  1. My quads were weak and a reason I started PT last July, because of difficulty climbing stairs. That was before all this. I had started to get stronger, then when the leg pain got bad, I had to stop most of the strengthening exercises. When I felt good initially, after the injection, I started back on things like sit to stand. I've persevered, even with the pain back, as I want to be as good as I can manage before the surgery.
  2. Now I can go throw clothes in the dryer! I may watch the other sail aways in a bit.
  3. Patricia, I'm having a MIS right L3-:L4, L4-L5 foraminotomy, using a tubular retractor. That way there will be progressive dilation of the soft tissues, as opposed to cutting directly through the muscles. She said she wasn't using a camera, so I don't know how you see what you're doing! I did read that a microscope can be used. Oh sorry to hear that River isn't feeling well and made a big deal about a Covid test. Has she ever had one? Is she worried that it will hurt? I'm in a study right now where I do 2 nasal swabs a week for 8 weeks and mail them away. They are seeing if wearing a health watch monitor, the data correlates in any way with the swabs. I'm done with my awful head and chest cold, so hopefully I develop nothing, especially before surgery. I'm going to be careful and mask at any medical appointments and the grocery store, and maybe PT if I continue. Lenda, I've been accumulating stuff in preparation. BFF gave me his DD DF's walker. I bought slip on shoes (wearing them today for the first time), and a long shoe horn. I've got grabbers, a shower seat and a suction grab bar to put in the downstairs walk in shower. I worry about stuff like laundry, although BFF did both of ours in Germany when I had fallen on the TA nad couldn't navigate the steps to his cousin's basement. I know he will do anything he can to help me, including staying here if needed.
  4. Checking in, but my PC is being flaky and won't open PTZ website. I'll have to use my phone.
  5. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Blessed Palm Sunday to those who celebrate. I'll salute all 3 days. The quote is true. I've never had shrimp tacos, but I would try one if someone made it for me. I like the pseudotini. I haven't been to Kiriwina Island. 3 good days in history. It started out in the 20's this AM, but is now 38 and sunny. It was not a good night; I had a lot of pain and have been up since 4AM (only about 2.5 hours sleep). I think I dreamed I exercised, which resulted in pain. The pain was almost 10/10 this morning, but has eased off now. I want to do laundry today. I have a choice of surgical dates in April, but think I'll pick April 22, since I need to get the house together and organized somewhat before surgery. And make some soups and chili that I can freeze and have at hand. I've been watching videos by EquipMeOT on YouTube (she's very good), who has a lot of practical information (like using a walker turned backwards over the commode as a support). I've ordered a few adaptive things from Amazon. Not being able to bend or twist will make a lot of things hard to do. I think I'll ask BFF to stay a day or two right after surgery. @RedneckBob Bon Voyage on part 2 of cruising! @grapau27 Thank you for the link. @aliaschief Great photos! @kazu I hope it's not too hard to get your excursion credit. I hope your weather improves soon. @StLouisCruisers Prayers for safe travels for DD. Nice photos from PNG. @cat shepard So good to hear that your Sister got good rest last night. Continued prayers for Tana, you and the family. @RMLincoln Enjoy going to the playhouse, and a meal out or home for leftovers. @marshhawk Yay, for another sale. I wonder if your "friend" is just lonely? Your coffee meme is me! @Haljo1935 Hugs to you and your family on this difficult day. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

