  1. You definitely have to deal through the travel agent. Even though you bid directly, Princess will not talk with you about charges if you have booked through a travel agent. I would definitely recommend against disputing the charge with your credit card company. If you dispute the charge and the charge is reversed, then Princess may cancel your cruise for nonpayment. I wouldn't take that risk for $48.
  2. Why no show? Why not call and cancel? I don't know of any advantage of no show over calling and cancelling. If she cancels, she will get port fees refunded. I don't know about no show. If she has Princess Vacation Protection, she will get FCC for cancellation fees.
  3. First go into Cruise Personalizer and verify that the excursions are cancelled. They do not send any notification of the refund. If they refund to your credit card, you will see it by logging into your credit card. They don't actually refund the OBC, since they don't actually charge the OBC until you're onboard. They just reserve that OBC to avoid charging a credit card. You can check on the Cruise Personalizer to see if the OBC is still reserved. "MANAGE THIS BOOKING" for any current cruise booking. Start a test booking of a new excursion. Select one or more excursions for all occupants of your cabin (select enough excursions to more than use all of your OBC), and click on "ADD TO CART". Click on "PAY NOW". Below the list of excursions in your cart, click on "PAY NOW". Look at EXCURSION RESERVATIONS SUMMARY. It will show Previously Made Reservations and Previous Payments Received. You can compare the Previous Payments Received with your credit card charges to see if there are any pending credit card refunds. It will also show Onboard credits applied. This will be your current remaining balance of OBC, so you can see if all of your remaining OBC is now available. Do not "Make a Payment". When you are finished reviewing the information, click "Remove" next to every one of your test excursions. SInce you did not "Make a Payment", nothing new has been charged.
  4. I would not expect a general Princess representative to be able to handle either of those questions. Shareholders credit response to email is generally very fast. If it's been a couple of weeks, I recommend resending the information. One potential issue: Is the person who requested the shareholder OBC a veteran who is already getting veteran OBC? If so, you cannot also get shareholder OBC. However if the other person in the cabin is not a veteran, that person can get shareholder OBC. Information on how to set up a meet & greet is in the thread How To Set Up a Meet & Greet on Board Princess Ships locked on the top of the Princess forum.
  5. You have a choice on Princess. You can select the lower Basic fare and some nickel and diming, or you can select the Plus or Premier fare for an all-inclusive experience.
  6. The specialty restaurant charge is a cover charge. If you make a reservation for two, then you pay for two. If you make a reservation for one, then they only seat one. There is no a la carte option. Everyone who eats there has to pay the cover charge. You may pay with a credit if you have one, or it can be charged to your folio. The casual restaurants are different, since you can order a la carte if you want.
  7. I'm tired of people saying I got the Plus package because I drink a lot of booze. I purchased the Plus package because I want milk with my cookies - and I eat a lot of cookies. 😀
  8. You lucked out. Just because you don't see minis under the Lido deck available doesn't mean you couldn't get one. Someone in one of those minis could have bid on a suite.
  9. One device per person is included in the Plus fare. However, 4 devices per person is included in the Premier fare.
  10. Is that any worse than bartenders being the drink police? If I order a drink with the Plus package and give half of it to someone else, that violates the rules. How is that different than ordering a pizza with the Plus package and giving half of it to someone else?
  11. If you don't have Internet, how can they call you? People can call me anytime I'm on a ship since I use Wi-Fi calling. I certainly don't want to pay for cellular service on a ship, and I normally don't pay for it in ports outside of the United States either.
  12. I like to have my phone available so people can contact me. If I'm traveling with non-US ports, then I don't have wi-fi cellular service in ports. I don't want to spend my time in port searching for a place with free wi-fi.
  13. They usually have bloody Marys and mimosas available in the MDR.
  14. In this case, it was not an error. @coo359a2 had both veteran and shareholder OBC grandfathered. With refare, can no longer have both. The system worked properly this time - for once.
  15. If your cabinmate is also a stockholder and is not a veteran, resubmit for the shareholder OBC for the cabinmate. My Carnival stock was in a IRA, so I was sole owner. I took it out of the IRA and transferred it to a joint account with my wife. Then I applied for shareholder OBC in her name. No problem.
