    Call it a tourist trap, but one with gorgeous views and wide, walkable paths. We’re locals and go often to enjoy a walk. Better restaurants will be closer to the ship - Fish Market and Brigantine. Enjoy.

    Is there a waiting list? “Sold out” tours often add buses/open more spaces if there is enough demand. Good luck.

    I agree with car rental. It’s hard to get around SD without a car. Plan your drive back to lax for after 7:00pm.

    We will be on the Discovery with kids 7 & 9. We have Princess Plus, but not a separate package for the girls. Can we get them drinks, smoothies etc when we order, or do we need to purchase packages for them? Or just pay as we go….. thanks.

    You can turn in your laundry immediately, but it won’t be returned as fast due to turnover day.

    From the Holiday Inn Bayside you can easily walk to Seaport Village, the Midway museum, the ferry to Coronado.

    Between the construction, the traffic, and the luggage, that would be one miserable walk. Stick to Uber or taxi, and once you have dropped your bags, take a nice walk along the Embarcadero, Gaslamp, Little Italy, or Seaport Village!

    Ask on your roll call to see if anyone else is doing the same thing. We shared a car and driver from London to Southampton with another couple (several years ago, and we both happened to be staying at the Premier Inn.). It worked out well. We even made a stop for some sightseeing - I think it was in Windsor? Made it an interesting day.

    That’s terrible. Per the local news, the San Diego airport/ Southwest is still a mess.

    Learned the hard way that it’s much less expensive to book the Alcatraz tour yourself!

    We were on a three week Med cruise in September. We had pre-reserved a table for 2, but still every night they asked if we were willing to share. If you meet people you want to eat with every night, you can arrange that with the people who guard the door; but if you are just looking for a shared table you shouldn’t have an trouble.

    I got reservations for all the specialty restaurants! Is there a way to book a time in the MDR for the remaining evenings, or does that have to wait until we’re on board? I can’t seem to find it. Thanks again!

    Thanks everyone, that’s very helpful. I’m going to try to book them all! I appreciate the confirmation of Gala nights. We are on the Koningsdam, January 7. My husband prefers to dine early, that usually makes it easier for us to get reservations. I’ll find out tomorrow!

    Long time princess cruiser, will be first time on Holland America. It’s a week long Mexico cruise on Koningsdam. I’m looking for any advice about booking the specialty restaurants, and dining advice in general. Should we try them all?! Thanks in advance! Lynda

    I just booked the Discovery for a cruise in April. The medallion app says “no booking number found.” The website does display correct information. is this normal? When do bookings typically show up on the app? Thanks!

    We found a guide through Tour by Locals., did a walk to see all the mosaic sites, then she gave us a couple of recommendations for lunch!

    I booked some Princess excursions for our Regal cruise next month. Since we’re Elite, we should get a 10% discount, but we were charged full price. Anyone have experience with this? Who’s the best person to talk to? I’d like to get $$ back , not OBC…. Thanks for any advice. Lynn
