  1. One thing I've done is make my first purchase with a crisp $20 bill and get some of the local currency as change. I think it's worked fairly well for me. Roy
  2. This has come up on the Crystal forum. They have 2 ships, one on the World Cruise with many passengers booked through to Miami. That one will be carrying passengers on whatever the new itinerary becomes. The other is due to reposition to Athens for a Mediterranean season that is heavily sold. That ship will dead to Athens as fast as possible without passengers. With no passengers they do not need a lot of the entertainers and lecturers that come on for a cruise, and send some crew whose contracts are nearing the ends home early and delaying some others until passengers return. That and last minute African cruises would be hard to sell. Roy
  3. I think many here know I am pretty much addicted to pondering itinerary possibilities. I think the last places where passengers may board are: Mumbai April 14 Istanbul May 2, 18 days later Piraeus May 14, 30 days later Toulon May 25, 41 days later According to Sea-distances.org these are the travel times from Mumbai at 18 knots: Istanbul 26-days 13 hours Piraeus 25 days, 20 hours Toulon 24 days even I'm not convinced Istanbul would be a viable turnaround port with the current political situation but in any case there is no way :Serenity could be there. I think Piraeus is just barely viable, given that there will be some areas where full speed would not be allowed but there might stiill be time for perhaps 3 or maybe 4 stops over the 30 days. While Crystal sea days are great that;s still a lot over the course of a month. A pretty decent itinerary could be developed for Toulon but I suspect there would be very few people using that as a turnaround port. With a single segment Mumbai to Miami the options for an interesting and unusual itinerary are many and varied (I suggested one earlier in this thread), I expect the decision will be based in part on the numbers embarking in each port, the availability of ports with appropriate facilities, and the desire to provide full world cruisers the best possible experience. Time will tell. Roy
  4. I assume you were out of Maryland before the rain. I hope you had it dry all the way back. Roy
  5. As I said the last 2 days were really busy, mostly medical. The visit with my oncologist Monday seemed really routine, and the rest of the day I chilled at home. It was a longer than normal visit because the practice closed for Friday's storms so they had almost a double load of patients. I had an hour plus meeting with the Fire Department bank to update our account signers, and then my physical yesterday afternoon was also mostly routine, except that the sore on my left foot hasn't improved. He made some suggestions but I will need to see my podiatrist again and his first opening was mid-February. What was not routine was the aftermath of the Oncology visit. Despite the round of radiation my PSA showed a significant rise. I knew of this about noon, and later got messages from my oncologist that he wants to start me on a new pill. We have played telephone tag for 2 days but I have no further information on what is involved. Roy
  6. Short and sweet. Thanks Leanne, Dave, and fellow addicts. Roy

  10. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Ann, and Dixie. Happy Hump Day, and Happy Birthday @Cruising-along. I know the Daily was started REALLY early today; It sounds like Jazqui might have had difficulty sleeping. I like a belly laugh but have no pets and will pass on the beer cans. I like the Lewis quote but have not been to Hafia. We have a plethora of interesting days today, my favorite is probably the introduction of Scouting for Boys. I'll pass on the Salmon. I guess I was pretty well tired out yesterday and forgot what day it was. My alternative meal then should have been Caesar Salad, Petite Fillet, and Not so Classic Baked Alaska as served in MS Prinsendam's Pinnacle Grill January 23, 2019: My alternative for today is Chilled Mixed Berry Soup, Fruit Celebration, and Broiled New York Striploin as served pm MS Maasdam Jamiaru 24, 2015. Roy
  11. I don;t think that's necessary. I doubt if many passengers are boarding in Europe so they can do pretty much a normal cruise with a few people affected but the full world left whole. Roy
  12. Today's sunrise is from the 2020 Crystal World Cruise. On January 23 Crystal Serenity was headed west before being diverted to Cabo for a medical disembarkation: Roy

  14. Thank you Rich, Jacqui, Vanessa, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann. My feet were examined today but not really measured. My writing is poor, and I had a turnover today rather than Pie. Interesting quote by Myers. I visited Fujairah once on Silver Whisper in a cruise I was happy to be a one and done. Two great days in recent history. Not sure I would want Spaghetti Lovers Soup, I'd rather than have regular old spaghetti. My alternative is Fruit Ceviche, Oaxaca-Chile Pineapple Glazed Ham and Chilean Apple Crumb Cake as served on MS Prinsendam January 22, 2019. Finally home to stay and just getting to dinner. Roy
  15. Today's map: It will be a very busy day so I'm not sure when/if I will post again, Roy
  16. @Cruzin Terri thank God you took that photo and pressed the issue with Mayo. Wishing you a quick and easy solution to the latest setback. Roy
  17. Note there is a new thread on this with a press release from Crystal. Roy
  18. Today's sunrise is from my 2017 Grandeur of the Seas cruise out of Baltimore. January 22 was the last sea day before our return to Baltimore: Roy
