  1. Club/Reserve Class dining has moved between Decks 5 & 6 on some ships, but it doesn't matter. Which ever one has it, it is only a small section of the DR and the rest is open to anyone.
  2. If you had insurance, it looks like not worth chasing the ship. But I suppose you are trying to salvage something out of expensed funds. Seems odd cannot get to Ketchikan in time, but must be very limited flights. Juneau - I don't understand why it matters that it is a tender (water shuttle) port. Is someone from Guest Services not interested in coming ashore to check you in? On Princess.com, there is a list of marine phone numbers for each ship. Since your funds are sunk already, why not call the ship and bypass all the run-around you are getting? I would have called the ship on the weekend to inquire about Juneau. Wish I had seen this post earlier.
  3. It's silly, but better than having post deleted. I adjusted mine reply as well.
  4. As you must know, we are not allowed to name our travel agencies.
  5. Since the policy change, there has not been a full year pass as yet for any of the newer FCD's to come up to expiry. I have not had a FCD expire on us before using it. However, I have had a FCD extended that was applied on a booking I was cancelling and re-booking for a new fare promotion with savings, etc. The trick is you have to request the extension before the old booking is cancelled or the now-expired FCD will be refunded to the original credit card that paid for it and the FCD is lost for the new replacement booking. Actually, I will correct that. I am pretty sure we had a couple of FCD's extended during Covid pause when booked voyage(s) were cancelled. But that was an exceptional situation. I imagine a lot of guests are going to be asking for the 1-year extensions. It seems rather arbitrary to have done it. We last purchased FCD's in Nov 2022, so no worries until Nov 2024.
  6. Ever since we have had situation where a card had to be suspended due to fraud and was out of commission, we have backup cards for USD, foreign purchases with no exchange surcharge, as well as extra CAD cards. Whether a cruise or land trip, we always have back-ups now as it can be either impossible or take a while to get a replacement to someplace other than home.
  7. Same here, but I have seen where some US agencies do charge service fees.
  8. I just got a picture in my head of Captain Bye-Bye doing the reading and I think it would have been entertaining for the adults as well. No doubt, he would have riffed off the story line for some of his own humor.
  9. I would see which one on the menu is of interest and order it but ask them to hold the suckers, hold the candy, and hold any other junk tossed on it that I didn't want.
  10. We didn't have a choice of dates in 2018 when we elected to take a 60-nighter around the continent. We left in late JAN and were way down south later in FEB. I think it was a mixed situation where some molting was still going on and it depended on location. We saw penguins in various places.
  11. Call in on Tuesday (Mondays are a zoo) and ask for EZ-Air dept or EZ-Air rep. From recalling various past posts I have read, I believe when a guest re-books air to a lower fare after FP Date, but before ticketing date, the resulting credit is (eventually) refunded back to the credit card used to pay for the booking. That said, they might need a nudge or two to get a move on.
  12. You do have a point there. However, Princess is fairly repetitive with the same voyages over and over - until they decide to come up with something new. The Sapphire has been doing the S.A. voyages for some time now. The only thing booked for Sapphire in 2025 is April 8 big trip from LA to South Pacific and back. Looking at 2024, the same trip for Sapphire is on the schedule for April 5 from LA. Just prior to that, Sapphire returns to LA for the final time from S.A. tripping. There is a large gap in the Sapphire schedule for late Sep right thru April 2025. You would have to see if anyone in Princess sales department knows anything or will investigate for you. It does seem odd and I guess if I were in your shoes, I'd be curious as well. At least you can get an idea of the S.A. itineraries by checking out the 2024 voyages on Princess.com. Meanwhile, the Sapphire seems to be a ghost for about six months at this point.
  13. But, Ken, we also do not know how many GTY's are booked and waiting assignment. Hard to tell and I was just speculating. @Ken the cruiser
  14. Same as any restaurant you book at home. How do you know your table will be waiting at 7:20pm? Because they won't book someone else in it closer than likely 5:40pm. That said, you may find you have to wait a few minutes for the table upon arrival. It depends on how the flow has been going and number of others looking to dine at the same time. They do handle guests with res separately from walk-ups. Although DMW does not do this (and cannot programmatically), you can ask for the same table and waiters each night. Ask the DR Mgr or Host who uses their internal booking app and see if they cannot block you into a desired table and time and then you can just walk in each night to "your" table and have the TD experience with the same wait staff. Your time should not be too bad as early diners using your table will be done and they might ask you to adjust your time by a few minutes to secure a set table. If one of the DR's cannot accommodate, it is likely another can. Ask early on Day 1 and it can work out for you. ETA: I should have stated that since DMW doesn't block guest into same table each night, DR hosts can seat you anywhere at your res time. As you might imagine, diners are coming and going more randomly than in the old days of two TD sittings per evening. So, a number of earlier diners will be vacating tables and they open up for later diners. The tricky part is if you want to secure the same table and waiters each night.
  15. As mentioned in posts above by others, we don't know all the rules and policies yet. But the receiving friend could just give the non-receiving friend $50 or $125 as case may be and all is square.
  16. This came to my mind: (PS - I do know what a torch is in the UK. Soon as I saw the word, I knew if I looked left, I would see your country under your avatar. 😉 )
  17. Don't you combine your cabin account and settle all expenses and OBC net charges to a single credit card? If so, it doesn't matter which one of the two PCL allocates the Military OBC to. Of course, at first we all know the IT department will screw up the programming, so I expect couples who both qualify will either get nothing posted automatically, or both will be credited. You just know there has to be a program bug out the gate, followed by several threads here asking if people are getting their proper OBC, and ultimately IT will fix the bug. Who knows, maybe a Shareholder will get a Military OBC? Almost anything is possible with Princess IT.
  18. Veterans apply once with a special form and then all future bookings are automatically credited with the OBC. The SH benefit must be applied for each voyage booked. IMO, it doesn't matter who gets the Military OBC for a couple and it is 99% one big pot of OBC and expenses, all netted out to a single credit card at the end.
  19. Someone else asked this within the past week or so. I really doubt PCL is exiting S.A. after cruising there for years and years. I guess just be patient. I see HAL has their offerings on website. No idea why Princess is not ready, unless they are trying to sell more cabins for Winter 2024 first.
  20. I think the answer is in my post #13. The Plus and Premier packages are cruise fare related and commissionable for TA's and I think that is why guests must go through the TA as the cruise fare is directly increased. What I do not know is if a guest - booked with a TA - orders Plus on board the ship, does the TA earn commission? One would think not, since the TA was not involved in "selling" the package. But, I have no idea.
  21. They are looking to upgrade to the Plus Fare package - not the separate beverage package. (At least, I hope so, because it would be "pound foolish" to purchase the standalone beverage package).
  22. I think you need to hear from someone with a recent situation and not go by anyone with a Covid cancellation because PCL probably wasn't doing their normal thing then.
  23. The only downside is the days are shorter, but still longer than anywhere in North America - especially the more northerly latitudes. When we travel from the Toronto area to SW FL at end of December, we automatically get >1 hr longer daylight. That does slowly decline until around March 21 when length of daylight is basically equal in both locations.
  24. I wouldn't want to visit San Francisco at all right now. Glad we had some visits there years ago.
