  1. Take whatever you like on board at the beginning and during. Nobody checks, and nobody minds. Try not to clank, though.
  2. Just checked ours on my Cunard. It says main dining.
  3. I thought there was a corkscrew in the cabin. Perhaps they disappeared during Covid, like the atlases.
  4. I always enjoy lying in bed and being able to hear the foghorn, but only if it is reasonably muffled, so I can drift off to sleep while it is sounding.
  5. Goodness, it is beginning to get like waiting for the announcement a new Pope has been elected. 😀 White smoke from all Cunard funnels on the day…
  6. On QM2 we always say no upgrade, simply out of fear of a Q3. As well as no balcony, you have to have your blinds down when it gets dark, which I would hate. Having said that, years ago, I didn’t think about it, and we were upgraded - from a P1 to a Q5. Phew!
  7. Almost as entertaining as watching the late arrivals. 😀
  8. I always had the vague impression, based slightly on my own experience and on some anecdotal evidence, that Cunard liked to upgrade newish passengers to get them hooked on dearer cabins. And who can blame them?
  9. How is giving numbers of anonymous people contravening data protection? Schools are allowed to say how many pupils they have.
  10. Yes, in fact it struck me as I was typing that you would be able to turn to the PA. In truth, the luggage does often arrive impressively promptly.
  11. The only problem with putting it in checked luggage is that it may not be to hand to assist you through unpacking, if the suitcases don’t all arrive together. I admit, though, at Southampton at least, the luggage does usually come very promptly.
  12. Counterintuitively, perhaps, I have heard of teens much enjoying the dancing classes.
  13. Especially if it were a Q3 on QM2, but I fear I totally lack friends in high places, so that point wouldn’t arise.
  14. No, I fear the discussions would then turn to the exorbitant nature of the fares. 😀
  15. Just out of interest, if you were to experience very poor service, as happens sometimes, if only very occasionally, how could you remove the ‘service charge’ from the all in payment? I suppose they would just give credit.
  16. Yes, there is always a wind.
  17. I assume they do. If I don’t think it is any more likely with one system than another.
  18. You do rather make it sound as if boosting their profits is inherently bad. Surely it is one of the major things companies should be doing?
  19. Seems very sensible. In my 1997 brochure tips are included, but there was a different add on, something called port charges.
  20. It was open on our Med. cruise in 2022.
  21. Yes, annoying. If you drink wine, the only thing to do is to spend it on more expensive wines. 😀
