  1. No, you’ll be surprised at how intimate these ships are. Generally, we’ve never felt crowded on Oasis Class Ships. Have a great time!
  2. Interesting thread. My understanding was that family in same cabin were treated as the family member of highest tier. The most obvious benefit being the balcony fare discount. However, family do not get all benefits. Our son didn’t get extra drink vouchers until he himself hit diamond.
  3. Be firm, insist to speak to the hotel director and insist they move you. Forget the concierge, go through hotel director. If they don’t want you to speak with them, then they should just move you.
  4. I agree with a lot of what you say. For the most part, not much of any difference between food in MDR and Windjammer. Years ago, there was an obvious difference. Years ago too, people dressed up for the MDR, now people dress pretty much the same way in both. We still go to MDR and specialty for the experience of dining. DW likes the experience.
  5. You identify the only thing I really like about the older and smaller ships, they can have better itineraries. It’s really a balancing between the two. I like the bigger newer ships as destinations unto themselves and can’t wait to go on IOTS. Great and privileged to have great options.
  6. As others have pointed out, what is the big deal. No one has wronged you, you were not deceived by a sales person. You buy something above your limit, you pay the tax, that’s it.
  7. And, how easy is it to constantly blame others for the woes in one’s life. Could the contractor who operates the stores on ship do a better job? Yes. RCL lists the info online. Anyone who travels a little knows you have limits on what can be brought in duty free. At the end of the day, the buyer is responsible.
  8. Well, they seem to be getting most things right. Most innovative cruise line, we can’t wait for next January.
  9. Wow, thems would be fighting words, but on reflection, if more feel like you, she’ll be easy to book! Can’t wait. Will be even more excited if they have Hamilton as the show! 🙂
  10. Did anyone not look at FAQs on Royal’s website? https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/are-the-onboard-shops-duty-free
  11. If you’ve never travelled in your life, I can understand the confusion. For anyone else - seriously! Purchase limits are well communicated by the government. Don’t blame the cruise line. Yes, it would be great if they explain process. And, they probably should. But, didn’t anyone think to ask in the shop how it would be handled coming home? Same goes for OP who is at least diamond.
  12. We’re on the Explorer of Seas May 21, 2023 leaving from Ravenna. We didn’t realize Ravenna was such a distance from Venice. What are the best ways to get to Ravenna from Venice either on a Saturday or on a Sunday morning.
  13. Best wishes for your trip and hope you get to Venice soon. I came online to do research this morning for a trip we have out of Ravenna next May. I had no idea it was 2-3 hours from Venice! We’ll have to make some changes so we don’t miss the ship! LOL, my DW will be surprised.
  14. @RockHoundTXthank you, great explanation, something that I’ll have to try!
  15. Wouldn’t doubt it. It’s my least favourite airport. Always carry bag with computer and camera equipment with me.
  16. Ouch! Touchy, touchy. And, I thought I was funny!
  17. The whole reason we book flights through cruise lines and is that if something goes sideways, their flight group is available to fix it. Only had one issue and that was on Celebrity when my luggage didn’t make the ship on a cruise out of Rome. I had a rolley with a few things with me. Took four days to get rest of luggage in Istanbul, the concierge comp’ed me whatever I needed from shops on board. It was an experience but they tried to make it right.
  18. “Screen name fits”, “depending on your tone” that’s one rude reply. I think the poster was only looking for friendly feedback.
  19. We’ve seen them on all ships we’ve been on this year (Allure 2x, Voyager and Oasis).
  20. Sounds really interesting, but a few Q’s from curiosity. What strength magnet does he use. What’s the test of the line? Does he “lose” a lot of magnets? I mean if you contact rebar in the water, you most probably lose your magnet. Just curious. Sounds fun.
