  1. Though I've never done it, it seems that cruises are not a great way to see Europe. Many European destinations are great to experience at night or early morning, which you will miss on a cruise. Many ports are far from where you really want to be (Rome, Florence, etc). The one exception I might try sometime in a cruise up the west coast of Norway. Also, the Voyage of the Vikings looks interesting.
  2. There are websites out there (can't be mentioned here) that show cruises with lower single supplements. I rely on one site in particular.
  3. For my Alaska trip in June, I'm planning on taking my R5, RF 100-400, RF24-240 and maybe my RF 16mm. Leaving my 150-600 Tamron at home. I reserve the right to change my mind. 🙂 Don't forget binoculars. Essential in Alaska for spotting distant whales and other wildlife.
  4. I will be there in the latter part of June.
  5. I think the railroad is MUCH more scenic. However, I like renting a car so I can photograph bears on the side of the road.
  6. Why do I always think there is a bear behind me at Yakutania Point?

    Tracey Arm

I'm only aware of two ways to do TRACY Arm. First, is for your ship to arrive in Juneau at 7 a.m. or earlier and stay until at least early evening. Its a 10 hour trip through Adventure Bound leaving at 8 a.m. Second, is on a northbound itinerary that arrives in Juneau at 1-ish. The ship deboards passengers for the TRACY Arm Excursion near the entrance to TRACY Arm and then continues on to Juneau. The excursion visits TRACY Arm and then meets up with the cruise ship back in Juneau. Others may know if this excursion is possible on certain southbound itineraries out of Juneau. Same idea, but in reverse. If you get the chance, TRACY Arm is a beautiful excursion. P.S. Repeat after me: TRACY Arm, not Tracey Arm. Icy STRAIT, not Icy Straight.
  8. Website is very outdated and suggests its closed. Anyone know for sure?
  9. It looks interesting. I've done just about everything I care to do in Juneau on prior trips.
  10. Cash may be King, but he's being dethroned throughout the world.
  11. The Kenai Fjords boat trip out of Seward is perhaps my favorite "excursion" in Alaska. Plenty of time to get back to your ship after the boat trip.
  12. Icy STRAIT, people. It's Icy STRAIT. Sheesh.
  13. Excursions and port activities drive my dining time. Therefore, open dining makes the most sense for me. I'm getting more comfortable with a big table with strangers as long as everyone has their hearing aids turned up. (Don't think I'm joking)
  14. I parked at Canada Place for 7 days in June. Booked ahead of time. Unfortunately, the code on my confirmation didn't work when I was leaving. Finally, an employee came along and fixed things. Still trying to get a one day overcharge refunded to me. Indigo, WestPark, beats me.
  15. Yes, ArriveCan is SOOOOOO difficult to use. Come on people, quit whining.
  16. Is it ever going to quit raining in Juneau?
  17. Wear pants and a shirt and you'll be fine.
  18. I think it is reasonable to expect people to take appropriate precautions to minimize the spread. Wearing a N95 or KN95 mask is a simple, effective way to minimize the spread. But apparently to many cruisers, asking them to wear a mask is like asking them to storm the beaches of Normandy.
