  1. Thank you. I got tired of looking at "Upcoming cruises--November 2023" and had to do something. @seagarsmoker, do I remember that you were thinking this would be a remote work situation? Perhaps with Starlink that could leave you a bit more flexibility for cruising. Roy
  2. While no cruise ship could leave Dubai on April 7 and arrive Southampton on April 28 I think it's within the realm of possibilities for QM2. According to sea-distances.org, the journey via Cape Horn is 10,768 Nautical Miles and 15 days, hours at 28 knots, I think within the capabilities of this magnificent ship. They could even buy a couple more days if they could cut the stay in Dubai by a day and be a day late in Southampton and do a 6-day crossing to New York. They would need at least one stop for refueling and resupply, hopefully also giving passengers time to stretch their legs on land. It would be a very different cruise than what was originally planned but with the variety of things offered on board I would actually love to be aboard for that if it did not require flying. Roy
  3. Another sunrise from Queen Victoria on that Transatlantic before Crystal Symphony Buenos Aires to Antarctic to Miami. January 19 was the last sea day before our first US stop in Port Canaveral. Roy

  5. Back from Wegamans about noon. The roads in my immediate neighborhood were awful but the rest of the trip not too bad and improving. Wegmans was running pretty normally *they also have a covered garage) and I got everything I wanted except for grapes. Roy
  6. @aliaschief is there any scuttlebut yet about the possibility of the Red Sea situation affecting your cruise> Roy
  7. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. Happy Friday. I think I have a fairly decent memory, coffee is my potion, and I enjoy popcorn. I love the Cooper quote. I have not been to Kangaroo Island but it sounds interesting. A glorious day for Industry. Overhead lighting was a great step but underground has become more reliable. A sad day in cycling history. Sad news for @ger_77and DH. Fingers still crossed for @seagarsmoker. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Orange and Avacado Carousel, Pene Primavera, and Mango-Blueberry Crisp as served on MS Prinsendam January 19, 2019. More snow than expect but I think I'm ok for a midday run to Wegmans. Roy
  8. It's been a bit of a strange afternoon. My appointment was at 1 and as I left the house about 12:15 a couple of utility trucks had pulled up in the neighborhood. The treatment went as expected and I next see this doctor February 22. (I see my regular Oncologist Monday and my primary Tuesday). When I got home about 2:30 I had to park on the opposite side of the street as utilities were investigating a water main break and the main involved is on my side of the street. Somehow they even got a car moved that hasn't gone anywhere in weeks. A bit later they came around and told my m=they would be shutting off the water soon for 4-6 hours but I can live with that. They are now digging directly in front of my house. Roy
  9. Today's sunrise is from my one and only 2020 trip. On January 18 I arrived in Los Angeles on Amtrak's Southwest Chief before boarding Crystal Serenity for a World Cruise segment to Sydney. Roy

  11. Happy Friday Eve. Best wishes @seagarsmoker, Condolences to @Quartzsite Cruiser. Healing wishes for @catmando.. Welcome home @kochleffel. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. I wonder if maintenance day includes medical as I maintain control of my cancer with my final treatment this afternoon. I don't have customers but for those who do knowing them is important. I'm not into gourmet coffee but prefer McDonalds. I like the quote. I have been to Newport many times, most recently in October on Crystal Serenity. Those convicts went off to a miserable life and I think many of them were really political prisoners. The meal sounds like a nice side dish. My alternative is Citrus Delight, Apple Cider Brined Pork Chop with Cherry-Raisin Chutney and Cherry Crisp as served on MS Prinsendam January 18, 2019: Not quite as cold as yesterday but still too cold to linger outdoors. Roy
  12. I've thought of that but decided I'm not home reliably enough to avoid a huge number of welfare checks. Roy
  13. Today's sunrise is from yet another trip, this one from Baltimore. I was on the Grandeur of the Seas January 14-23 of 2017. On January 17 we were in Port Canaveral, Roy

  15. Congratulations. It sounds like you're on the right track. Roy
  16. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. Welcome back @grapau27, Today we honor 2 great Americans and 2 great Explorers. When I think of Cable Car I think of San Francisco. Katherine Hepburn sounds pretty pessimistic to me. I visited Rosyth twice, 2006 on Crystal Symphony and in 2011 I disembarked Prinsendam prematurely there to catch trains to Southampton to be in time to return home on Queen Mary 2. The meal sounds interesting but not a must have. My alternative is Apple Orange and Cucumber Salad, Surf and Turf, and Almond and Orange Cake as served on MS Prinsendam January 17, 2019. . It was a Black and White Gala night and the penguins were appropriately decked out, It's the coldest night of the year so far and I won't be outside much. Roy
  17. Rotterdam is using the new locks because it is too big to fit through the original ones. Ships that can go through the original locks always do. The new locks are a different experience I am glad to have done but the original locks are a lot more interesting. Roy
  18. I am guessing he may be on a cruise as he doesn't advertise his travel plans. Here's Father David's message from last week:
