  1. If you are really interested in doing this trip, why not ship your formal clothes needed for QM2 to the ship prior to you leaving. Your luggage will be in your cabin once you board the ship. They pick the luggage up at your home about a week before you are boarding. The only issue you may have is getting a friend/relative to keep your luggage until the carrier picks it up. Luggage Forward is a good option. Many years ago we used DHL and the process went off without a hitch.
  2. I was just on the Rotterdam and the piano/singer duet in the Billboard were great. I spend most evenings after dinner listening to them. They go along with each other and surprised us all when they said they had only met each other on the day we boarded. Looking forward to seeing the performers in the Billboard on the Eurodam.
  3. I just got off the Rotterdam on Friday and there was not classical musical the entire 12 days. From the cruise lines I have been on lately you will have to board one of the Cunard ships for classical music. The string music was great on the Queen Mary 2 in September.
  4. I just used Luggage Direct in Fort Lauderdale and it was wonderful. The cost was $25. for the luggage pick up and checking it in at the airport, they also printed by boarding pass and checked me in for my flight. I also had to pay the $19.00 for the transfer to the airport, and the $30.00 to the airlines for the checked bag fee. So for a total of $74.00 paid by OBC was so great for me. Did not have to deal with lugging my suitcase until I got to my final destination. I will use this service again the next time I fly.
  5. I also was on this same sailing and it was wonderful. The weather was great and the service was top notch. I just wish they would make better use of the big screen on Lido deck. I enjoy watching the movies on deck at night. They seemed only to use it when there was a football game. Looking forward for my next sailing on the Eurodam.
  6. I received mine the same day I disembarked Queen Mary 2.
  7. I have my vaccine card in with my passport. I will be taking it as I just got the new booster last week. I was really glad that I could get it before I boarded a ship this week. I know it takes 2 weeks to get the full effect of the vaccine but I will have some when I get on the ship.
  8. MrsPeel55 I sure hope not. I love to take my book up to the library and find a wonderful comfy seat looking out and the sea and read away the day. I too hope Cunard does not do away with the dress code. That is the one thing that drew me to Cunard. Enjoy your next sailing.
  9. You would need the other persons booking number. Your travel agent would be able to link the reservations. No you do not need it for open dining, you just both need to show up at the same time.
  10. I love sailing on Queen Mary 2 out of NYC but I need some new places to visit. As much as I hated to do it but I looked at Holland America for 2024, found a very interesting 42 day to the Med and Atlantic. I have to bite the bullet and fly to FLL instead of driving to NYC. Sure hope I am not disappointed but I will make the best as I have not been to any of the ports on that cruise.
  11. I have a sailing on the QM2 that is going from NYC to Quebec and returning to NYC. It was booked as a 14 day roundtrip NYC-NYC. This is one way to not have any issues in Canada.
  12. The Anthem of the Seas has solo balcony cabins. I have not stayed in one yet but have one booked for next year.
  13. I wish they would sail out of NYC. It is just a short train ride for me if it is a short cruise or a car service to take me and all my luggage to the city. I have been sailing on Cunard Queen Mary 2 as it leaves from Brooklyn. Love sailing down the Hudson.
  14. You may want to consider Cunard Queen Mary 2 out of NYC. She does some great Canada/New England sailings. The only thing to consider is it a more formal cruise line and does adhere to the dress code. I know it is too close but they have a great sailing leaving NY on September 29, 2023. It is going to Halifax, Saguaney, Sept-Iles, 2 nights in Quebec City, Boston and returns to NYC for a 14 night sailing. You would also be able to end this in Quebec if you only wanted to 7 nights. If you are interested in seeing Europe, QM2 is a good choice for a crossing to Southampton. Once in Southampton, you can get on another ship or sometimes she does a trip to Germany, Belgium, LeHavre. In May I did a sailing on her to Southampton, the Norway Fjords and returned to NYC for 26 days. It was wonderful to see all these ports and not have to pack and unpack. Enjoy what ever you decide.
  15. I have chatted with several passengers on the Queen Mary 2 transatlantic moving to France. She was sailing to Southampton and then on to France along with her pets and lots of luggage. I have also encountered people relocating from Europe to the US. It is so much easier sailing than flying, No dealing with jet lag on the ship. The cruise lines would be able to answer all the questions that you have as I am sure they do this quite often.
  16. So sorry for you loss. I lost my husband the same time you did and it is hard to go it alone. My hand was forced to do a solo sailing a little before I wanted to but Dave made me promise him I would take our 50th wedding celebration we had planned. It was difficult but amazing. I was on the Queen Mary 2 and they treated me like royalty. My tablemates were so kind and supportive (did not know them before). I still keep in touch with them and in fact I am meeting a couple in NYC for a sailing to New England/Canada that I met on that sailing. Yes you will shed many tears but let them flow and then move on. I love having my own cabin so I do not think that I can share a cabin again but I love to met people on board. Go have an awesome time and look for your next adventure. Cruising is a great way to see Europe.
  17. Queen Mary 2 out of New York City do round trips to Southampton. That would give you 14 sea days. They are wonderful and have so much to do. The ship has a planterium, a theatre, a series of lectures, ballroom dancing, dance lessons, English Pub. If you look closely you can find really long cruises. This year in May I did a 19 day crossing including 5 days in the Fjords of Norway. TA's are the best way to avoid jet lag.
  18. Halifax is a great city to DIY. If you are interested in the Titanic make a visit to the Museum that is on Boardwalk. The history in that museum is so interesting. There is also a trip to the Titanic cemetery. Halifax is one of my favorite ports.
  19. I sent mine on May 31 and received the middle of July. It took about 8 weeks with just normal processing. At that time the processing time was 10 - 13 weeks plus shipping.
  20. We have used Trinity many times and they are good to work with. I know Trinity is not responsible for this issue. Using the hotels transport to the port is easy not return to the hotel had been a nightmare unless things have changed. We stayed at the Best Western Plus which is a nice hotel. The problem with the return trip is you call the hotel when you have your luggage and are headed to the pick up area. They give you no booking/confirmation number so you go to the area get in a huge group and wait. The people that get there after you do are in the front of the group and get on the next shuttle. The last time we stayed there it took as almost 2 hours to get on a shuttle to get back to the hotel for 1.25 hour trip home.
  21. I also live in PA and have used Amtrak to the cruise port in NJ and Brooklyn. I will be taking the train to the Moynihan station and booked a car with Carmella to take me to the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal and the Queen Mary, The car is only $60.00 which I do not feel is too bad for curbside pickup.
  22. I have cruised several times on Celebrity and enjoyed each cruise for different reasons. The service was good and the low number of children was good. It has been quite some time since I sailed on Holland America but that will change in October. I am finding longer and different itineraries on Holland America. I have been to all the Caribbean islands so it will be nice to go some different ports. I know one thing I will miss on Holland America is the Yum Yum Man.
  23. I saw the transfer from the ship to Moynihan is being offered for $60. and can only be booked once on the ship.
  24. I had mine done at AAA for my renewal. There is no charge for a member but not sure what they charge if you do not belong to AAA.
  25. On some cruise lines it does not matter if the cruise is paid in full it just must be before final payment due date. Some time it does not paid to request a price reduction, because you may lose the amenities you got when you first booked. Make sure it is worth it before you make any changes.
