  1. Welcome to the HAL forum and the Fleet Report and Daily. I would say West of the International Dateline and East of Greenwich, UK/ Roy
  2. I can identify with that at least when it comes to socks. I normally use packing cubes and know I included a cube of socks for the Eurodam in 2022. I had packed socks for the trip to Florida and for the trip back home, but apparently my cube of socks fell off the edge of the bed while I did my final closing of the bag. I discovered it when I got on the ship and had no socks except the ones I was wearing. I almost went without socks for a day but wore the same socks for about 4 days until our first port of Aruba. Sadly, that was a Sunday and the good stores were all closed. My last stop was a souvenir shop called something like "Made in Aruba", Fortunately, they had socks made in Aruba but they were smaller and tighter than the ones I would normally wear. From then on I had socks going out to the laundry just about every day wearing the socks I had brought on board as soon as they came back. The HAL shops were no better than Oceania's/ Thinking of you as you will either trust Jim to stay on the ship or lead him around. Roy
  3. There are a few days when I have not been on a ship and even more when I have not been on a BHB. The alternate menu will go on hiatus sometime this summer for a period. February 29 will be a special case. I have never been on a BHB on February 29, I did come relatively close with the Zaandam in 2012 and one additional cruise would have made it happen. I was on Crystal in 2016 and 2020 and while I do not normally list non-HAL alternates I will make an exception for leap year. Roy
  4. I have a sunset today rather than a sunrise. It's from my 2015 Maasdam cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Rio. On February 1 we visited Port-of-Spain.. Roy

  6. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa. Ann, Paul, and Eva. Happy Hevenly Birtheay to @smitty34877's DD DH. I won't make candy, appreciate my car insurance, and changing passwords seems to be a neverending task. Strange quote from Peters but far too many people have been charged with plagerism by following that advice. Three great days in history from the 19th century and a very sad one from the 20th.I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Classic Caesar Salad, Sauteed Pork Chop, and Key Lime Pie with Mango Sauce as served on MS Prinsendam February 1, 2019: Cold morning but it should warm up during the day. Roy
  7. Rabbit 🐇 Rabbit 🐇 White Rabbit 🐰 Today's maps: Roy
  8. Crystal usually uses Terminal J but sometimes there are other small ships the same day. I've sailed to or from there many times. Roy
  9. My second alternative maps: I will be a bit autocratic about this but also welcome opinions. I may or may not include non-HAL cruisers in the maps. I cannot find a way in cruisemapper to select a group of individual ships except by cruise line, so my decision will be based on how many ships the other cruise lines have and how much non-HAL ships with no dailyites aboard clutter up the map. I suspect I will never include @Lady Hudson since Royal Caribbean has so many ships with a color not that different from HAL ships. I also tried putting peoples names in red and I think I like that better than the green. If we continue to get multiple dailyites on the same ship I may find it necessary occasionally to truncate a name or two. Roy
  10. I think PTZ was reading my mind. Bon Voyage Terri & Jim Roy
  11. Strange behavior from Port of Miami Webcam today. You are in Terminal J on the south side of the island (only used by smaller ships) but the webcam is pointed high to the north side so no ships are in view. I think I saw the top of your mast but that's all. Roy
  12. I think it is still POSSIBLE to get a Social Security check but is now rare. An issue with checks is that sometimes they do not get cashed. When a check is issued the funds to cover it are immediately withdrawn from the trust fund, and the money is lost even if the check was not cashed. I think sometime around the turn of the century a 1-year expiration date was put on the checks so now the money is returned to the trust funds at the end of the year, and older uncashed checks were reimbursed in bulk to the extent possible. There was also a provision to reimburse the fund for the interest these payments would have earned if the checks had not been issued. There was also a deadline when all payments had to be done electronically but there were protests and it was withdrawn. One of the things I did at Social Security was calculate the interest to be returned to the trust funds and at the time I was nearing retirement. At one time I had set a tentative retirement date as the time when the last uncashed checks expired. Roy
  13. Today's sunrise is from my 2016 Crystal Symphony cruise from Buenos Aires to Antarctica to Miami. January 31 was a sea day from Puerto Madryn to the Falklands: Roy

  15. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Paul, Eva, and Ann for the last FR&D for January. I don't get Social Security but will appreciate the day because all my earnings and retirement income can be traced to work for the Social Security Administration. Thanks @grapau27; I;ll pass on both Brandy Alexander and Gorilla Suits. While we still have quite a few concrete cloverleafs it is not as many as years ago. I've been to Ireland but not to Northern Ireland. 3 interesting days Not sure how much Mandella gave up to get his freedom but he certainly made the best of it. Not a fan of soaps but it sounds like a great day for women's golf. Bon Voyage @Cruzin Terri. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Watermelon Gazpacho, Verse Fruit Salad, Surf and Turf (Turf for me), and Vanilla Ice Cream as served on MS Prinsendam January 31, 2019: Roy
  16. How did I miss noticing that you were at sea? Roy
  17. I think there's an exception in the PVSA that allows one way cruises from either Puerto Rico or Virgin Islands until there is a US carrier that is up to the job. I can't remember which of the two it is but my best recollection is that it's San Juan. Roy
  18. Looks good to me. One thing I would like to see happen is options for an overland journey from Durban to Cape Town. Roy
  19. OOPS! What was I thinking. Mixing up 2 Floridians. That should have been @MISTER 67 DW. Roy
  20. Today's sunrise is from my 2018 Crystal World Cruise. On January 30 Crystal Serenity was on an overnight call in Honolulu" Roy

  22. Thank you Rich, Jacaui, Vanessa, Ann, Paul, and Eva. Bon Voyage @dfish @summer slope @Sharon in AZ and @Quartzsite Cruiser. @Cruzin Terri your ship is just a little SW of Key West. Healing wishes for @DWAliaschief. I'll pass on drawing a dinosaur, and would love either a croissant or an escape. The Sparks quote rings true to me. I have not been to Airlie Beach. Belated thanks to Thomas Jefferson. The meal sounds nice but I do not have a slow-cooker. My alternative is Carmelized Orange and Grapefurit Cocktail and Prime Rib of Beef au Jus as served on MS Maasdam January 30, 2015. Roy
  23. One map today. With Rotterdam and Eurodam both in Curacao, there is little to be gained from a Caribbean map. Nieuw Amsterdam is not really that close, and the other ships are pretty well spaced out. Roy
