  1. I think all cruise lines are suffering from post covid issues, especially crew staffing and supply chain issues. While the reports are somewhat disturbing, we need to give O and other lines a chance to come back. Comparing food/crew experiences pre-covid to post covid is a bit of and apples and oranges.
  2. Thanks. We are aware of the ArriveCan requirement for flying into Toronto. While we agree that we shouldn't need a second one for boarding as you pointed out, our concern is that Viking info line says we need one and 3 out of 4 folks on the ArriveCan folks on their help line also say we do. But if the official folks are confused, what do we do, if the boarding folks say we do need it? Regardless...yes! Sail away!!!
  3. I think it left Vancouver and visited only Us ports afterward, not returning to Canada, but the post was not entirely clear.
  4. Yes. 2 full days prior to boarding (assuming the flights go as planned), then 1 full day before departure (i.e. an overnight). We've been making a list of museums and other places to see. Do you have any recommendations? Our joint email is maxwell dot lutz at gmail dot com, if you have suggestions and don't want to take this thread further off topic.
  5. Yes, I agree there is no reason to not fill it out. But I did a mock form, and it asked for embarkation port (Toronto), then it asked for the first port of arrival in Canada. Would that be Toronto, or Saguenay, or...? On one the Alaska cruises leaving from Vancouver, a pax filled it out guessing and got a call or email from the Canadian Immigration Folks in the middle of the cruise requiring him to be present for a test as he was in violation. It took some time to straighten it out. That's what I want to avoid.
  6. Thanks Lyn. That was my reading. But the worry is how the ship's embarkation folks read it. Hate to be denied embarkation because someone at the dock thinks it's required. (PS. Is it Lyn or Lynn? My memory fails me.)
  7. This has been a question on our upcoming Viking Expedition cruise. We board in Canada, then leave Canada, with port calls only in Canada before sailing to our final destination, New York. So far, we have had Viking say that, if already in Canada, you need an ArriveCan to board the ship and then that you do not. The ArriveCan telephone hotline operators say the same thing in different calls: you do and you don't. The ArriveCan info site say you don't need one if you depart from Canada and don't leave Canadian waters or you are leaving Canada. Have folks on Oceania's Alaskan Cruise, departing from Vancouver had any words of wisdom to contribute?
  8. 1. Depends on the brand and model of your phone. 2. No, as long you are sending/receiving calls/texts back/from the US. International calls placed over WiFi calling are charged at Verizon's standard international rates.
  9. Petoonya- You are much too kind, but thanks for the remarks.
  10. We'll miss you 😢, but do continue to contribute your knowledge to this board. You were a great contributor.
  11. Sorry, I wasn't clear with my answer: I meant entering Canada by air, train or land, a pretest is not required. But, yes, if one is arriving in Canada by ship, a pretest is required.
  12. One doesn't need a pretest to enter Canada from the US per se , but one does need it to board a cruise ship in Canada.
  13. As advertised is "up to" 4 categories, not 4 categories. But often the upgrade is a good one even if not 4 categories. So feel good about what you snagged.
  14. I think you meant this question for @KirkNC.
  15. This is clearly stated in T-Mobile's Terms and Conditions for international access, so you shouldn't have been surprised. How is Google-Fi's coverage in the US and how does the plan price and inclusions compare? Interested in hearing more.
  16. Yes. Once in your cart, you need to confirm the bookings by paying. Otherwise, they are only "intentions," not booked and not reserved.
  17. Our experience has been that usually you can add the transfer (for a cost) to your invoice before final payment or on the ship when the disembarkation info is distributed before disembarking, space available.
  18. There is a separate thread on this topic. No need to have dueling thread, especially since this is off topic.
  19. Have you looked at the September 26 to October 10, 2023 Riviera Amsterdam to Barcelona cruise? It's a bit later and 2 days longer but has a similar itinerary which overlaps several of the ports on the Marina cruise? That one has no brackets for Barcelona 😉.
  20. Looking at last year's 2023 Collection of Voyages catalogue (the big book), it was listed as "Barcelona (Tarragona), Spain." So it's not new. Did you just miss it?
  21. Go to your account and click on settings. There you will see the signature box or a link to settings area (depending on whether your on a desktop or phone/laptop) where the signature box will be. Good luck.
  22. My point (with which I think your post agrees) was that it is best to avoid generalities on whether it's a good deal, since it's a function of how much and what you drink in a typical cruise day. No size fits everyone. In our case, we're not scotch drinkers, and by taking advantage of Happy Hour, we rarely exceed $25 per day (per person) in alcoholic beverages, and once the free drinks at the Captain's reception and loyalty reception, we average even less. But even if we miss Happy Hour occasionally, we have a hard time spending $50 on that day. Our calculations on cost of Prestige with an O-Life upgrade is about $45-47 per day per person. But that's just us.
  23. No exactly. What I was trying to say is that you can only upgrade to the Prestige Package for $20 only if you chose the House Select as an OLife benefit. So to get the Premium package upgrade you have to pay the OLife fare. So the total cost of the Premium package is $20 per day plus the Olife cost (for which you can figure out the per day cost). I think you're saying that if look at the additional cost of $20 per day as the cost of drinks outside the wine and beer at lunch and dinner, it's a good deal. But to find out whether it's a good deal for you need to ask how the per drink costs of wine and beer and cocktails in total would be for the cruise compared the the OLife +$20 per day (or $60 per day if you simply buy the Prestige Package). So we compare what we would spend per adult beverage for the cruise length vs $60 pd (or Olife+$60 pd) for all our alcoholic drinks on board. For us, it doesn't make sense, since we only occasional have wine or beer with meals.
  24. It's not the number of cruises, but the number of cruise credits. 10 is needed for included gratuities. One cruise credit for any cruise less than 25 days.