  16. You just need to talk with the head waiter onboard - you don't need the maître d'. He will take your order each evening for the next day. You will need to place your order with a head waiter - not with a waiter. Although it is not required, I recommend going to the same MDR, so you can deal with the same head waiter. It doesn't matter if you have a different waiter, since the head waiter will handle your order. Just tell your waiter that you ordered the day before.
  17. As everyone else has said, Glacier Bay. It's not only for the scenery. Several National Park rangers come onboard while in the national park. One will be giving commentary from the bridge. One will be working directly with special activity for those in the kid's program. There's plenty of time to see the others, but definitely Glacier Bay for your first Alaska cruise.
  18. First, go to Cruise Personalizer. Select "Check-in" from the options at the top of the page. Select "Dietary Requests" under your name under "Guest Check-in Status". Fill in you email address and select the passenger with the restrictions. Click the box that says "Low salt/Low sodium". Click "SEND DIETARY RESTRICTION". Now that you've done what you're supposed to do, it probably won't really make any difference. The important thing is to speak with the head waiter (or whatever Princess is calling them today) in the MDR. They are trained to handle dietary restrictions - waiters are not. The head waiter will see you each day at dinner and take your order for then next day's dinner and for lunch if it's a sea day. With the one day notice, they can modify a lot of foods to be low sodium. The next day, tell the waiter that you have a special diet that was ordered the day before. It's easier, but not required, if you eat in the same MDR so that you can deal with the same head waiter.
  19. The Plus package starts when you board the ship and ends when you leave. Your 15-drink limit applies each day from 6 am to 6 am. On embarkation day, you can drink 15 from embarkation until 6 am the next morning. On disembarkation day, you can drink 15 from 6 am until you leave the ship. So you could actually get 8 days of 15 drinks each on a 7-night cruise. I know several people, including myself, who've reached the 15-drink limit on some days. However, I don't know of anyone who has ever reached the 15-drink limit on disembarkation day from 6 am until leaving the ship. You might want to try it and see what happens.😀
  20. If true, this is another reason to purchase several FCDs onboard. If you're going to lose a deposit, it's a lot better to lose only $100 per person.
  21. Not every day. On our previous cruise with eight, we would show up at different times and join the others already there.
  22. We all paid for Reserve Dining, and I expect to get what we paid for. In Reserve Dining, we do not need to make a reservation for a specific time in advance - we can show up anytime and get a table. That is what we're paying for. Princess can expand Reserve Dining as needed depending on the demand for that specific cruise. I don't know why it would take more staff to handle one party of ten than to handle five parties of two or ten solo cruisers, and a lot of smaller groups are noisier and more disruptive. BTW, I will also be checking on getting a table for ten in Sabatini's for breakfast.
  23. When I click on a link to a specific thread, I often get a screen that says "Let's confirm you are human" and asks me to click on "Begin>". When I hover my mouse of the link, I don't see any target address. I don't click on that link, since I never click on links that I'm not expecting. Clicking on unexpected links is an easy way to compromise my computer. Is this page a legitimate Cruise Critic page? If so, why do you ask me to solve a security puzzle before taking my to the thread I requested? I look at most of the new threads in the Princess forum, and I get this message a lot. I don't want to solve a dozen security puzzles just to read a dozen threads. I generally just ignore it, log off, and go back to Cruise Critic later.
  24. We had a reserved table in Club Class on a British Isles cruise on the Caribbean Princess. On that cruise, we had four couples dining in Club Class, and they set up one table for eight. Since we were the only party of eight in Club Class, that table was always available for us - no one else used it for lunch or dinner. I don't know about breakfast, because we didn't eat breakfast in Club Class on that cruise. I suspect they would do the same for any other large party in Reserve Dining. We have five couples reserved in Reserve Dining for an Alaska cruise on the Grand Princess next year; I hope they will do the same. I suspect they will move tables to put a table for ten in Reserve Dining for that specific cruise.
