  1. But folks DON'T have to present separate key cards - It doesn't 'Always' work like that. I've often sat with couples both who I assume are on the drinks package , often the waiter will just nod and accept one card , Ok, possibly he/she may already be aware that both have the package, However, on the other hand I've also witnessed some 'unscrupulous folk' ( mainly in the late night venues - Yacht club etc) boldly ordering drinks from their package card and handing them over to their newly found guest friends .
  2. Don't be watching 'far too much Titanic', once you embark QM2 it'll be nothing like that. You'll have far more public venues to freely move around and enjoy than those upstairs - they will be coming down to join you 😉
  3. Ah! yes, it turned out much better than I thought 👍 There was indeed an 'official' Cunard employee from the ship ( in the vicinity of the cable car) calling forward any remaining Cunard guests ( this was approx One hour 45 mins before final embarkation of our ship) I understand ( we heard later) due to there being five ships in port ( 4 + QV) the latest times for embarkation and the departure of the ship are all staggered - On the particular day of our visit there appeared to be a very good procedure in place (up in the vicinity of the cable car) with various representatives/ crew members from the visiting cruise ships looking out for their respective guests. I expect this could be a sensible procedure now in place , regardless if one is on an organised ships excursion or not . ?
  4. The QA indoor pool has 'exactly the same full length loungers' as found across the Cunard fleet. The only difference to the loungers you are referring to in the QM2 indoor pool, those on QA are NOT on a Wooden base , they are on a 'Metal Frame' with a comfortable topping mattress.
  5. Or Earl Grey for me the other month in the Queens Room (QM2) No problem, one only needed to ask.
  6. 😅😅 Are you serious , the perk is for Your high loyalty .
  7. It's very all well saying that whilst you are sitting behind the comfort of your lap top - Just wait until you have the experience of the 'no luggage arrival on a 35 day cruise' and all the hassle trying to receive it - Not to mention the feeling of not being part of the sense of occasion after 6pm in pubic venues and restaurant.
  8. Exactly DRG-Mobile , Like you ( and hopefully the majority of 'sensible' seasoned cruisers) I've always packed with risk in mind. What many folk may not know is that a 'Suit/Dress Carrier is acceptable to take onboard in additional to one carry-on bag on most 'International Airlines' whether in economy or first (worked in the industry for years) and if one smiles to the cabin crew they will offer to hang it up in their crew wardrobe If travelling by air to join a ship I'll always ensure I've the 'minimum' of formal attire as carry -on . As for smart attire that's no problem, I'll aways present my self at an airline check-in desk ( or ship check-in) dressed smartly , often refer to it my going away outfit. Always on the look out for an involuntary upgrade. 😀
  9. Britannia Club is often considered as a Halfway House to Princess Grill . Think of it as 'Premium Economy.' Britannia Club cabins are identical to the standard 'Britannia BALCONY' cabins. Britannia Club offers additional amenities, for example , Priority check-in & embarkation - Coffee machine - Bottled water, replenished daily, high quality towelling Bath Robe. The main attraction for those of us who occasionally book Britannia Club is for the Dining experience . An Intimate Restaurant , Open Dining, dedicated table and wait staff for all meals . An additional A 'la cart menu for evening dining - Table side flambe' desserts- Cheese Trolley.
  10. Why on earth would you want to be knocking back alcoholic drinks on a package 'every now and again' when your husband is unable to enjoy and share an alcoholic drink you. Just pay as you go. Nothing wrong in enjoying a pre dinner cocktail and a couple of glasses of wine with dinner each evening but by the time you have paid the doctor for the letter ( cost me £50 for my doctor to authorise my passport photo 'a couple of years ago' - goodness knows what it would cost today) Just pay as you go between you and forget all the hassle and additional expense of letters.
  11. The concept of evening meals in the Golden Lion (QE) was introduced to accommodate the guests who often return to ship later in the evening from their shore side tours , this is mainly on the Alaskan itineraries for example Whale watching and several other ships tours that often take place late afternoon/early evenings . More practical for them to pop into the Pub on returning back to ship for a bite to eat without having to worry changing into smart attire. I expect the reason it is not offered on QM2 is her itineraries are mostly Transatlantic without ports and late evening shoreside tours.
  12. Well I would have polity asked 'Who am I speaking to please" - Closed the discussion and telephone again within an hour or so and asked to speak with a manager - or put it in writing.
  13. It states Diamond , which is all the agent needs to know.
  14. Stick with a pair of Chinos - What is it with this jeans thing guys . Leave em at home or wear on shoreside tours . Probably not the answer you expected but I'm being frank with you .😉
  15. I expect this is sort of error , It has never been known 200% for solo in 'Britannia category' - In Grills yes.😉
  16. Not too sure what you mean by 'Standard reduction' are your referring to 175% The 175% for solo occupancy is standard across ALL four ships . As I've mentioned in my post above it is only QA ( Britannia category only) that will from time to time offer solo guests a reduction from the standard 175% on selected routes .
  17. Unlike the other ships in the Cunard fleet Queen Anne will from 'Time to Time' offer Special Solo rates on 'certain itineraries' . This is because QA does not have Solo Cabins. This concept was made known in a flyer I picked up ( over a year ago) whilst on Queen Victoria in onboard voyage sales. Similar to Silversea cruise line
  18. I'm totally confused with your reply , I have a wealth of travelling Solo with Cunard ( 54 voyages almost eight hundred days) in Britannia Balcony or more often Britannia Club, never paid for double occupancy always paid less ( approx 175%) unless I book Grills which is double. Not too sure if the booking was made on line by your self, if so may I suggest booking any future cruises via a reputable cruise specialist, OR, take advantage of booking on onboard ( voyage sales) and transfer the booking to a cruise specialist of your choice who will often in turn offer a further small discount off the original invoice.
  19. Are you in Grills category ? if not you have paid 175% Either way your auto gratuities will be a single person charge .
  20. The question has often appeared on surveys here in the UK , it's been around for some time, same as the question relating to feeling uncomfortable at the Opera . Yes I agree the majority of the time we are addressed as Sir/Madam , I expect the question is there to gauge the demographic of the Cunard customer and their replies
  21. No, but there was the following 'on a scale of O to 9' , O being doesn't apply to me - 9 being applies to me Question; Being Called Sir or Madam is too formal for me Unbelievable 🤦‍♂️I expect it's in preparation for the 'New Vibe' "Hi Guys are you ready to order"
  22. There is one Male Professional ( without lady partner - she is expected to join him on a later itinerary) The professional is responsible for the midday dance lessons , occasionally he will turn up in the evenings when the 'so called Queens Room' is not being used for entertainers . Don't hold out on Ballroom dancing every evening, Ballroom dancers are being constantly told "QA is focusing on a different Vibe " ! I do have to laugh every time I hear "Younger Customers". Since UK Strictly ( dancing with the stars -US version) Ballroom/Latin dancing has taken off big time with Gen Z ( 20/30 somethings) Dance schools are opening up all over the Uk , my own dance studio is now overbooked with 19/20 year olds.
  23. Neither in Club category , bottled water is now also complimentary .😉
  24. You would be wise to pack/take any bottles of 'Liquid' onboard in your carry-on luggage . If you have ever witnessed loading of our luggage ( dozens of suitcases thrown on top of each other) you'll understand . Unlike travelling by Air there are no restrictions of liquids in hand luggage .
