  1. Pappy1022, Your excursion tour tickets and other information is in your suite when u board. There is a complete booklet of all the tours that are offered on your cruise. In this packet is a precise description of each excursion… with exactly how much time traveling from place to place. This information should be included in the description of the shore excursions online when you are deciding what to do.
  2. I agree with welshfamily. Provide information on distances travel time involved. I’ve actually called Regent to get this information only to be told we don’t have it. They do as they do almost the same excursions on their itineraries. Its vital to me when I’m selecting shore excursions as I’m not interested in sitting on a bus for 2-3 hours to see something. The Destination Department has not been very helpful regarding this information.
  3. I’ve found the staff working in the Destination Department to be clueless . They have no idea on what these excursions really involve… they read the same literature that I do. They are there to just process paperwork. Ive even called Regent directly and basically it’s the same. They just book your excursion or change them for you. No reason for any crew to be rude or indifferent.
  4. I saw a man at a Sunday brunch in CR wearing flannel pajama bottoms! He was not asked to leave! I once saw 2 passengers in Chartreuse dressed in sweatpants and hoodies. when I complained to the manager he just shrugged.
  5. We were on an excursion having to board and unload the bus several times during the excursion. There was a man with a walker on this excursion. He fell outside the bus. I rushed over to help the driver get him up. To be honest he had no business on this excursion. Not surprised he fell as the ground was very rocky and uneven. Luckily he wasn’t hurt. I’ve seen too many passengers struggle to get on and offer the tenders. Talk about scary.
  6. I’ve seen very few passengers planning their own shore excursions while on a Regent cruise. Doing this is not easy. The biggest issue is finding a tour that coincides with the time you are in a certain port. Another issue is getting back to the ship before it leaves… it’s not Regents responsibility. Another cost added to your cruise. Another issue is that in many instances the ship is docked distances from the main areas of where tours go. We have 3 future cruises booked but I expect to see the same issues with the shore excursions. Some excellent, some ok and some bad.
  7. Portolan: Thanks for your excellent update!!! Regent should know what’s going on regarding Covid testing and inform passengers with the correct information. Were there any passengers who tested positive when doing the test at the hotel provided by Regent and denied boarding? Someone in management at Regent needs to know that tests were not required at boarding!
  8. We been cruising with Regent since 2001 and have well over 200 nights and have been on all the ships multiple times. We have seen a decline in the food and the complimentary wines. Service is still great! Decline in the entertainment.
  9. We have done 4 Regent cruises since September 2021. Post Covid. The excursions are hit and miss. Some have too many passengers on the buses. Some require lengthy bus rides. Some guides are not great. Too many mobility impaired passengers doing excursions they shouldn’t be doing. Too much time to board and off load the buses while on excursions.
  10. Portolan: I assume all the passengers not staying at the Hilton Hotel will be showing their self tests at embarking the cruise. Please keep updates!
  11. We would really like to know what we are supposed to do if we test Positive and can’t board the ship?
  12. Portolan, For those passengers who may have tested Positive what were they now expected to do? Stay at the Hilton hotel? Fly back home? Was Regent transferring them elsewhere? We are Not staying at the Hilton and not doing the pre cruise tour. Doing everything on our on while in Tokyo before the cruise embarks on April 25. I agree with what Sabreline wrote. Don’t blame them for not going if Japan keeps this policy in place. If Japan wants tourists they need to change things. ASAP!!!
  13. We found all the restaurants to be inconsistent. We try to avoid Compass Rose as we don’t like the venue. Ugly decor and the lighting is too bright. Not a warm and inviting place to eat. The other restaurants are so beautiful… what happened to CR? It’s like eating in a cafeteria. The size is too big… they should consider closing off the section near the kitchen. All our friends feel the same about CR. At least they could dim the lights!
  14. I’ve been told by Jennifer Teegen at Regent that passengers will be required to show a negative Covid test within 72 hours of boarding. You are allowed to use a home test kit. Information regarding everything will be sent 30 days before your cruise. This policy is from the Japan government.
  15. Your review of the Splendor was really good. I’ve been on that ship 4 times. We were just onboard Feb from Miami to Miami. Food was inconsistent except in Pacific Rim. Service was inconsistent. Worst meals in Chartreuse along with bad service as we ate there twice. Music in all lounges way too loud! You could not have a conversation without yelling! Very annoying. The sheer drapes in our suite were dirty and need replacing. Dirt stains on the bottom of the drapes. Overall things are good but the food was a major issue for us along with the awful complimentary red wines. Couldn’t drink them. I stuck with Vodka!
  16. Someone posted on the Regent Facebook page that they had called Regent yesterday. They were told no testing for the May 25 cruise. My TA called and was not told that. What’s going on?
  17. I agree with everything Pingpong wrote. We went thru having to present a Negative Covid test twice before boarding two prior cruises. We would have not made final payment on this Japan cruise if we knew this would be a requirement for this Tokyo to Vancouver cruise. This cruise is sold out. A 3 day pre cruise stay in Tokyo. More than likely there will be passengers unable to board and thus stuck in Tokyo. Horrible situation to be in.
  18. Sanne…. After u had to be tested 3 days after boarding how many people tested positive and were required to be quarantined??? Just curious.
  19. I have a friend who took a Tauck River cruise in Portugal last June. Had to show a negative test to board. Her test was negative but the first night onboard she showed symptoms. Tested herself and was positive. Didn’t report it as she was not about to be quarantined. So showing a negative test within 72 hours doesn’t mean much.
  20. The cruise lines need to put pressure on the Japanese government to rethink this policy.
  21. When u take a picture with your I phone the date and time is automatically there. Go to your camera roll and look at your photos. They all have a date and time on the top of the photo.
  22. The entire mandate is ridiculous. If Japan wants cruises to dock they need to rethink this. It only aggravates people and doesn’t do anything to curb Covid on a cruise ship.
  23. So I take a test 72 hours before boarding. I test negative. Then I’m touring Tokyo and get infected after I’ve tested Negative. Doesn’t make sense!
  24. We have not received any updates from Regent about Covid testing. Our cruise is April 25.
