises for 2023. https://www.royalcaribbean.com/plan-a-cruise/themed-cruises
  17. I definitely still have lingering covid issues including fatigue. It has improved but I just don't have the stamina I used to have. I still have altered sense of taste and smell which has really been frustrating me lately. I have discussed things with my PCP but he is very nonchalant about everything. He is retiring and I am looking into finding a new PCP and want to see an ENT also. I had covid in May and I am ready for this to be over with. I think age does play a factor and it takes longer for us to get over things but I also think this virus is just different than what we have dealt with in the past and there is no easy, do this and everything gets better antidote. Get lots of rest and pace yourself. I hope things improve for you soon. 🙂
  18. I don’t think I have ever seen it this cold here before, from -2.5 to -10.4 in only two hours. Time is off an hour, no one ever adjusted it for day light savings time.
  19. Definitely getting colder here and the wind is howling. Really cold in that bay window too. Need to replace that one this spring.
