  1. The smaller ships provide muck boots because their passengers land in Antartica. Princess passengers do not.
  2. In order to have landings in Antarctica, a cruise ship has to have no more than 500 passengers. There are several expedition lines that do so, but Princess does not. I went on a Hurtigruten Antarctica cruse on a ship that normally sailed with 640 passengers (double occupancy), but they limited capacity to 500 passengers for the Antarctica cruise. They had a very small single supplement, since they couldn't fill all of the cabins double occupancy anyway. I don't think Princess has any ships that they can economically sail with only 500 passengers.
  3. Going through security is pretty easy even without pre check. In a wheelchair, you will bypass most lines.
  4. If you cancel less than five days before sailing, it goes into your shipboard account as OBC - no matter how you paid. If you paid by credit card, the credit card payment is refundable OBC. If you paid by OBC, you didn't actually pay yet - they just reseved the OBC, so you still have the original OBC. It's different if you cancel more than five days before sailing. I cancelled some excursions paid for by a combination of credit card and OBC. They refund to OBC first. Remember they haven't actually charged your OBC yet - they've just reserved it. They refund to credit card only if the total cost of the remaining excursions is less than the total paid by credit card, and then they refund to credit card only the difference between the amount paid by credit card and the total cost of all of your booked excursions. Note also that any shipboard OBC refund goes on the account of the passenger for whom the excursion was booked. It doesn't matter who paid for the excursion.
  5. You may need to go through the Spa to access the pool on Deck 15. Even though most things in the Spa require payment, you don't need to pay to pass through to the pool.
  6. Cabin pictures won't show an outlet behind the nightstand beside the bed. That's what I always do for my CPAP also. Make sure that your European plug has two outlets - a European outlet to plug the lamp back in and a US outlet for the CPAP.
  7. This is not always accurate. It could show a lot of cabins available, but Princess could have sold a lot of guarantees that aren't assigned yet.
  8. I faxed mine because that used to be the only way to do it. I didn't hear for a couple of weeks. Then I emailed it and got the OBC the next day. I recommend you resubmit by email.
  9. We cancelled a cruise on 22 September 2022. We received a FCC for the cruise cancellation fees of $7,101.00. We did not receive any refund for the Princess Vacation Protection (PVP) cost of $662.76. The FCC had an Expires date of "Sail By 12/31/23". Note that it expired at the end of the calendar year the year after cancellation. Also note this is a "Sail By" date - not a "Book By" date. If your cancel before final payment and you have paid for PVP before you cancel (paid for - not just selected), then you may be able to receive FCC for the cancellation fee (which would be the nonrefundable deposit). However, PVP is normally fully refundable before final payment. But it is not refundable if you have made a claim. If you cancel before final payment, you would only want to use PVP to get FCC for a nonrefundable deposit if the nonrefundable deposit is greater than the cost of the PVP.
  10. Water is also available from the tap in your cabin. Ship's tap water is perfectly good for drinking.
  11. It is not appropriate to talk about your so-called sexual conquests in any public place, including a bar. I would like to hang out at a bar with DW without her having to hear about your sexual conquests. I also don't know what you mean about "taking up drinkers spaces". A kid buying a soda is every bit as much of a customer of that bar as someone buying a whiskey.
  12. It would also affect people with FCDs. If you cannot hold without a deposit, then you have to apply your FCD. Two problems with this: If you cancel the cruise, you have to wait for the FCD to be returned before you can use it again. If you use a Princess Vacation Planner (PVP), you have to either book or deposit the cruise with the PVP. If you book and deposit the cruise online, then the PVP does not receive credit for the booking and can't help you with it. My PVP told me to book online with a hold and then call her to deposit.
  13. You stated that booking the Alaska Railroad independently gives the best views and legroom. Are the views and legroom really better than the rail transfer I booked with the hotel from Princess?
  14. If you purchased and paid for Princess Vacation Protection (in order to establish the date for the pre-existing condition look back) and then you cancel before final payment, Princess will refund the premium in full, even if you have a non-refundable deposit. This is one advantage of Princess Vacation Protection over many third-party policies. The following policy on refunds is stated in the FAQ under the description of Princess Vacation Protection: Q: What if I want to cancel my PVP coverage? How does that work? A: PVP is refundable until final payment is due. For new bookings made within final payment, the PVP plan cost is only refundable within 10 days of purchase provided the person hasn't departed on the trip nor filed a claim.
  15. Children of any age can order a drink at any bar - as long as the drink is non-alcoholic. Where else do you think they would be able to order a drink other than at mealtime? Princess will sell the Zero-Alcohol Drink Package or the Classic Soda Package to people of any age. Both of these packages explicitly include mocktails. I believe a child has as much right to order a drink (non-alcoholic) at a bar as I do to order a drink there.
  16. They adjust the Reserve Dining tables each cruise based on the passengers booked. For example, I was on a family cruise on the Caribbean Princess with a party of eight. They had a table for eight set up in Club Class for us. I suspect that table disappeared from Club Class when we disembarked.
  17. How would the list look with the 25% Plus discount?
  18. I would love for them to replace the flowers with plastic. If they provide real flowers, we will probably ask them to remove them immediately. DW has pollen allergies and can't stay all night in a room with flowers.
  19. I have been able to change US currency for smaller denominations of US currency at Guest Services at no charge. Depending on availability, they may or may not do it.
  20. Good point. Do not rely on a bid. Check on refaring to a more expensive cabin paying the full current price difference - not a discounted bid price.
  21. FCC can be used for cruise fare increases. An upgrade to Plus or Premier is a fare increase - it is not an add-on package. Therefore FCC should be usable for the fare increase. Another option that may be worth trying: Ask Princess to apply the FCC to your upcoming transatlantic cruise, causing an overpayment. Then request they refund the overpayment to your credit card. They definitely will not refund more than you paid by credit card, but they might refund up to that amount. I don't know if this would work, but I think it is definitely worth trying.
  22. I haven't checked this promotion specifically, but many Princess promotions are capacity controlled. They will only sell a certain number under the promotion, and then it's no longer available.
  23. If you plan to purchase the $5,200 bottle of Petrus, then it definitely pays to plus. You would save $1,300 on each bottle.😀
