  1. The Executive Chef told me he wasn't certain but believed the change would be around a long time.
  2. Pardon me, OP. Megan would you please take a look at post 221 on the Carnival Permanent changes thread and verify that is the regularly served strip loin in the MDR. Now back to the show, Zanydoc! 🙂
  3. On the inaugural sailing there was a meet up with the Fantasy. Ecstasy was blowing the horn but the Fantasy barely eeked out a faint hearted short blast from her horn. Many excited Ecstasy passengers suspected Fantasy was jealous of no longer being the newest ship in the fleet.
  4. You surprised me because the rest of the regulars here got it... 😉
  5. Panorama has 1A Porthole cabins with a view and natural light in the room for an interior price. Cabins 2220 and 2221 have two twin beds that covert to a king and there's a couch with coffee table to boot!
  6. Yes, I agree. The flat iron is a tricky cut and if not butchered and trimmed correctly there is a wide band of sinew that runs through it making it tough. That's one reason some said theirs was tough and the person seated next to them would proclaim it tender. But the petite filet mignon was simply the best piece of beef included in the cruise fare and we sure do miss it.
  7. That looks better than what we were served in March. The strip loin that was served in the MDR was the same as the brunch and neither ever looked as good as this. Really, it didn't. I never realized Megan travels with a child. That beef looks like it's from the Steakhouse Selections on the MDR menu but can't be sure because it's been cut up for a child. Blerk, please let us know your opinion of the strip loin served at brunch when you've had it yourself.
  8. We agree and FYI the precooked weight of the petite filet mignon was 6 oz. It was so tender and delicious that we sailed 9 cruises on Panorama from October through March. It was late March when the filet was removed from the menu and the subpar strip loin substituted with its gristle and lines of sinew making it tough and inedible. We're trying Carnival Magic in November and hoping to see some of our old favorites on the menu again.
  9. This is another cut, making the Sea Day Brunch a buffet!
  10. Fewer Playlist Productions might be a good thing 🙂
  11. You read these threads way too fast, Jim. They were clear, they answered the question. Happy Cruising.
  12. Since March, the filet mignon that was served with the steak and eggs at brunch was replaced with the same nasty, tough strip loin served on the every night section of the MDR menu. Poor decision by Carnival.
  13. TESTING REQUIREMENTS (UPDATED 8/03/22) CRUISES 5 DAYS OR LESS Except where destination requirements differ (see below), effective with sailings departing August 4, 2022, there will be no pre-cruise testing for fully vaccinated guests booked on certain cruises with itineraries 5 days or less. Due to destination requirements, ALL guests on itineraries that include Bahamas, Bermuda and Grand Cayman must complete a pre-cruise test, irrespective of the length of the cruise. For itineraries that include Bahamas and Grand Cayman, guests may take either a PCR or antigen test starting 3 days before departure (for example, if the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken any time from Wednesday). For itineraries that include Bermuda, in order to comply with destination regulations, guests may take either a PCR or an antigen test within the timelines specified below: A PCR test within 72 hours prior to sailing (for example, if the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken any time from Wednesday). An antigen test no earlier than two days prior to sailing (for example, if the sailing is on Saturday, the test may be taken any time from Thursday). While the CDC has strongly recommended that individuals obtain a COVID-19 booster vaccination, when eligible, for the purposes of Carnival's protocols, the definition of “fully vaccinated” does not generally include reference to a booster except when explicitly stated. Boosters may be required for specific voyages based on duration or destination requirements. The following voyages require guests, age 12 and older, to be fully vaccinated. In addition, all guests, age 18 and older, who are more than 6 months past the last dose of their initial vaccine series must be boosted (if eligible) in order to sail: Carnival Pride® and Carnival Celebration™ Europe - All 2022 departures Carnival Splendor® 23-day Carnival Journey (Transpacific) - September 6, 2022 Carnival Spirit® 16-day Carnival Journey (Panama Canal) - September 20, 2022
  14. Yes, they won't need to test for the 3 and 4 days cruises the Radiance sails and no OP, testing is no longer performed at the pier.
  15. Three months ago on Panorama my cousin and his mom arrived at the steakhouse with him wearing linen dress shorts and he was turned away by the huffy hostess. They heard later that on Panorama it can be a matter of who is on duty at the host stand whether you can or cannot wear dress shorts. Good luck.
  16. Correct, the government of Turk and Caicos gave Carnival a lease but sold no land or exclusive rights to Carnival PLC.
  17. One approach to good use of space that provided a pool where you could actually swim laps was used by me on the old QE2. The liner had two indoor swimming pools located low and deep in the ship below the waterline. Because the ship was designed for transatlantic crossings, where the weather is usually chilly, 2 pools were indoors and two outdoors. Most mornings I had the indoor pools all to myself. One of the pools had the Golden Door Spa at Sea operation located adjacent to the pool so there was also a nice indoor hot tub at that pool. Today, on Vista Class ships for starters, Carnival could ditch the often underutilized Family Harbor Lounge, and with a little expansion, turn that space into an attractive indoor swimming pool.
  18. Thank you. Ernie's last last duty was CO of the NROTC unit at VPI.
  19. Neither of you received 25% of the cruise fare you paid as OBC? That's the best perk of the Milestone Reward program.
  20. Yes. Some years later Carnival combined racing into two separate but related events. First, it was in the Carnival Capers the day before racing day that guests could meet with a deck team member and select a horse to take and decorate the horse. On race day there would first be a contest for best decorated horse and a prize awarded (usually a bottle of sparking wine.) Then the races would begin. Both activities took place on lido.
  21. I first participated in betting on horses aboard the old Jubilee in 1991. At that time the races were held poolside underneath an awning that provided shade for those who wanted it. Having it on lido on a sunny sea day was perfect and there was lots of excitement and betting. Years later, in 2016, I played aboard Crown Princess where it was held in the evening in the main atrium. Still fun but not as busy or exciting. Carnival knew what it was doing when they made it a sea day activity held on the lido adjacent to the pool area. I'm hoping they will have horse racing on my Journey cruise in January.
  22. That, or if you have plans to book, or have booked, a more expensive cruise you can wait to use your Milestone Reward for one of those cruises for greater savings.
  23. We have sailed Panorama 9 times since January and like the layout and design of the ship. We used to sail Miracle for years so after 9 Panorama sailings we booked a 5 day cruise on Miracle in April of this year. We were sorry we did. After the bright and light filled interiors of Panorama the Miracle was as dark as a cave and gloomy.
