  1. The current musicians and singers are much the same level of talent as the BBKings ones. In fact, we saw some of the BBKings entertainers on our two last cruises playing/singing at the Rolling Stone Lounge. It really is much the same, just a bit broader.
  2. Our last cruise Pinnacle lunch was accounted for this way: $15 pp $15 + 18% = $17.70 minus 50% off the $15 ($7.50) = $10.20 pp charged.
  3. Congrats on your 4 star accomplishment! Ummm.... however, you would pay $25.84 for your two Pinnacle lunches. You pay the 18% on both, unfortunately.
  4. Most pax do not order extra entrees, I think, and thus HAL didn't make a lot of profit on that. Now, they lose if everyone starts on that second free entree (unlikely!). HAL's gain in looking good for discontinuing that particular charge anyways. So, that "now free" extra appetizer is one I really need to order since I will be paying that extra $7.00 anyways with the increase from $39 to $46.
  5. Good to hear that all went well. Interesting about the insurance. I know it is a real hassle, very expensive, very time-consuming and frustating. Best wishes!
  6. I am wondering about the 3 pm arrival for all flights through HAL which seems to be cutting it short. I do remember several years ago the ship extending our departure for several hours for FlightEase pax to arrive. It was very late that evening when they straggled onboard.
  7. kjlimousine.com timelimo.com citylimos.ca are three of many
  8. Take a Flight Ease flight and the HAL transfer. Or maybe you can get just the HAL transfer: have you asked HAL about that?
  9. Surprising to us all the attitude on this ship as the General Hotel Manager is a nice guy and well liked from what I can tell. He leads and his officers follow. We have found that the bar guys and ladies who man the Explorations Cafe do not seem to be too positive about serving coffee and eats. They are all well-trained bartenders and servers and seem to prefer doing the job they are trained for. We have seen this on and off on multiple HAL ships over the years. Some are excellent, some not so much. Maybe it all comes down to personality?
  10. In March- April and just recently there were also books available in the Explorations Cafe area on deck 3 forward starboard. Rolling Rock band plays pretty much a combination of rock and roll, soul, blues, Mowtown, etc.
  11. This is one of the reasons we stay clear of the Lido whenever the MDR is open :)
  12. Hi, Roxxy This sounds pretty good news for you. Radiation and hormone therapy seems the best bet. I understand you did cruise, though. How did that go?
  13. We have had a few "surfer dudes" who had dance experience. Not impressed, and not all that crazy about the highly sexualized female CDs either. We liked Tom Faulkner, Bruce Scudder and the the CD on this year's World cruise: they were older, more experienced, understood the HAL vibe, especially on longer cruises.
  14. Welcome to Vancouver in awhile. You have a good day for sail-away. Best wishes for the best cruise on my favourite ship, which is now docked and waiting for you!
  15. On our 39 day Noordam cruise the Cruise Director was everywhere. Very busy on sea days and on port day evenings. Introducing evening shows, doing the Coffee Chat with various officers and guest entertainers, doing port talks. She would come early to the evening shows and wander around the Show Lounge talking to guests, even to those, like us, whom she had no involvement with. We had had her before and noted that she was more present on this cruise. We thought she was definitely earning her keep and I kept wondering when she had time to change her clothes and eat!
  16. I have found that the Private Sale mail-outs are usually out of date pricing. Signed in under my Mariner Number I find better pricing. However, the pricing for emailed Private Sales from HAL are always what I find under my Mariner number.
  17. Depends on the cruise, long or short. If short, go to see the FC Consultant the very first or second day. Longer cruises you can wait a while. Going early also lets you check for errors before you are off the ship.
  18. Looks as if they are limiting cruise ships because of some rowdy younger Brits who travel to Amsterdam and cause a lot of trouble. Also, the pollution angle is a valid one, but to limit all cruise ships? Sounds like the sledgehammer solution. Rotterdam should be able to take advantage of this move by Amsterdam. For us this is a positive since we enjoy Rotterdam
  19. I am referencing both. I did some editing which you may have missed, so please go back and read my whole post.
  20. (Way back when we got our first Covid credit for a cancelled cruise, the wording said you could not use it towards a deposit on another cruise, just to pay down the amount owing after the deposit. When the time came, it was used for the deposit with no fuss. Always check and double check!) MIKE: The FCD/FCC that you purchase onboard is good for 4 years. "should be USED WITHIN 4 years" is what it says on our confirmations for these. However, the HAL website shows "SAIL BY 2027" for the ones we made this year. The vocabulary is confusing.
  21. Manulife has a lot of plans under different names. The Cover Me plan is very good as long as you do not have a bunch of pre-existing conditions, unstable or stable. Easy to use online form and you can call them as well if you have questions.
  22. We found almost no drink menus in any HAL bar or lounge on our last two cruises, 39 and 14 days. So, how much is any specific drink? You have to ask a waiter and that is one more reason we do not buy HIA or the Signature Bev packages.
  23. Loved last year's posts and that "cool" granddaughter of yours. Have a really super time and we will enjoy every post.