  7. Yes! I suppose a ship has to be in the right spot to get that zoom.
  8. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I like chip and dip if it's tortilla chips and salsa. No kitten to cuddle here. Excellent quote. The meal sounds good. Pass on the drink and wine. I haven't been to Tolanaro. 3 good days in history; I love the Messiah and have gone to many performances of it. It's chilly here and rained overnight. It's clearing up. Our town is having an Easter Egg hunt, so I don't know if that went off. Rain date is tomorrow. I slept better last night, getting about 5 hours. The contractor is having the house cleaners come next week. That way I can try to get things put back in place before the surgery. Thank you for all your kind wishes about that. So much sadness in the world, especially the last 24 hours. Prayers for all. @summer slope Thanks for the link to the first drink ingredient, as I had no idea what it was. @kazu Ugh, sorry to hear the bad weather continues for you. Stay in and stay safe. @smitty34877 I hope no leaks or flooding for you! @dfish Thanks for the recipes. I'm glad the weather isn't keeping Sue from picking up River; enjoy having her with you. @cat shepard Good news on your Sister going home today. @marshhawk Congrats on the sale. I hope the hospital lasers get repaired so DH can get his vein problem fixed. @Heartgrove Great photos of Sam, and Juno. @Seasick Sailor I heard about that accident. So sad. A lot of others injured too. @RMLincoln Thanks. Before I tried out the injection, I started collecting things. I have a grabber, bought a pair of slip in shoes and a long handled shoe horn. I was reading the very comprehensive package put together by the NS's surgery prep RN and somewhat dismayed to hear no driving for 2 weeks. No bending, twisting or lifting more than 5 lbs for 6 weeks! I think that will be the hardest part to follow. Happy Heavenly Birthday to your DM! Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to those Celebrating.

  10. Well, I am scheduled for surgery likely on April 22. The surgeon didn't think another injection would be of benefit long term. There are 2 types of surgery. One involves a big incision, and to get to the area of interest a lot of muscles have to be peeled away from the spine. As a result that area may remain weaker and movement of the vertebrae may occur. The other procedure is more minimally invasive and involves a tubular retractor being inserted through a small incision and tools being passed through that. I chose that one, as did the doctor. Regardless, no driving for 2 weeks. No bending, twisting and no lifting more than 5 lbs for 6 weeks. No PT for 6 weeks. I need to get bloodwork, CXR and EKG done, as well as a pre-op exam by my PCP. And check with my Cardiologist and Rheumatologist. Fun times!
  11. Oh my, so much going on in the world today, and I was out of the loop until now. Prayers for the Princess of Wales as she fights cancer. Her frank talk was brave and i hope she can undergo her treatment and recovery in peace. Prayers for her and her family. Then the steam line bursting on NA, and the death of 2 crew members. Prayers for their families, and the other crew. And the shooting at a concert in Moscow, with 40 killed and over 100 injured.
  12. Good afternoon. Thanks for the FR/Daily @kazu@richwmn and @rafinmd. Be as young as feel and goof off today. They used to sell flowers at work to support cancer research. Good quote. I don't like coconut (a texture thing), so I'll pass on the meal. I'll take the drink and wine. I've had Coppola's cabinet sauvignon. I haven't been to Falmouth. 2 good days in history. I can hardly keep my eyes open. I need a nap (I'm back finishing this after an hour nap). I slept about 3-1/2 hours. I'll be off to my appointment in a half hour. @grapau27 I'm glad you're going to relax today. @kazu Sorry about the port change. Did they tell you why? @aliaschief Beautiful night. Thanks for sharing. @seagarsmoker @GTVCRUISER @Nickelpenny @sailingdutchy @ottahand7 Thanks for the Falmouth photos. @Cruzin Terri I hope you get relief from the injection. @smitty34877 That was so nice of you to reunite the sisters. @cat shepard Good news about your sister. I hope she does what she needs to and it's not too hard for Brayden. @RMLincoln I hope the oncologist has a simple plan re DH's PSA. Growing up along the Atlantic Ocean, my DM and I walked on the Boardwalk in our finery after church on Easter Sunday. I have a favorite photo from one of those times. @Heartgrove I'm glad Sam is still hanging in there. Wow, he's a big guy! @Vict0riann Sorry DD isn't behaving herself. I hope she doesn't worsen things. @Overhead Fred Lovely flowers. I haven't been able to make it to Keukenhof yet. Gotta run! Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.
