  1. Evening meals are served ONLY occasionally on Q.Vic& QE., I noticed it was offered on two or three evenings in October 2023(Q.Vic) and on a couple of the evenings on QE ( Alaska cruise 2018) I expect this was to accommodate those who returned back to the ship after a late evening shore side tour. Evening meals in the Pub are not set in stone you will need to manage this once onboard, your daily programme will advise you. Edited to add; There is a possibility that QA will be offering evening meals in the Golden Lion on a regular basis as we understand Cunard have partnered with Michel Roux who will be reimagining some of the classic Pub favourites.
  2. One week later ; YIPPEE ! just had confirmation that proof of ownership has been approved - spent a sleepless week wondering if I'd managed to download the share certificate correctly, I can safely say I'm now in the 21st century 😉 however, that's where I'll leave it. You won't catch me bothering with that blessed onboard Cunard App thingy to book dining, speciality restaurants or Spa appointments etc I'll stick with interacting face to face .
  3. Yes, OBC can be used for 'Anything you purchase onboard' with the exception of Casino or Medical. OBC can only be used once onboard, unlike some other cruise lines it cannot be used for pre purchasing before embarkation.
  4. Thank Goodness it wasn't only me who had a hassle trying to install the App 😅 Had to go to my local Apple store - Thank goodness the young man (all of about age 17) sorted it out for me 🥵 Home now and downloading proof of ownership - I'll let you all know how successful I've been - Oh for those days when a simple email to Carnival House did the trick.
  5. When one is on a World Cruise of approx 100 + days ( or in my my case the South America sojourn 78 days) a short break from the confines of the ship, the food and the onboard daily activities is sometimes needed, however, returning back to the ship we often call home, we realise just how blessed we are.
  6. Basic dance lessons ( across the Cunard Fleet) take place on Sea days at approx 12.15pm shortly after the Captains noon announcement . There is NO sign up, you just turn up, ideally with a partner ( otherwise the instructors will endeavour to partner people together) Ladies ! make sure you are wearing sensible shoes that that will hold your heel in - we've all seen some sights of ladies trying to dance Cha Cha in flip flops . 🤦‍♂️ Information of the 'particular dance lesson of the day' can be found in the daily onboard program delivered to your stateroom.
  7. Cunard no longer list 'Ad-hock' speakers as these could be changed at the last minute . Ad-hock speakers (not to be confused with 'Themed Celebrity speakers') often embark down route having to rely on an Air Travel or other means of transportation to the ship, which occasionally is not always reliable.
  8. Machu Picchu over land tour : We departed the morning the ship arrived to 'Arica / Chile' Transported to a private airfield Returned on day four to 'Callo /Peru' ( the ship had spent an over night in Callo we arrived on the second day before the ship departed late afternoon)
  9. I took the over land tour to Machu Picchu ( Cunard Tour 2020 South American cruise) I have to admit it was quite expensive, however, it was certainly worth it. Private charter aircraft to Cusco, First class hotel accommodation Belmond hotel Monasterio ( full board) , Private charter train journey ( Belmond) up to Machu Picchu , professional English speaking guide who accompanied our group for the entire three days. A wonderful experience, I'd certainly recommend it .
  10. Wine by the glass ( with a drinks package) 'in the Main restaurant' is a hassle, not only for you but for those of us who purchase by the bottle. Trying to flag down a Sommelier to reach into the ice bucket to top up my glass isn't easy, as they are often back and forth to the Galley Bar dispensary, no sooner have they delivered a 'glass of wine to one person' on a large table of 6/8, another guest on the same table will often make a request for a glass of wine too - And so the sommelier disappears again for a good 5/10 minutes and has to wait in line whilst their colleague/s are being served. Don't get me started on this, it's often the bane of my life 😅 To answer your question - From my observations you may have a wait time of a good 20 mins, however, I understand that on busy evenings the sommelier will often encourage the Bar dispensary to give a larger pour.
  11. They are, however, it all depends on the length of your cruise. In October 2023 (20 day itinerary) it was offered, however, on my previous cruises of 10/14 days they were not offered. Visit the onboard Tours office ( who are responsible for bookings) or check out the daily programme Behind the scenes tours usually last for 3/4 hours and is chargeable, not to be confused with the occasional Galley tours were there is no charge.
  12. So far ( as of yesterday 29th Feb) there is yet no option in My Cunard for booking any of the specialty restaurants on Queen Anne, never mind packages. I'm on the Maiden voyage and have been eagerly looking forward to experiencing other restaurants. I expect someone will come along and correct us both, that we are not looking in the correct place .😉
  13. To pre order Celebration gifts ( eg Flowers, chocolates etc) Just google Cunard celebration gifts. To be very honest there really is no need to book the speciality restaurant (Veranda) in advance unless you are dining for a special occasion and need to celebrate on specific date ( unlike some other cruise lines QM2 has only one speciality restaurant) it does however have a pop up restaurant in an area cordoned off from the buffet area, these are pop up themed evening meals, eg Indian, Asian, Italian etc however , you will have to manage this when onboard as the menu is on a rotation and often changes daily.
  14. Never mind, You'll have the company of me in a couple of months or so on Queen Anne 🍾
  15. Yes you can take plastic bottles on Cunard Line, you will have NO problem. When finished, ideally you should leave empty plastic bottles 'on the floor next to your stateroom Waste Bin' as it is much easier for your room attendant to recycle.
  16. I believe they are in the same area as on Q.Vic ? Deck 3 port side & also deck 10 starboard Fwd ( outside the yacht club) including some additional areas towards aft on deck 10 starboard side You will need to look for the signage and ash trays . You will find the exact information in the daily onboard programme
  17. When cruise ships/Cunard mention guest capacity that refers to 'Berths' often referred to double occupancy (or in some staterooms 3 Cruise ships are never completely full to their stated capacity ,one needs to take into consideration solo guests occupying staterooms for double occupancy
  18. In the Main Britannia Dining Room at his Lectern as you enter, the first person you will come in contact with . The duty Maitre 'd is usually available for 'dining queries on Embarkation Day at approx 2pm' ( not too sure what port you are embarking - Southampton/Brooklyn does not offer lunch on embarkation day in Britannia ) May I just add, I feel you are stressing out too much about your parents dining arrangements , rest assured the MD and his team will ensure everything will be sorted . Just to confirm what has already been mentioned, the earliest one can dine in the 'main dining room' is 6pm.
  19. Yes that's the odd way it's often described, I've just taken a look at my Club Dining info, for the upcoming Queen Anne voyage, just the same, it's referred to as the Main Dining Room. Tell your friend no need to worry about it - worry more how many pairs of shoes to pack 😉
  20. I guess it's not what you know - it's who you know 😉
  21. So you'd turn down a free upgrade to 'Higher Category' if it was offered, would you 🤔
  22. That's the benefit of having Cunard friends in high places 👍😉
  23. Don't encourage em Richard , Sensible dress attire after 6pm is already going down hill with some of the newbies . 😉
