@Sthrngary, no worries here. We are on Vista which could be why I'm not seeing things yet. You have given us a road map on how to find it on the website so you have been a great help. Thanks for this. Lori

Thanks Lyn. We'll be making final payment shortly so I'll keep looking and waiting.

Thank you for taking the time out of your holiday to give us the scoop. I do have a question about the La Reserve dinners. Can you only book these once on board or can you reserve when the other dining reservations open? Enjoy your cruise ORV.

Would you link to this statistical site? Were going on a road trip in spring and I'd like to check out the places we plane on driving to. Thanks in advance!

Appropriate dress for dining venues on Oceania
PirateShark replied to Sullivans10's topic in Oceania Cruises
Guess I'll tell my better half not to pack a Hawaiian shirt then 😳😆. He will bring a sport jacket though because he knows the air conditioning gods are a fickle bunch. -
While we enjoyed our Regatta Alaska cruise, we prefer the amenities and space of the O ships. We're hoping they move a larger ship to Alaska since none of the current itineraries require the smaller ship anyway.

What to do with the complimentary Oceania bottle of wine?
PirateShark replied to jonthomas's topic in Oceania Cruises
Thankfully I'm not that much of a white wine drinker! Although the red could be the equivalent of "experiments in winemaking" from the sounds of it. I grew up with homemade wine so if I can live through that, I can live through this 😂 -

Absolutely nothing wrong with drinking what you enjoy. I've been known to change my sommelier nephews mind occasionally with a decidedly bargain bottle. Price does not equal quality or value. -

We are indeed in the heart of the beautiful Willamette AVA and are spoiled and blessed in equal measure. -

I grew up in the industry but my palate isn't precious 😉 (although my current cellar may say otherwise). We are perfectly happy with an everyday drinker so we will definitely give it a go for a in room tipple. Thank you very much for your perspective. -

We'll get our first free bottle this year. Is it truly `undrinkable ` like corked/flawed or just not to your taste? -
Questions re Specialty Dining Reservations
PirateShark replied to MarkWiltonM's topic in Oceania Cruises
Considering RG is my least favorite (shellfish allergies make most Asian restaurants a minefield to begin with), I personally wouldn't miss it for pre-boarding reservations. That being said, their lack of information on how reservations will work for these two restaurants is odd. Guess we'll find out shortly. -
Our route is a little more competitive than the Bilbao to LAX? In our particular situation, the math worked better DIY. As I said, it depends on your circumstances. I'm very happy that yours worked out great for you 😊. Enjoy your cruise!

A lot depends on where you are embarking and where you are flying from. Example: we fly from SFO to LHR in August. When we booked in 2021, the air allowance was $550 plus $149 premium econ upgrade one way. The math at booking was reasonable even with a potential deviation fee factored in. Today, I booked independently because the allowance plus deviation wouldn't get me anywhere close to a decent flight as prices have drastically increased. Long story short, keep all your options open and decide closer to departure if you can. You may also have points accrued by that time, making DIY even more attractive.

HAL To Focus on Longer Cruise Itineraries
PirateShark replied to DCThunder's topic in Holland America Line
What a charming port! I'm so glad we'll be visiting Killybegs on a cruise later this year. Thank you for sharing. -
Thank goodness I purchased our packages for our 30 day voyage already 😳😳😳.
-
I suspect you're right. We bought our drink packages yesterday in anticipation of Oceania raising prices on that and other things. Don't necessarily like to prepay that but with the way inflation is going, who knows where this all ends up in August 2023 for our cruise.
-
Are they planning on raising prices for 2023 on things like beverage packages, La Reserve etc and if so, would it be day January?

Thanks! I'll hold my horses for now. With someone having a coronation next year in London 😉, I'm anticipating that plans could get upended so I'm hoping they announce the date of said coronation shortly. Makes planning a little easier then. -

Just out of curiosity, how far in advance of final payment are these pre/post land options available for purchase? We're debating DIY vs Oceania and price/details are needed to make our decision. -
First things first. A glass of champagne.

Getting in ship intranet is a cost center for O as is app development and beta testing so this is probably a cost consideration for them. I'm surprised however they are not leveraging NCLs platforms to save some costs (they might already be doing that - who knows!). That being said, I'm all for unplugging for a holiday. During COVID i had a steep tech learning curve working from home. I'm proficient enough to where I don't mind QR codes, apps, etc to assist my life. DH on the other hand is a analog guy who happens to be proficient with his iPad but not his phone. I just hate wasting all that paper. My long winded way of saying that we're going with the flow on vacation and app or no app, we're there to enjoy our time on ship, sailing the world.

Oceania on-ship activities and entertainment
PirateShark replied to wildcats40's topic in Oceania Cruises
Of interest to anyone sailing Vista next year, they have a bocce court (according to the current deck plan). That should be fun on sea days since we love bocce as a family activity on land.
