  1. My choice would be 8 or 9. You get very nice views from these decks but don't have the noise from decks below or above you for the most part. 7 is just a bit too low for me.
  2. There are no cover charges for main dining rooms on any Celebrity ships. I'll be sailing Beyond on Nov. 27 and I'll ask about this.
  3. Not necessarily. There are often issues that Corporate needs to know about and isn't something that can be resolved on the ship. Sending an email is fine but they probably get lots of emails every day so I wouldn't necessarily expect a response, at least not quickly.
  4. Donna ~ please follow this link to your Roll Call to post your question and begin talking with others on your cruise. Click on the title below to access the Roll Call:
  5. I highly recommend reading protocols on Celebrity's website as they can and do change: https://www.celebritycruises.com/healthy-at-sea/faqs
  6. PinkSandGirl ~ thanks so very much for your detailed reports and photos....all are great (and I appreciate honesty). We'll be sailing on Beyond soon so it's great to read your thoughts and see all those great photos. Please don't apologize when you can't find time to post....you are supposed to be having a GREAT time. But do know we appreciate your reports.....we are very anxious to board. Have a wonderful rest of your cruise! Keep on enjoying!!!
  7. Another gulf coast resident here. If you stay north of Sarasota and avoid the east coast and central Florida locations that have been flooded you should come. Do a little more research closer to your trip to see if any locations currently dealing with flood waters are in better shape. But I think from Sarasota to the Florida panhandle would be fine to visit and there are lots of great places in these areas. Good luck!
  8. No email from Celebrity and we sail out of Rome on October 7. I've been asking this question for weeks. I'm not happy! Everyone sailing with me just waisted a lot o money ordering the Abbott tests to take to Europe. It's really unacceptable. SIGH....sorry for the vent....this one really annoyed me.
  9. By the way, anytime our veranda got soot in the SV, we'd ask our cabin attendant if they could clean it and it always was. We don't spend hours in our cabin so this was a minor item for us. I much prefer the real balcony than the IVs. I should have mentioned asking for the veranda to be cleaned in my previous post. I do think the soot is more accentuated the higher you go.
  10. I have a thread started about this subject here: I will post information when I learn about when Celebrity will begin hosting them again.
  11. I personally would keep the SV on deck 11 (my opinion only). I've had cabins on this deck on Edge in the Med and LOVED it. Deck 7 is above the Eden lounge. You could hear music or noise from here in the evening (can't be sure about that as I don't stay that low). But I'd definitely keep an SV over an IV. I don't care for the IVs at all. It's not a veranda ... it's more like a bus window (although larger) that opens. It's noisy and the short area where two chairs sit do not give you the veranda feel and you can't close the French doors into the cabin unless you turn the furniture sideways. I'd guess it's the same on Beyond. Also, I don't mind the walk to the rear of the ship. Keeps me in shape 🙂 Good luck with whatever you decide.
  12. 😪 I am so sorry to read this....keep watching....they do bring promotions back.
  13. As Nutsaboutgolf said above, pricing and promotions can and do change at any time. It's the same as airfares. They fluctuate all the time. Celebrity dropped the single supplement (I noticed when a friend didn't have to pay for the single supplement last month). But know Celebrity could change that promotion at any point in time. Having a reliable travel agent that will watch for these types of promotions is very valuable.
  14. If you are not on Summit right now or have sailed on Summit in the past month or so, please refrain from responding to this thread. The OP is looking for current/recent experiences.
  15. This is not always the case. Celebrity has been offering a solo pricing recently with no single supplement, making the pricing for a single much more reasonable. It's unusual but it does happen.
