  1. I would agree with you, if it was the MDR a few years ago. I just find the quality of food has gone down significantly since restart. I wonder how many top chefs they lost. It’s not the same.
  2. My DW has nut allergies. We always tell them each booking and contact the MDR staff as soon as we’re on ship. They are great, they make sure her food is safe. Best wishes.
  3. I really don’t pay much attention to anything but the Chops Steak and fixings! Mmmmm!
  4. Truth is, you get to a point where the wonder of the cruise experience wanes. However, depending on outlook, wonder may wane but not enjoyment. DW and I cruise about 3x a year - a good amount but not as much as many. We love being on ship, watching the ocean (nothing beats the indigo colour of the ocean), dressing up for dinner, going on our own in port, eating local dishes, spending time on the beach and watching shows we like. Many of the things you mention, we don’t do but have other things we enjoy. We’ve been on Allure now a few times to see Mamma Mia (never gets boring). And, we do like the 70’s Night (part of the fun is you know everything that’s going to happen). Hopefully, we don’t get bored (we have quite a few cruises booked).
  5. I thought it’d be nice to acknowledge some of the great people who make our cruises memorable experiences. So, do you have a favourite waiter. If so, who are they and why are they your favourite. For me and my family, ours is a man who goes by “G”. Whose name is Gopakumar Viswanathan. We first had “G” on our first Royal Caribbean cruise for Xmas and New Years on the Explorer of the Seas in 2009. We had cruised with Princess prior to this and had had good experiences. “G” , however, set the bar so ridiculously high that we have measured everyone against him. Why was he so good? Superior congeniality, superior customer service, and an inhuman ability to anticipate everything you’d like. This first cruise was with my DW and DS. We subsequently went back on EOS two more times with extended family and made a point of requesting “G.” He was so good and gave a level of service as good as you’d get at Ritz-Carlton. He was the reason why we kept coming back to Royal over other lines. Over the years, we’ve had many great waiters but none have completely measured up to “G.”
  6. I’m glad you realize it wasn’t the best action. It could have become a very ugly situation. It also shows how tolerant the wait staff have to be and what they have to put up with day in day out. Would like to know where they draw the line on behaviour.
  7. Now that we’ve cruised a few times, I’ve been in both situations. Sometimes we travel with lots of family and end up consuming a lot of the servers time. I sympathize with you, but you need to get the head waiter and make sure your cruising experience is what you want.
  8. We were on Allure on Aug 14th and the French Toast in the MDR was thick as usual. However, it didn’t come with whipped cream but with something like Cool Whip and no Maple Syrup but something like Karo. I didn’t enjoy.
  9. We were in Allure for the August 14th sailing. The positional map was not on TV. I asked and they said there were technical difficulties they were trying to resolve. They were not available throughout the cruise. Are they working on other cruises? Would be a shame if they do away with these.
  10. We were on Oasis in May, Voyager in July and Allure the week before last. There was no Captain’s Corner on any of them. Guest services said they were stopped during the pandemic. The pandemic is largely over, anyone hear when Captain’s Corner is resuming?
  11. Thanks, you pointed out all the things wrong with the show. I watched a couple, then it’s just the same thing again and again.
  12. Should be no problem but really depends on who is processing drinks. Why not use your DH’s during day when he’s about and yours at night.
  13. Really, I like the Music Hall on Anthem. Always thought it had a good feel.
  14. Have to agree with Cafe Promenade, could use upgrading. Years ago, it had much better fare. I think Royal needs to upgrade on food a lot.
  15. We’ll, reality is the Compass is going. Think about a few years ago with all the magazines and newspapers that used to be in ship. All gone. Not saying part of he doesn’t miss them, but I don’t see them coming back. The amount of printing the cruise line says on is staggering.
  16. New system is great, use your vouchers when and where you want.
  17. Explorer 1-First ship we were on with Royal 2-First ship we enjoyed the Royal promenade 3-First ship we cruised out of NYC area (Bayonne) 4-The grandeur of the MDR 5-Great Gym with comp change rooms, sauna and steam (though sadly I hear Amping will ruin that) Allure: 1-Best show at sea: Mamma Mia 2-Royal Promenade, Central Park, Boardwalk 3-Best replica car in Royal Promenade 4-Best track at Sea on Deck 5 5-Best gym at Sea on Deck 6 Anthem: 1-270! Best venue at sea. I can sit there during the day reading a book with a chair looking out at the ocean and sipping a latte. 2-North Star: how cool is it to see the ship, sea and sometimes port from that high up 3-Silk, Grande, Chic, American Icon (when they first launched) with unique menus in each 4-Music Hall: great venue 5-Bumper Cars
  18. Wow, great question. Also, if anyone knows who makes the wooden chairs that are on deck five on back of most Oasis class ships, I could fancy those.
  19. We were on Quantum when it was moving from Bayonne to Singapore. We did the leg to Barcelona. There were 5 or 6 sea days. Originally, DW, family and I wondered what we’d do. However, these days went so fast and there was a lot to do. We really got to experience the ship. The Wonder and is new, I think you’ll have a great time. Enjoy!
  20. How about bionic sandwich bar? I’d order a Reuben.
