  1. If you can get star class for eight people for $20k, that is worth it. We don't find star class worth it for the two of us, we are happy with sky class. I am sure having a genie coordinate a group that size makes is very helpful!
  2. Chops has many tables for two, if they reserve for two, they will likely be seated at a table for two. With the dining packages, the specialty restaurants can be very busy, Chops needs to know that there are going to be four. If she is booking this now, she should reserve for four and pay for the three that have a fee, otherwise there could be issues accommodating her family.
  3. I would pick Wonder over Oasis if the pricing was similar. We prefer the cabin furnishings on the newer ships and like to experience all the new restaurants that get introduced on the new ships. Having said that, we got outpriced by Wonder (both cruise and airfare) for our upcoming cruise and are sailing Oasis for the fifth time. We were last on Oasis in October and it was having water issues, no water on ship as we came into Port Canaveral, and many bathroom issues. Public toilets on deck 6 not working for two days and cabin toilets not working off and on for a few days. From recent reviews, it is still having some intermittent toilet issues, which can happen on any ship and sailing.
  4. Great information, I was just able to book the largest suite on Icon for all the remaining available dates. Good thing you have a high credit limit! 😱😄😇
  5. Yes, those knobs up by the hand grips adjust the handles, no tools needed. The seat cushion folds up and there is a strap that you pull up and the rollator folds to go in a car. edit to add: It has brakes too that you squeeze to stop as you are moving but you can also push them down to set the brake to be able to sit down and not worry about the rollator moving.
  6. If you want wheelchair assistance, you can fill out the form ahead of time. You might want to consider ordering a shower chair for your cabin. We have had to do that for my DH post surgery once, made it a lot safer for him to stand. Lots of information here: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/experience/accessible-cruising
  7. That's the type my Mom has now too. SO much safer for her because she actually pushes it instead of picking up the walker so it didn't scratch her floors. Plus, she can put stuff on the seat to move from one room to another instead of trying to carry stuff.
  8. There are also organizations that loan transport chairs and other medical equipment. The Senior Center in the town my parents lived in had a lending program. The Elks also did. The Masons have a lending program near me that I was able to borrow a rollator for my Mom last year. She had the typical metal walker that she picked up when she used it instead of pushing it. I wanted her to try a rollator which has a seat and four wheels instead of two but she didn't want to buy one. I borrowed one and she loved it, plus she was so much safer because she uses it correctly. We bought her one for Christmas and returned the loaner but it was a great to be able to "test drive" one. Maybe try to borrow one short term until you find one you like. I bet your daughter the OT knows a resource to borrow from. The Mason lending program near me has hospital beds, hoyer lifts, transfer chairs, walkers, rollators, and pretty much anything else people need.
  9. I would suggest going to a medical device store near you and try some out. You can get them at Walmart and Amazon too but if it is something you are going to need a lot, it is better to have one that is comfortable and fits you well. You likely can get one prescribed for you by your physician so insurance would cover it. One of the big issues with transport chairs is going over curbs and thresholds. The little wheels don't always handle bumps very well. My Dad had ALS as well as Parkinsons. He did not do very well at all in a transport chair because he couldn't balance himself very well in the chair. I almost lost him once going over a bump as he wasn't able to brace himself well. We transitioned to a wheelchair after that. You will be able to gate check the transport chair for the plane and it does not count against you baggage quote and does not incur a fee.
  10. You used to be able to do that pre 9/11, it is not something that can be done now.
  11. Thank you! PCP didn't want me using Flonase as I was on a long course of steroids and I should "give it time". ENT is definitely my next step. I had looked locally at essential oils but most were blends, like Rose Verbena or Eucalyptus Spearmint. I looked on Amazon last night and they had lots of choices. I have never used essential oils before so kind of overwhelming! I appreciate the list you posted. 🙂
  12. The JS on deck 6 have "balconies" that are behind this area.
  13. That picture isn't accurate as that ship was changed during an amp. There are four JS across the center aft that are set way back in the ships steel structure making the balcony at least ten feet from the edge of the ship. Definitely not worth the Royal Up money. No way I would bid on a JS on either Voyager class or Freedom class ships due to those cabins.
  14. I am glad you are improving. Just take it easy and don't try too do too much too quickly. 🙂 I am in the process of finding a new PCP as mine retired recently and was not too helpful with my issue anyway. I lost my sense of smell and taste in the past too due to an allergic reaction to a medication and it took months to come back then too. I have been dragging my feet because our insurance is also changing because the company my DH works for was just bought out and I don't want to find someone I like and then find out they don't take our insurance. I need to make it a priority though as some days it is really frustrating.
  15. Could you tell me the brand of the essential oils you bought on Amazon? I have looked at essential oils locally but many are a blend of scents. I have read the articles you are referring to and many others, and have considered trying retraining my sense of smell but had never heard of anyone who has actually tried doing it. I didn't want to waste money and time if it is just a farce. I lost both my sense of smell and taste from Covid in May 2022. @Luckynana @derorim I hope you are both feeling better soon and don't have long term issues.
  16. Cabins come in pairs. On Quantum, the cabin on the left sleeps two and has the bed by the balcony. The cabins that sleep more are on the right with the sofabed by the balcony and bed by the bathroom. Just look at the deck plans and find a connecting pair of cabins and then go by two from there. You count as if you are standing in the corridor looking towards the cabins.
  17. There used to be a water button on the front screen that could be operated without the cup with the RFID chip. Those seem to be removed now. People like the water from the freestyle machines because it is filtered by the machine.
  18. Deck 6 is our preferred deck too for the reasons you listed, plus being on the same deck as the boardwalk. We have done the dreaded deck 7 and only got off the elevator on the wrong side once all week. Next cruise is on deck 8 as there were no GS left on deck 6 that weren't connecting.
  19. That comment is in response to the original comment to your lovely post thanking people. There was an over reaction that was quickly edited.
  20. You should be all set then to use it just like you did in the past. Just make sure wifi calling is enabled. You don't need any third party apps like What's app.
