Purchase water package or bring our own?
Cruise a holic replied to prmami's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I would purchase the non-alcoholic package. Why drag water? This is your vacation. Enjoy. -
Junior Suite vs Grand Suite on Mariner
Cruise a holic replied to NoMadSean's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I wouldn't waste the $1000 on a true suite on that ship. If you can move up for a few hundred $$ do it. IMO not worth $1000. -
Balcony room on Symphony or JS on Freedom?
Cruise a holic replied to SuperPlanner's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Jr. Suite for four. You will have much more room. While the Freedom is older, you still have many great amenities for your family. I do not recommend the voyager class as one poster suggested. They are in dire need of redoing. Sailed on the Adventure in May and was so disappointed. Overall we love Royal and the Oasis class our favorite, but the freedom class comes next. Looking foward to the icon of the seas next year. -
Apex March 2023 Dinner Buffet Video Update
Cruise a holic replied to Cap_D's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Having been a lifetime dieter, I can say you can almost always find something low in calories to eat on a ship. I just make sure no gravy and I almost always skip dessert. I choose salads and green leafy veggies. Unfortunately, not always in diet mode- so that is why I need to diet 50 % of the time! Still, at my age, young senior, I seem to always be 15 lbs overweight! Enjoy -

What cabin do you usually sail in?
Cruise a holic replied to S.A.M.J.R.'s topic in Royal Caribbean International
We typically sail in a crown loft suite- and really try to only sail on Oasis class ships. -
Apex March 2023 Dinner Buffet Video Update

Don't agree. Most people- hopefully not you, over eat at buffets. Also unless you are very careful , much of the food has hidden butter and other dishes that can add calories. Good luck! -
Help Me Decide — Reflection or Beyond
Cruise a holic replied to JerseyGirlatHeart's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Love both classes. The E-class was wonderful. We had a sky suite. The service wonderful and the ship magnificent. We also enjoy the Reflection. The lawn club grill is one of our favorite restaurants at sea on the reflection and silly only- but we loved Eden on the E-class ships.! If you could split your vacation why not do both? We have done this before and it was fun! Also we were never fans of Blu, so really your choice- I would choose a sunset balcony on an e-class if I couldn't do a suite. Enjoy your cruises. -
We put our wallets, jewelry and passports in the safe- we were in a sky suite- safe isn't big.

Surviving the Ship’s Laundry?
Cruise a holic replied to LB_NJ's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Depends on your itinerary. If that works for you great. Laundry ok for not good clothes, underwear , tee shirts and anything that will survive a hot dryer, and dry cleaning ok but costly. -
Apex or Reflection ship for Caribbean Cruise?
Cruise a holic replied to debhaz22's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We wrote a review covering major points of our two week b/t/b Apex cruise. Loved it. But also enjoy the charm of the Reflection and Silhouette. -
Surviving the Ship’s Laundry?
Cruise a holic replied to LB_NJ's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We use laundry and dry cleaning service on a cruise- at least two loads a week- we also do not pack light. Use hooks for hand washables. We have good roller luggage and each take a large piece and a carry on- also a backpack purse for me. Sometimes an additional suit roller piece. This depends on the lenght of the cruise. As soon as we get to the airport we check luggage outside- and we immediately get a porter to assist when we arrive at our destination to bring us to our cab. Same leaving terminal. IMO worth it to pay for extra luggage if necessary and luggage assistance. Bring what you want on the cruise. -
How do people afford $20,000 suites?
Cruise a holic replied to Sigyn's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Depends on how big your nest egg is. We give gifts, but our children want us to have a great retirement -
How do people afford $20,000 suites?
Cruise a holic replied to Sigyn's topic in Royal Caribbean International
So sad that they gave money to their kids! Our kids make very good livings and support themselves and their families. They wouldn't want to rob us of a comfortable future. We give nice gifts to them and our grandchildren, but they are responsible for their own family. So said that your friends gave away all of their money and sad that the kids accepted it. -
How do people afford $20,000 suites?
Cruise a holic replied to Sigyn's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Many people are "super rich" in the world. Including our country. They have so much money that they cannot possibly spend it all in one lifetime. Also, some people might be terminally ill and say if not now never. I know people who were "comfortable" but were so obsessed with saving for their retirement and unfortunately never reached retirement. I believe you should enjoy your life when you can. However do not be irresponsible as you might be a lucky person and live past retirement. -
We saw Mama Mia. It wasn't three hours. It was great. Enjoy. So much better then CATs. I will not see again- but probably will pass this time on the Oasis in a few months ugh.

People had three or four in a cabin or suite. They anticipate in regular cabins/suites two. Lots of kids on our last apex sailing

Yes. We booked early at a great rate also. We typically book suites, but may havevto get used to lesser accommodations
-
I get sticker shock when I see the prices of the actual cruise. The airfare is also nuts now. Ironically the last cruise we were on a few weeks ago (celebrity apex) was overbooked. We were told that it was 105% of capacity. Clearly, lots of wealthy people out their. The prices aren't deterring them! All suites were booked.
