  1. Worked in Service Industry, you'd be surprised how many places combine or have to share Tips. My Sister a Waitress had share with another Server, Cook and Dishwasher. Managed a Bar/Rest, the Waitresses had to share theirs with the Bartender. Then I have a big family, many Restaurants require a min Charge for larger parties of more then 9, 10, 12. I started on Royal Room Attendant and Waiter each got $1.25 pppd, Asst Waiter got .50 pppd but had double the tables as he'd work with 2 Waiters. If they worked in WJ was a train up job or punishment from Main Dining for not maintaining high Ratings.
  2. Nothing new, I remember pre-Cv paying $700 more for a Balcony Cabin my choice, as the discount for Balcony Guarantee Cabin was that much less. Price in Cruises and 90% of everything else is up yes but we were spoiled with downturn of 2020-2023 prices. Irony is high as 2025, prices are still cheaper then what I paid in 1980-90s. Hard to find but some ok deals are still out there
  3. Yup, that was us getting rescued. Had to ride in back or Police Pickup and walk through water covering the Bridge on main road. This after our Van was hit by one of those landslides. We were supposed be back by 330, 1020 we made it, Soaked, mud in our shoes
  4. Years ago doing a Boston to Florida Repo not only was waves high but wind pushing rain hard sideways. Ended up opening seal to my closed/locked Aft Deck 9 Cabin to leak. Carpet was wet from door to under Bed requiring large Blower in my Cabin for 3+ days. They gave me another Balcony Cabin to use during Cruise, so had both, but best thing was the FCC was high enough to cover about 70% of my next years 13nite Repo
  5. Agree, don't like being on a Ship unless can feel the motion of the Ocean. Been on few these Hurricanes/Tropical Storms when use to only Cruise in Sept in 80-90's, most were on smaller Vision Class though did one on Voyager one that was really Wild 25yrs ago. They were smart enough to tie up all chairs before we hit the worst of it though more then once they didn't drain Pools having water going out both ends as we rocked back/forth
  6. And nothing new, Royal had first "Mega-Cruise Ship" back in 1988, also the largest Cruise Ship in World at time. I remember on one her first Sailings #004 looking down on Tiny 500-700 passenger Carnival, NCL and Princess "Love Boat" sized Ships. That said my Kids love the Oasis and Quantum sized(and now Icon) while I'll stick with the Radiance sized Ships at last til they're retired
  7. Old formula of 1 point per Cruise, those were converted to more then one point and will show in your Current actual Total
  8. Yes, in past used only later in a Cruise to make up low Liquor Sales to help meet that Sailings quota. Many times was with only 2-3 days left
  9. The 3 Ships I been on same in last yr, all had Teens together. t many older 16-17 really hang out in their area anyway
  10. Yes, these "Coolers" on older Ships were only meant to keep things like Chocolate from melting. Starting on Voyager Class these were stocked with Candy, Chips, Water and Soda Pop to purchase-charged to your room.
  11. Common offer from Royal. Though depending on current Rates and what was Booked at can be still exceptable. Royal shortened at least 7 my Cruises(that I remember) by 1-3 days keeping rate same, most were really good Rates so even with less days was ok by me. But 3 of them were part of B5B, they kept same Class Ship but changed my Cabin numbers, they didnt assign same ones so instead had 3 room changes in 4 weeks. So I canceled.
  12. Smart Elevator Tech has been around for years, 15+ that I know of. Though doesn't effect me, except for couple times last Fall traveling with my Grand Daughter I haven't been on Ship Elevator in 23+ yrs
  13. Good to hear. Though future prices still up to almost what they were peak of 30-35yrs ago at least some reductions have been coming later similar to pre-CV when Booking a Cruise day of release likely many would have price reductions later
  14. Yes rare now but just got 3 price Drops on Feb/Mar 2025 and waited 2 weeks to Book an April 2024 Cruise and price dropped by 50%... Oh and I do longer Cruises on older Ships usually only 10-25 Kids a Sailing
  15. Though Container Beats those steep Ship Stairs used at some Ports. Used then last Fall and dont know how some passengers get up those... But this is Funny!
  16. Have had 4 different Samsung Galaxy's, one I kept for 5+ yrs only getting new one after Battery wouldn't hold charge for long. I'm currently on a 3+ yr old model. Never done me wrong and always took great pics, day and nite
  17. During Startup 2021-2022 many Cruises I scored many of those no Single Supplement. SOLO like me Cabins were Cheap. PreCV Royal was running 108% Capacity, now 120%, High Demand on Royal and Higher prices not going see Great Deals though I been able get some Good Deals last month on older Ships. Have to look and watch, not many but got Booked 2 at less then 90days out and 4 in 2024.
  18. Never going to pay for something should have brought from home. Have always brought 2 suitcases and my Backpack...and I have no hair!
  19. Ok, not bad as thought there now, It's 3:06am here in AZ, haven't been to bed and up at 6:05am get my Grand Daughter up & off to School. Days like this its do I just stay up?
  20. Wow either you are up early of I'm up really late! ...or both. But yeah been while but many times over the years we'd get somewhere early and either putt around outside a Port or come to dead stop. Last one I remember we were just sitting there stopped, was on Deck 2 and whole ship was rocking side to side without any side/side tipping. Weird feeling and probably reason woke me at 3am sitting 5miles out of MIA
  21. When I started on Royal the Main Dining was open for all 3 Meals inc Lunch on Sea and Port Days.
  22. Me, Solo C&A Discount is a lot Cheaper though remember Port Tax alone is $429each
  23. Yes, about Decade ago it was used Special meals inc Singles Luncheons
  24. Nice area for this, beats the usually smaller card/game room by Main Dining. In past know Adventure Ocean would take Kids in there to eat for Lunch & Dinner this just 4 months ago Along with Crew, Entertainment and Shop workers were also eating their Dinners in there
