  1. We had an atrium cabin many years ago and have not booked one since. You could not see anything except in the cabin across from you. You had to keep your blinds closed most of the time and depending what is going on they can also be noisy. I would book an oceanview instead.
  2. I have always had fixed dining due to dietary restrictions. I did open seating on my last Holland America cruise and it worked out great. I would just tell my waiter that I had a dietary need, would order my meals the night before. When you check in to get seated you give them your cabin number, go to your table and tell your waiter you pre ordered and your cabin #. They will request that order to be prepared at that time and will be served at your table when everyone else gets their meals. I am sure that Cunard would handle it the same way. You can always have your travel agent check with Cunard to get a correct answer. Enjoy your sailing.
  3. Make sure you or your travel agent request a low carb/no sugar added diet. You will be able to order your meals the night before, The choices will be to your needs and they do a great job.
  4. I just got off the Eurodam and spent most of my evenings in the Billboard. The duo was Trenton and Hunter and they were great. They had such a great show and feed off each others comments.
  5. I have a no added sugar diet and have never had an issue with this on the QM2. I do let the cruise line know when I book my sailing. I go to the dining room as soon as I get on board to follow up but it has always been noted. The first evening I just tell the wait staff and they are able to accommodate my needs. I am always given the menu the night before. Most meals can be made to suit your needs and if not they will tell you that the chef could not make that choice as needed. They do an amazing job with my needs.
  6. I also do not sail RC as much as I use too. Last trip on the Enchantment was ok but different than some of the previous ones. The food was not up to the standard I remember, the ship is always crowded. I was moved on to Cunard and Holland America. My experiences on these 2 lines are so different that Royal. Just so you know this decision was not made quickly as I am Diamond Plus,
  7. That soft shell crab looked wonderful. Hope it was a good as it looked. Love them and get them every chance I can.
  8. You will love Cunard but make sure that you dress for the gala nights. It is so much fun and just gives the ship a glamours feel. Check out the lecturers that are on board, they are all very interesting. The library has some amazing seats in front of the windows where you can sit, read and watch the ocean go by. Enjoy your sailing.
  9. Hope the air conditioning is fixed before I get on board Tuesday. I can not wait to get out of this cold snowy snap we are having in PA. Last year we got about 5 inches of snow all winter and this week we have gotten about 10 inches. Way more than I want. Enjoy the rest of your cruise and hope to see you on board.
  10. I am sorry you are going through this. Your TA will have to help you and I would go up the chain of command as high as you can go. If she really did this I would report them to the BBB and post something on Facebook so everyone can see it. You need to find a new travel agent. If you call Holland, you should be able to talk to a supervisor or a pricing specialist on Monday and explain this to them and I am sure they will be able to give you more detail. Just have all your booking confirmations, emails, and credit card receipts. Good luck and I hope you get this solved real soon.
  11. I have been wearing a mask when I fly and sometimes in the theatre when I hear someone coughing their heads off. It sounds like they should be in their cabins or wearing a mask. I have also gotten up and moved my seat when someone was coughing real bad sitting beside me. So far this plan has worked well for me and I have stayed safe.
  12. Yes there are travel agents that have reserved a block of cabins at the rate in effect at the time they created the group. Most of the time the rate is less than what is being charged today. They may also offer a shipboard credit or a specialty dinner that was is not being offered by Holland at this time.
  13. Do you use a travel agent? You may want to check with a travel agent on a cruise you are thinking about. They may have a block of cabins that they reserved when the date originally opened. You maybe able to get a cheaper rate with added bonus.
  14. I have a check in time for my Jan 24 cruise but not cabin assigned yet. I know I can get on the ship just need to find someone to share a cabin with me. I would prefer my own bedroom in the penthouse.
  15. I also join you on the 24th and have started to get things out that I do not want to forget. My books and my hat, sunscreen, water shoes. It is getting really cold in PA this next week. I am over snow and winter.
  16. I am sorry for your loss. I loss my DH 2 years ago and made several solo sailings. I boarded by myself but met some friends I met on other sailings. My first solo sailing was on QM2 and buried my DH at sea. It was the easier thing to arrange. You do have to contact the cruise line and furnish proof that the urn is biodegradable and a certificate from the crematorium. They will email you all the details and once on board the Captain will inform you when the ceremony will be. QM2 has a private area where the service is performed and you are able to stay in that area for as long as you need. It is interesting and different to sail solo and I have enjoyed them all. I hope you enjoy them and keep traveling the world.
  17. In response to the dogs (service or non), I just read an article on the Royal Caribbean's new ship Icon. It is just going into regular service and it was reported they will have a permanent dog living on the ship as their mascot. Boy what problems is that going to cause with passengers. Afraid it may get ugly.
  18. My husband had so many cruises during our marriage. We did enjoy each one with many different experiences and memories. I am now traveling solo but still cruising and making new memories and remembering all the great times we had in some of my return visit to ports. Hope you are able to cruise again. Cruising is a great way to travel as you can what you want, when you want, and how much you want.
  19. Nancy and John. I am looking forward to following along for a few weeks as I will be joining you on the 24th for 10 days. Have a great cruise.
  20. I would check with several local travel agents to see what specials they have. They may have some group spaces on hold. They will be able to find you 3 cabins in the same vicinity and would be able to cross reference your booking numbers so you would have the same dining time at the same table. You will enjoy your sailings on Cunard.
  21. I have no problems getting my HAL Booking confirmation/invoice for all the bookings I make. Hope you are able to get the information you are looking for.
  22. rj1227 I am sorry you did not completely enjoy your crossing. It takes some getting use to sailing solo, which I have had to do the last two years. I have leaned to enjoy this and entertain myself if I want to continue to travel. I learned from the very beginning you need to have a fixed dining time and table. That is the way you meet some very interesting people. On my first crossing in 2022, I met many great people and I have sailed with several of them since that first sailing. On my crossings they have a craft corner every afternoon at 3PM in the Carinthia lounge. Many women joined that group to chat, crochet, knit and like me cross stitch. They reserve a corner for us and it is a great way to spend an hour or so. I also enjoyed the solo meet up they had every morning on sea days. It was hosted by a Cunard crew member with coffee, tea and cookies. They were well attended and many friends were made. It was nice to walk around the ship and recognize people that you have chatted with before. Hope you are able to find a cruise line that you would enjoy if you continue to cruise.
  23. In 2012 my husband had to be airlifted from Labadee to the DR for medical reasons and they checked his passport before they even put him in the helicopter and then again when they landed at the hospital. I just renewed by passport and I am in the 70's but I hope to travel internationally as long as I am able. I figured the passport book only cost you $13.00 a year. So when you renew your passport, put $1.00 in a bank for you to renew your passport in 10 years.
  24. Wesport on my last cruise on the Rotterdam I got an upsell offer. At first it seemed good until I called and it was double that rate due to sailing solo.
  25. Roy sending prayers for a speedy recovery and you are soon home.
