  1. The Enhanced Driver’s Licence (EDL) program ended June 2019 in Ontario. Existing EDL's can be used until their expiry date, but new ones are no longer being issued.
  2. I really appreciate all of the detailed information. Please keep it coming!
  3. Our most recent flight out of Amsterdam was at 3:15 PM. We did stay a number of days after disembarking, but could have had this flight time on the day of disembarkation. Flight Ease should be able to arrange an afternoon flight for you that would enable you to avoid any issues with the airport delays without the extra expense of staying overnight. Of course, Amsterdam is a lovely city to visit...
  4. I think that the antipathy relates to the complexity of the app coupled with a less than easily understood instructions that are spread across several different webpages and changing regularly. Some contributors here, you definitely among them @broberts, have developed a good understanding of an app that they have studied since its inception, and can probably provide more accurate information than some of the help desk crew at CBSA. But the elderly couple from Montana driving to Alberta to attend their niece's wedding might well be flummoxed by the app, if they have even heard of it. Hypothetical situation: A newly retired Boston couple disembarks in Vancouver and immediately hops into a rental RV and heads off on a two week road trip home via Canada. The Destination in Canada page lets them fudge most of the fields, for example, accepting "Trans-Canada Highway" as the street and "Multiple" as the city, but the forced-choice Province field will only accept a single province or territory. So do they just select "BC"? Or do they choose an alternate approach and simply list the address of the RV rental company? Either approach will be accepted by the app, but what does CBSA want? Is there a single correct answer, or can you go with any reasonable approach? Don't get me wrong, I'm quite happy with the app and the requirement to use it. But it's not perfect and I can understand why some people become frustrated with it.
  5. That's one of several options. The full range includes: a valid passport a Trusted Traveler Program card an enhanced driver’s licence (EDL) or enhanced identification card(EIC) from a province or territory where a U.S. approved EDL/EIC program has been implemented a Secure Certificate of Indian Status
  6. They are simply individual serving packages of instant coffee. Here's a shot of Starbuck's packets:
  7. The paper declaration hasn't disappeared and won't in the short term. The use of ArriveCAN to make your declaration is optional and only available when arriving at YVR and YYZ. With a lot of pressure being exerted on the GOC to drop the app completely, I don't foresee it replacing the forms. Maybe a new app, but ArriveCAN has developed a bad reputation, and if they want traveller buy-in, a new app would receive better acceptance IMO.
  8. Lots available on amazon.ca. Like others, I've never seen them on a HAL ship.
  9. Your comment made me think of my grandchildren, including the youngest, age 2 when this clip was filmed: My Movie 4.mp4
  10. Usually, people afraid of the water are non-swimmers. If that is your case, you might want to take lessons and become confident in the water. I've seen people in their sixties learn to swim, so I know that it's never too late.
  11. In March, we had a direct YOW-FLL flight that we had to cancel. In the off chance that as AC starts getting personnel numbers up to scratch and offering a greater number of flights than they are currently, and that they include a direct flight from Ottawa, would you be able to make a free/inexpensive change if you booked the YUL flight now? Just thinking of potential options. On the other hand, saving $500 is nothing to be sneezed at!
  12. That's a very positive step, including it on the Internet Cafe's PC's.
  13. You need to do a bit more research on e-sim cards, as they are not limited to data. Also, not all devices can use e-sims, particularly older ones, so here's a fairly current list of those that do: https://esim.holafly.com/how-to/esim-phones/
  14. I've used YUL a few times in the past when heading to FLL, and three hours would be more than enough for pre-clearance. While that might be tight today, given the current delays at the airports, I really don't think that it will be an issue in November. Are both options with the same airline and with the same fare? Same plane? What about departure times out of YOW, or FLL at the end of your cruise. I'd forget about the current airport issue and focus on which flight is better overall (pricing, departure/arrival times, seat selection, flight duration, points, etc.).
  15. In Canada, all cell phones sold since 2017 have been unlocked, and older phones have to be unlocked upon request. One less issue to worry about when purchasing a SIM.
  16. Tons of articles on the opening, but like you, I wasn't able to find an address. Looking at numerous photos and their backgrounds, it appears to be in the area of the red line I've drawn. Not an exact address, but perhaps close enough for your driver.
  17. No, there is no paper form. You need to use either the app or the online verion. Yes, you need to make a submission when flying into Canada, no matter what your plans following arrival are. You only need to make a submission each time you enter Canada. So if you visit multiple Canadian ports without exiting Canada you don't need to make a submission for each one. Once you have downloaded the app (or gone online), created and account and entered your passport information and uploaded your proof of vaccination, entering and submitting your trip information takes just a couple of minutes. Your personal information is retained in your account, so each trip only takes a couple of minutes to enter and submit.
  18. I first visited Scenic's Canadian website about a month ago following a chat with neighbours who were leaving within a couple of days for a visit to Venice followed by a Scenic cruise on the Seine. They have sailed with Scenic and were extremely happy with them. I've probably been on the website daily since then, and I've explored every corner of the website with no problems at all. That includes the webpages for all of their European cruises. I've not tried phoning Scenic, so I can't comment on their responsiveness via this medium, but I requested the 2022 and 2023 brochures on the website and received them within a couple of weeks. I subsequently booked for next year through my TA, and the booking appeared on the website either that day or the day after. I don't know if I am lucky or if you are unlucky, but I hope that your website access improves.
  19. Yes, every time that you enter Canada you need to make an ArriveCAN submission. If I go to the US for some cross-border shopping two days in a row, I need to make a submission for each entry back into Canada. On the positive side, it will be quick and easy to update your trip information for the second submission.
  20. Jim, the ArriveCAN requirements are pretty straight forward in your case, simplified by the fact that in all three cases, the cruise visits Canadian ports but begins and ends outside Canada. You will need to list the port of entry for all three - Halifax/St.John's/Halifax - but the other Canadian ports visited have no impact on your submissions. In all three cases, you need to make your submission within 72 hours before arrival in Canada or 72 hours before embarkation. With the second and third cruises, you can either make your submission onboard before the end of the preceding leg or wait until you arrive at your turn around port. Don't hesitate to ask any follow up questions that might arise.
  21. In the "Enter your marine trip details" section, you would need to put Victoria as your Port of Entry. No issue there. As you will be retuning home the following day, for the section "What is the full address of the location in Canada where you will be staying", I'd select Returning home as my destination type and list my home address. Effectively, you enter Canada in Victoria and then are in transit until you get home the following day. CBSA wants want to know where to contact you over the next 14 days, so you'll be home for 13 of those days and that appears to be the most logical address to list.
  22. I'd go with the iPhone as the 13 Max Pro has a decent telephoto capability with a great deal easier handling. A word of caution. On a whale watching tour out of Bar Harbor a number of years ago, an excited passenger whipped out her arm to point out a surfacing whale that I was just about to shoot, knocking my camera from my hands. Only my neck strap kept it from going overboard. So if you do use your iPhone, make sure that you have a wrist strap for the gimbal, just in case.
  23. Just to clarify, you have a port stop in Victoria, disembark the following day in Vancouver, and then fly out to the US later that day?
  24. Hi Jim. If you can post the details of your B3B itineraries, I'd be happy to give you a hand.
