  1. We were in a suite on Majestic last month and were told to go to Concierge Lounge (and I think also the Casino ? if we preferred) then we would be taken to the next available tender. Unfortunately the port was cancelled because of bad weather so didn't get to check it out.
  2. Just had an email advertising Princess Asian itineraries - now they are a bit over the top dollar wise!
  3. It's a hard road Uncle Les and I don't envy you at all. I like many others here have had our run-ins with the B@stard disease and I send you every wish for successful treatment. Hugs to you and for those who will support you.
  4. Majestic has been designated Level 2 so there will be impacts to disembarkation and flow on to boarding.
  5. I was a little disappointed that Majestic had not put up its decorations in late November. Some years ago a friend and I were on Radiance OTS at the same time and when we got up one morning, the ship was decorated - such a surprise and it looked wonderful. Silversea did two formal meals for Christmas - and both were excellent - from memory pheasant or similar Christmas Eve and I think turkey etc on Christmas Day.
  6. But I miss Crooners. The bars on Majestic have really limited seating and I found the staff were less than proactive in taking orders unless you were sitting at the bar.
  7. Trying to remember - we had a Penthouse suite - there were 2 USBs in the bedroom behind the lamp and at least one two-prong outlet, with another one which I can't exactly remember. In the sitting area there were outlets near the fridge. Sorry can't remember exactly but there were enough for me.
  8. I don't cruise RCI much at all, but as a general statement, if passengers with late boarding time rocked up early, creating delays for the earlier ones, I would not be happy. Not directed at you but I would hope the cruise line would be checking boarding times of pax as they arrive for any cruise I was on. .
  9. I just don't get bigger is better. There is no way I (and even with DH) could possibly eat that sandwich or cake. I can't believe how much some people manage to put away! Even on a cruise I have seen people order 2 main courses and 2 desserts. Usually it is an entree (appetiser) and main only for us and sometimes we dispense with the entree.
  10. That's a real shame. Interesting that Majestic is still listed as Tier 1 on the Sydney Health site - though that was from yesterday (1 Dec). Did they give a reason for the testing of all pax?
  11. Although I didn't have the escargot, my companion did and they were quite strange (even he, who loves escargot commented that they were odd). Sort of deep fried with no sauce and looked very dry, Thanks to the poster who said to ask for traditional escargot - a pity they don't mention it or even note it on the menu.
  12. It is disappointing to cancel a cruise but I feel it was the right decision for you at this time. I am not sure how full Quantum will be but I felt a lot more comfortable on Coral where there were less than the max passengers and it was a smaller ship than on Majestic last week (the ship may not have been full but there were a lot of people on board). I will aim to find smaller ships I think to try to cut down on the total number of people around me.
  13. That's interesting as I have seen a lot of shops with 'card only' signs and they don't accept cash payments (even things like sushi etc).
  14. Good luck for tomorrow. Will have all fingers and toes crossed for you.
  15. Not sure about dropping your luggage - if possible I would try to get a MYKI before your go to Port Melbourne. As others have said the convenience store has gone though there is a MYKI card sale machine at the tram stop (though we heard from others that it only did 7 day cards). If you take the Skybus to Southern Cross, there is a PT Vic office in the main concourse area. Depending on how much luggage you have, you could mooch around the outlet centre to see if there is anything you want to buy (either with your luggage or there are lockers at the station). Then take Tram 109 to the pier when ready.
  16. Recently dined on board Majestic Princess - and unlike most posters above, was not overly impressed. Service was OK, certainly not great and there was quite a bit of traffic going past as the area is not at all private. Menu I thought was rather bleh. Others of course will have a different view. We preferred Crown but again I don't think it was as good on Majestic as on other ships.
  17. We found the early shows were much busier than the later ones - only did a couple of shows but won't do early again if conditions remain similar.
  18. On Majestic I saw Princess staff in the theatre with a box of masks - the people a couple of rows in front of me didn't have masks on and he came over to them. One did put a mask on but the other took it off when he left. Most people did comply with the rule although there were quite a few chin breathers around. We didn't find it a problem to wear a mask. Given the continued number of cases on board, it is not an issue for us at all - every little bit helps.
  19. We were in a suite and had shower gel in the pump pack but individual shampoo and conditioner small bottles. No cakes of soap (but didn't ask) and no blue Princess bags (which we don't use anyway).
  20. We went to Mawson's Hut as well but on the Wednesday. Have been to Hobart many times but never visited the hut - thought it was very interesting .
  21. No, we aren't but have sailed on Silver Muse before and we like her very much. Had 2 bookings which were cancelled in the 'pause' as they like to call it. Silversea has lost a bit of appeal for us with the Door-to-Door model and the included shore excursions. We are more the self exploring type especially in areas we know. We particularly like the fact there is not one large MDR and the two offerings are both different. The Grill outside is lovely as well when it is warm weather (last time in NZ over Christmas it was absolutely freezing). You might check over in the roll calls section to see if there is one set up for this cruise.
  22. Interesting to know as I didn't go hunting. We were on Riviera and really had no reason to visit Dolphin.
  23. DH just sent me the link - wonder what the situation is like on board? Majestic was back to Level 1 last week and the CD did say there had been few crew with COVID in the recent outbreak. I didn't see any tables outside cabins though not really looking - also the short cruise would have meant positives may not show up till after they return home.
  24. QM2 is a special ship (or she was for the three times I have been on board). I just love her. The concerts and lectures were fabulous and were tailored for the region sailing through. Food in the MDR had improved from the first cruise and was generally excellent. We had a hosted table on one cruise which was wonderful; in hindsight my companion (Pushka) and I should probably asked for a different table on the third cruise as table mates were strange to say the least and one person had a real chip on her shoulder against Australians. There were always plenty of cultural activities for sea days and I would love to be on her again.
  25. Please don't take my word as gospel. The weather made for many more people inside so maybe that's why it felt more crowded. And of course, a day on the ocean beats one stuck in your lounge room! The ship is very new and so things are 'nice' - no noticeable rusting and not the awful sewerage smell I remember from Dawn and Sea. MUTs seemed to be a much better screen and sound system which was good as well. We certainly enjoyed ourselves - don't get me wrong on that.
