  1. Or take the cash you would have spent on cheers and buy OBC (you can cash out in Casino on the last day). Or save the cash bring it with you on the cruise. Pay some cash on your account each day or just pay off your bill in full on the last day, No financial worry and nothing lost,
  2. I have found on my last few cruises that libraries are pretty bare, (Not just Carnival -We did NCL last summer and the library selection was the worst I've ever seen.) I love to read on cruises (I'm a book-a-day person on sea days) and I like traditional books, not e-readers, so I usually bring several paperbacks and leave then when I am done.
  3. I have cruises booked on each of them, We sailed both in the past want to do them again before they're history.
  4. I have sued both shampoo and body wash to hand launder undies, delciates, and socks. Both do an adequate job.
  5. My many years as a teacher taught me that the large majority of fights end when you get rid of the audience.
  6. We do the MDR breakfast every port day; we like sitting down and being served. We eat light at lunch - maybe the taco bar or Guy's burgers, a sandwich from the deli, or pizza, or grab something in port. Sea days we love the Sea Day brunch and we usually aren't hungry until dinnertime in the MDR. We rarely eat from the buffet.
  7. Definitely a convenience with more than two in a cabin.
  8. Yes, I find most drinks are very sweet. After a couple of specialty drinks I'm ready for something basic like Gin and Tonic; any bar can make them. If you don't have Cheers, you can order a double of a basic cocktail for $3 more (maybe it' gone up, but that's what it was last time I ordered one.)
  9. Schedule for Elation in March. I love this ship and hate to see her go.
  10. How doss 80 look? Or 65? There is so much variation, individual to individual. At high school reunions, some of my classmates look like they could be the parents of other classmates.
  11. I'm retiring at the end of this academic year (DH also worked on an academic calendar, but has been retired for 7 years). Right now I am only thinking in terms of the semester - "only one more . . ."(opening week, advising class, midterm, etc). Starting in January, I will start counting weeks. DH and I are looking forward to being able to cruise whenever we wish, instead of having to stick to the high-dollar school vacation times. Our first post-retirement cruise is booked for Sept 16.
  12. Though we were just on Elation this year, we have another Elation cruise booked in March for our 40th anniversary. We love this ship - the size of it, the over-the-top decor. And this year she will be embarking from Jacksonville, which is such an easy port. We couldn't resist the chance to sail her just one more time. This year we are staying in one of Promenade deck rooms, tucked away between the Alchemy bar and the serenity deck, and just down the hall from the Java Blue for my morning coffee. Need to do on more run on Paradise while she is still here - Did anyone else sail her when she was smoke-free?
  13. I wish they'd go back to Coke. I also wish they included Ginger Ale in the Soda package,
  14. Sharpie markers will work. Abbreviate.
  15. We have sailed to the Caribbean in December, January, and February. In all cases, summer wear was comfortable most of the time. I did bring a hoodie, which I used on a few cooler seadays, and a wrap for evenings. It's always been warm to hot in ports,
  16. I used to love the Steak and eggs when they served the Filet Mignon - it was the meal I enjoyed most on most cruises. Now with the cheaper steak, it is good, but not great
  17. They'll lose revenue from peaceful clientele who stop sailing Carnival if they DON"T stop the rowdy behavior.
  18. The ship may not be docking until late morning
  19. Jacksonville is the simplest embarkation ever. You park right by the ship and walkup the ramp - open-air and rather steep. We did the Elation last spring out of Canaveral and are thrilled she is out of Jacksonville now (replacing Ecstasy) - we'll be sailing her again this spring. We are doing one of the panorama cabins which are located right of the Serenity deck.
