  1. Contact Ship Services in Seattle - 800-541-1576 hal_ship_services@hollandamerica.com And ask for the coordinator for your particular ship..
  2. Maybe, or maybe not... depending on what the price tag was for those 'upgrades'.
  3. Do you know if the hotel shuttles pick up at the same area as the taxis and ride shares?
  4. If you never stepped foot in the MDR, how do you know it was so loud?
  5. That's the problem... 'of what was available'. Typically, cabins still available at that point in the 'booking game' are not the most desirous, or they wouldn't still be available. I simply prefer to select our cabin at the beginning of booking process, rather than wait until an upsell comes up at the very end and offers whatever may be left over at that point.
  6. How was the location on the 'upgraded' cabin as compared to your original location? What I don't like about up sell offers is that they control the cabin assignment, by using language in the offer such as 'best available'. This is a red flag for me in that that new cabin location may not be in that great of a location, or it would have already been sold. It's important that I have control over cabin assignment.
  7. We do the same thing. For our upcoming sailing on NS, we received the first table out of the 4 we provided.
  8. I was puzzled by your puzzlement..😑
  9. Which is exactly what I'm saying.. that it's highly dependent on when you book. And the further out you book, the better luck (generally speaking) you'll likely have with your specific dining request. Not sure why that's so puzzling..
  10. I didn't read any 'discounting the experience of others' in her response, she simply agreed with a previous poster that there didn't appear to be any issues with the taxi service on her morning of disembarkation. Don't need first-hand experience to observe that. And yes, of course, disembarkation on a Wed is almost guaranteed to be less chaotic than a Sat.
  11. Not necessarily a fan of transfers, but have read on these boards that Uber/Lyft can be a better price than a taxi for PEV to FLL, offering similar or better service.
  12. That is a puzzler, especially since we have had the opposite experience when booking that far out. Maybe because the holiday sailings are more popular and therefore book much faster than others? We did have an experience a couple of years ago, where we booked a sailing ~1 year out, and our confirmation email indicated 'wait listed' for early fixed dining. This prompted a quick phone call to Ship Services, and the rep promptly assigned us confirmed early seating. Took less than two minutes on the phone. So even if you get an initial wait list assignment for your preferred time, don't stop there; call them and they should be able to work it out, especially that far out.
  13. Yeah, I think it is 90+% a result of the timing of when you book. Where you typically book relatively close to sail date and are most times wait listed, we typically book 9 mos or more out and have never been wait listed.
  14. Which supports my belief that that further out the booking is made, the better luck is had with dining request times.
  15. Appreciate the insight and your personal experience here. We're looking at best option to get from the cruise port to the airport at the end of our cruise next month. Sounds like it may make sense to get an Uber.
  16. Yep, I thought it had a lot to do with luck. Not accusing anyone of lying, I'm just really curious about their typical dining request, and how far out they typically book. So I can compare it to our process, since our request results seem to be much different than theirs. I do believe that the longer before sail date you book, the better chance you have of getting the fixed dining choice you prefer, without being wait listed. That has been our experience at least..
  17. Can I assume your same advice for the reverse trip, PEV to FLL?
  18. Nothing wrong with 'surface skimmers'. I was a Supply Officer on a couple of them in my day.. 🙂
  19. I somehow find this odd, or maybe it's just because we've been extremely lucky, and have batted 1000 with every fixed dining time request we've made (usually early). Have never been wait listed.. What is your preferred time, and how far out do you typically book?
  20. I understand they're called 'movie night snacks' for a reason, but do they also serve those items on non-movie nights?
  21. I'm thinking your sailing was at full capacity, or close to it. Did the ship seem or feel crowded to you? I've read on these boards that the Pinnacle Class ships sailing at full capacity can feel crowded to some people (for various reasons), as opposed to say ships in the Signature or Vista Class.
