  1. And the one time we booked a package we made a bee line for the dining reservations as soon as we boarded and were told that they nothing that fit our needs and we ended up canceling the whole package.
  2. Got it today for my Gold card and activated it right away. I have some questions. First I am assuming that it is good for any $500 spent directly with Celebrity and charged on the card. If that is the case I want to go ahead and charge our Wifi for our August sailing while there is a sale BUT it is less than $500 so can I make up the difference by buying some extra OBC? I will need it for grats anyway. If that works where do I find the way to purchase the OBC? I looked around some and I don't see it.
  3. PTCDawg, I did not mention that spooky walk in my comments but after one trip through it I found a way to avoid if I wanted to get to Eden. It wasn't so much creepy as it was uncomfortable for me walking out of bright light into something very dark. Honestly, I worried about tripping on what I could not see. I guess that is why they make chocolate and another flavor....
  4. The areas around the Sunset Bar are not terrible but some of those pods are for smokers. We never really found a nice, quiet area to just hang out in. Eden can be quiet during the day, unless they are rehearsing for a show but we found the seat really uncomfortable.
  5. The one I am on at the moment. They have all been great.
  6. Never been able to afford to do a suite but we have been on most of the S and M class ships and on the Beyond. I totally agree with those who love the S class. Just a bit bigger with more dining options, cabins that are a bit bigger. We love having a real balcony, we love having the Sky Lounge and the Ensemble to hang out in on sea days plus the Library on a rainy day. The openness of the Sunset bar on the S and M class is nice too. On the Beyond, we had a problem on day one and it probably influenced the whole experience but we found the layout in general to be choppy and things were hard to find. The Club is just a big dark room with a bar and some seating. Not a place I would want to just hang out. Eden looks really nice but we found the seating really uncomfortable. Everything seemed really low, maybe they were going for the modern look? Just not comfortable. Our Cabin was an OV because we booked late and the IVs were sold out and we really missed the balcony. The window was an ok size but more often than not it was covered in sea spray so you could not really look out. We are on the Eclipse in August and really looking forward to be ing back on the S class.
  7. I did email my TA this morning. He did get back to me. All CC is now sold out. I checked it on the Celebrity web site and indeed they are all sold out. Thanks for the heads up kasowell2. I guess others saw it and jumped in first.
  8. Thanks Hawkstar33. We are on the ship in August for Iceland and glad to hear things onboard are all good. We did Summit to Bermuda twice and it was a great trip with a lot of demand so Celebrity moved the Eclipse into that run for this year. A year ago we were lucky, marine traffic was light as we sailed away and Captain Smith was able to spend a lot of time around The Lady so we all got great views of her and of the city before we headed for the VZ bridge. Even though we lived there for 34 years the sights are always impressive.
  9. Now you have me tempted to petter my TA again. Looks like a $60 for us to go up from a V2 to an XC. TA may disown me for asking since I have had him reprice twice already to save me over $3000.
  10. It is not about the emails, it about the status levels. You both want to earn the points towards status. Royal and Celebrity have different views on how cabin mates with different status can share the benefits so it is better if both have the status.
  11. Since we live in Las Vegas the biggest perk for us is free parking and being able to skip a line here and there. It is a pain to have to renew each year since our Celebrity status does not expire but it takes me less than 5 minutes to stop in and visit the MGM Rewards desk. Being retired we don't stay in hotels much anymore so the Marriott deal is not a biggie for me. Neither was Hyatt.
  12. MGM is now doing hotel match with Marriott.
  13. If you have a beverage package stock up on water bottles since it is included in your package. There is usually a bottled water station as your exit the ship so you can grab a few as you leave the ship.
  14. Thw S class ships are my favorite. I just like the size, the amenities, etc better. The overnight in Istanbul makes it a no brainer. Our first cruise with Celebrity after 3 with Royal was a similar itinerary and we picked because they were the only ones offering Istanbul and it was an overnight. We have done a dozen or so Celebrity trips since then and two on Royal. Yes, we are older but we just like Celebrity better.
  15. Thanks. I reserved with Lotus in Reykjavik, the let me pick up at the airport and drop off near the cruise port and used orbitz for the other two stops. Hopefully it all goes well.
  16. Dakahuna, is this something new? I recall that in the past it was either/or.....and I know that I complained about the benefit being devalued because it was either/or. Handbellplayer, if it is minute plus discount that is new to me and good news. Now I need to rethink my plan for August.
  17. If that is the case, it is something new. Still a lot of math today. On our last cruise we got a 50% on the black friday flash sale. We have also tried buying one discounted package and then allowing the other to use both sets of 90 minutes, That does not work either unless you can find someone in the iLounge to over ride things and create a second log in for the package holder so you can access the "free" minutes as well as the package minutes...
  18. I believe that the benefit is either/or, not both. We are Elite and get 90 minute or 30% off the regular rate. Sadly we cannot stack that 30% on the flash sale pricing so some times the flash sale price is the best deal. Gotta do all of the math.
  19. We have cars reserved in 3 Iceland ports in August. No company mentioned any age limit.
  20. It has been a while but when we had to meet a private tour at the ferry dock we arranged a water taxi from the tender dock near the cable cars and donkey trail over to the ferry pier. Check your roll call and see if you can find some others to join you to cut the per person cost. We booked the water taxi in advance so they were waiting for us when the tender docked.
  21. I see the difference but since the All Inclusive rates don't work for us it is still a non-starter here.
  22. I have never seen it before but we both have birthdays coming up in the next 30 days...BUT, the fine print says it is not good with Simply Sail or with TA bookings and those are our preferred choices so I guess we will pass on this one.
  23. Yes, you can buy and cancel as sales come and go but what I have found historically the best sales come around July 4th and Black Friday. We sail in mid August so right now I am waiting for July 4 to see what happens. Like you we are Elite so I know that for Wifi there is always a 30% discount waiting if the sales don't meet my expectations.
  24. Are you chasing status or looking for cruises to enjoy? That is the question. We started with Royal but moved to Celebrity for an itinerary and found it more to our liking so we stuck with iit.
