  1. I believe that you will have a very good chance. On our recent cruise, there was plenty of availability for Specialty Restaurants even though a few weeks before, there appeared to be none. In fact, there were good discounts being offered. I suspect the rapid price increases has been a factor in booking
  2. We had rain and wind while docked at FLL and Nassau on the Ascent last month. Same was true while heading to Nassau. There was never any closure from the bridge. We had access each time. However, on the Beyond, the window could not be opened while in port at FLL in sunny weather. Go figure. I guess it is the discretion of the captain.
  3. But if are walking around in Rome with a lanyard....
  4. For the first night, you will be "assigned" to a dining room and a suggested time. Just show up each night to whatever dining room and the time of your choosing. If you happen to have a preference after the first night or so, just mention it. We like to try the different dining venues even though all the dishes are available in each MDR. It truly was Anytime Dining. (I had made reservations but was told on board that it was Anytime)
  5. Last time we were in Falmouth, I was surprised how few people left the ship. We walked around the marketplace and it was relatively empty. Then when I got near the gate, I noted armed security and many locals waiting to say hi to cruisers. I do agree that it Is a beautiful country and have enjoyed going to Dunn River Falls and a botanical garden. I have nice memories of those excursions. Another memory were dolphins following along the ship as it left the harbor.
  6. We did an escorted cruise and boy, was it ever bizarre. People jumped in front of our bus and the bus driver played "chicken" with them. Driver said he would never stop. Then there were the motorcycle gangs. OMG. I would never leave the compound unless being driven by an experienced local driver.
  7. We received cardholders in our room. Never use a lanyard...
  8. Is there a laundromat on Celebrity? Why can't I log in to my Celebrity account? When is FORMAL night?
  9. That was not the case on the Beyond. They displayed two models of MacBooks. The difference between them was that one had the previous year's chip and the other had the newest chip. There was a difference in price which was similar to that in the Apple Store back home. There were 4 of each model on display in the case.
  10. This appears to be a pattern in the individual's other postings. I also think assistance is needed in how to use a search engine.
  11. From New England, the water felt warm to me. Not like a "senior pool". Bring your snorkeling equipment. Water can be cloudy depending on the seas and weather. Food is picnic, buffet style. Nice eating on the picnic tables outside.
  12. I have found that just after the final payment date, prices may tend to go lower and additional rooms open up. So if you were looking for a particular location like a sunset veranda or one on the hump, then I would probably wait. It is a dilemma...
  13. On the Ascent, I had to return the form to the Guest Relations Desk. The fee was charged to our OBC. The service worked really well for us as we avoided the need to check in the luggage at the FLL airport. The luggage tags for were in our room two days before departing the ship. Glad it is back.
  14. They could even dine at the Mast Grill and get unlimited burgers, hot dogs and fries with all the fixings.
  15. On the Beyond, they had the latest and the previous generation of MacBooks and iPads. On the Ascent, they had no iPads but had the latest MacBooks. They were out of MacBooks when we boarded but received them at one of our ports-Cozumel.
  16. Earplugs or noise cancelling headphones are recommended for a couple of reasons. One is that on the Beyond, there are many noisy rooms with banging and creaking. There is a thread on this. Also, God knows why they put the pickle ball court where they did. If having a drink in that area or in the tub, you may need those items.
  17. Both ships are really classy. We were on two capacity cruises in the Caribbean. Eden was not a quiet place. There was corn bowling, golf, art classes and trivia contests there. Place was packed. But the biggest problem was lunch at Oceanview. Seating was difficult to come by and the place was real busy. We quickly learned to eat elsewhere such as the lunch cafe at Eden. Food and accommodations were excellent. We loved the Captains on the Ascent over the Beyond. . .
  18. Unofficially, we were told it may be due to the amount of plastic used in the components being walls and ceilings. We were fortunate on the Beyond to have a quiet room.
  19. I would pick my own room as some of the cabins are not desirable. Not thrilled with window washing equipment blocking my view, fitness center above me, etc. Aqua class rooms are on Deck 11. You can each bring a bottle of wine aboard and if you purchase one, they will hold it for you for another meal. The menus are posted each morning and you can decide where to have dinner. As the tables are very close together on the Reflection, you will have the opportunity to meet others. They are about 12 inches apart. Entertainments does occur at two separate times in the Theater.
  20. The Basic WIFI is no longer available for new reservations. You book the Premium. The upcharge to move from Classic to Premium runs about $15 a day but there may be sales on certain holidays.
  21. We would be pulled over and given a field sobriety test if we drove like that.
  22. I still like DQ ice cream. Tastes better than some you mention.😄
  23. Yes, you can just walk up to any of the 4 MDRs at the time you want to dine. Called Anytime Dining.
  24. The food in Luminae does not compare to most of the Specialty Restaurants in my opinion. There are excellent champagnes available but may incur an additional cost- plus tip The ship will feel crowded as compared to those you have been sailing. Stay away from the Oceanview buffet upon boarding and on sea days. Quite the experience I must say. If you are celebrating a special occasion, then book early so as to pick your day and time. Otherwise, wait until you are onboard. You will possibly get a discount once on the ship. On our cruise, it was about 20- 30% off with good availability.
  25. I was able to make changes onboard to my existing reservation that had been booked directly at the Travel Desk on the ship. I wonder if that made a difference. Also, I have changed the same reservation several times and because I had a refundable fare, there was no $100 fee.