  16. I have been on Edge and Apex and will be on Beyond in November. I believe the only time a Sky Suite balcony would be blocked would be when the Magic Carpet is going from it primary location adjacent to the pool deck (Deck 14) down to serve as a disembarkation deck (Deck 5). The Magic Carpet does not go up and down while the ship is moving. In fact, I've never seen it lowered on the three Edge class ships I've been on. I do not believe that any of the Sky Suites would be blocked by the Magic Carpet although cabins on Deck 12 starboard side of the ship may be in the shadow of the Magic Carpet when it's overhead. Here's a good photo showing the Magic Carpet on Deck 14 (pool deck).
  17. Just got off Star Pride yesterday. We purchased the ALL IN pre-cruise and it included wifi for one device for both of us. However, it was pretty slow most of the cruise in Iceland. Internet service may be better in the Caribbean but for the last three days it was almost unusable.....just difficult to connect.
  18. Hi everyone ~ I'm on my last leg flight home from Reykjavik. I had hoped to post from the cruise on Star Pride but the internet would not cooperate. I will be posting a review (hopefully by this weekend). We had a fantastic cruise and we loved Iceland. To answer the question posted in this thread, I'd say the food was definitely quite a bit better than the mainstream lines (Celebrity, Princess, Roya, etc.). This was our first cruise on Windstar and with the exception of one or two dishes throughout the cruise. the food was excellent. The Star Grill was not open on our cruise (a bit rainy at the start of the cruise) and chilly most of the time. But I thought the burger for lunch in the Veranda was one of the better ones I've had on a ship. This was a totally different experience from most of our cruises but one we will always remember....between the fantastic crew, new friends we've made, the places we visited (we had terrific tours - all independently arranged), and the Icelandic people, we loved every minute of it. More to come!
  19. It's not up to Cruise Critic. It is up to the cruise line. If I hear of anything I will post it here but thus far, I don't have any additional information.
  20. Thanks to everyone who has responded to this thread. We are on our way at the moment to board the WIndstar Pride in Reykjavik. We haven't sailed Windstar before and we've never been to Iceland but we like small ship cruising a great deal. Truly looking forward to the food thanks to all of you. I'm going to try and post a Live From thread as I didn't see many here on the Windstar boards. THANKS again!
  21. Sadly, yes they have discontinued them. Write if you want them back! Every promotion comes and goes now and then. Let Celebrity know if you want them back as an option.
  22. I've only used FBC once about four years ago. After my flight was booked, I worked directly with Delta after that. Things may have changed since then but I had complete control of my Delta flights once they were booked. Have you tried calling Delta direct? Hold times can be long right now unless you call early in the morning (or late at night but I much prefer the folks working the phone lines early in the morning). Good luck....we have had lots of flights changed in the past four months. It's a sad reality. I often check my flights multiple times each week as we have both business and personal flights to follow.
  23. I suggest you add this to your roll call. You will get far more participation there than in this thread. ENJOY!
  24. We often travel with our daughter (dairy allergy) and our son-in-law (gluten free) and dined in Luminae on Summit last year. They were offered all the menus every night (yes, the need to order the evening before). The crew went out of their way to make wonderful items for them. And when we dined in Tuscan, the chef actually went out of his way to make our son-in-law gluten free gnocchi! We went back a second time because it was a special treat. But believe it or not, I think the best dining experience for them has been in Normandie on Edge. Because it's best for them to typically have the same wait staff, we mostly ate in Normandie. The chef on that cruise (in 2018) went way over and above for them. Typically, dessert had been sorbet on previous cruises but on this cruise, they had amazing desserts every evening. They had wonderful sauces with entrees. It was noticeable that the kitchen staff cared. We were so well taken care of that I actually asked the chef to visit our table the last evening so we could give him and his staff an extra tip. My recommendation, ask to see the head waiter when you board and review your needs. Remind your wait staff (I find it much better to try and stick to the same wait staff that understands your needs) that you are gluten free and know that the specialty restaurants typically hand food allergies very well, especially if you visit with them prior to your dining evening.
  25. Here's a link to the information on Celebrity's website. https://www.celebritycruises.com/health-and-safety Keep a watchful eye as these protocols are changing frequently.
