What's the Carnival bartender's expectation?
Colorado Beach Bum replied to mfs2k's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
It’s the law of averages. They know some will tip extra and some won’t. At the end of a week I’m sure it all averages out. That being said, we always tip extra and the bartenders know it and recognize it. We’ve had superior service because of it and always have drinks made right away when we walk up to a bar. -
Casino offer vs. Premier offer
Colorado Beach Bum replied to tytanbri's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Seems like every cruise is now a premier, ultra or elite. We usually just book a regular casino offer and every time it’s been one of the hosted events. -

Carnival - Premium Internet Plan Multiple Device
Colorado Beach Bum replied to TexasJohn82's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Most amenities are not used by every single guest. Cruise lines decide which ones they can charge extra for and which ones are included. What may be luxury for some may not be for others. You could have this same discussions about every amenity - I don’t use the pools and hot tubs, why should I be subsidizing those that use them? Piano Bar, Comedy, Pizza and on and on. -
Changes to Carnival Loyalty Program
Colorado Beach Bum replied to JOHN 57's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I used to do this all the time - stop at 14 and buy the rest until I was done for the night and then get #15. But over the last few years they say you can’t even buy. Only loophole is the free drink they add to your account for the plat/diam party on excel class. -
Luminosa Ketchikan docking area

I was on Luminosa last year and we walked to Creek Street. It was just a few blocks. -
Early flight out of MIA - How it went for me
Colorado Beach Bum replied to soremekun's topic in Florida Departures
Yeah, it can be. Done it a few times. One time we rebooked a SW flight on the way to FLL cause we got off ship right at 7 and didn’t want to wait for a noon flight. Easily made that 9:30 flight. -

Colorado Beach Bum replied to soremekun's topic in Florida Departures
We’ve caught 9:30 flights out of FLL and checked bags. -
What do you ladies put in laundry bag?
Colorado Beach Bum replied to living at the beach's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We send out multiple bags every cruise and have never had any issues. Jeans, shorts, shirts, swimsuits, socks, underwear - basically anything that’s washer safe. -
Not the experience we’ve had. With passports, just zip right through. Line usually longer but proceeds way faster - especially with facial recognition. When with the grankids and bc’s the line was short but moved slow especially when agents questioned everyone - no facial recognition. The bc ports were LB and Galveston. And when I say longer, maybe 15-20 minutes. Definitely not two hours.

OBC-Stock should I purchase today?
Colorado Beach Bum replied to Derbie's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
No dividends but if OP takes two cruises this year and gets $200 OBC, that’s just under 13% return which is way higher than past dividends. And if OP turns around and sells that stock right after getting OBC without any loss it’s not a bad move. But as others have said, get your advice from your advisor. We are all in different financial situations and what’s good for one is horrible for others. -
Passport Processing Times.
Colorado Beach Bum replied to sternfanla's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Did you not just regular processing at the time? You prob would have got them back. We did renewals and took 3-4 weeks. -
Changes to Carnival Loyalty Program
Colorado Beach Bum replied to JOHN 57's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Not true. We took someone on an elite who was a red card and for that one elite cruise she had a platinum card. -
Celebration vs. Mardi Gras?
Colorado Beach Bum replied to NotTheBatesMotel's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Very similar ships. Hard to say which is better. A couple of the bars have different drinks, shows are a bit different, pizza and deli have different choices and other minor differences. Pretty similar experience. Pick based on your preference of where you like to sail from and which ports you prefer. Casino layout exactly the same but slots will be different with both having many of the same but not all. -
Cheers and Norfolk - 2nd day start
Colorado Beach Bum replied to kierra's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
DOUE works out of TX on day one as soon as the casino opens for both alcohol and non-alcohol drinks. -
Great post. Goes to show you people from different backgrounds really can get along. We all really aren’t all that different. This is one of the things I like most about cruising. Too bad this doesn’t happen much in the real world back at home these days.

Carnivals terms and conditions say iMessage is NOT supported even if you pay for WiFi. So even that may not be a guarantee.

Changes to Carnival Loyalty Program
Colorado Beach Bum replied to JOHN 57's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
A quarter wouldn’t double. The post said it doubled the count and I said a small fraction - wouldn’t 1/4 be a small fraction? -
Changes to Carnival Loyalty Program
Colorado Beach Bum replied to JOHN 57's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Yes that happens but I’d bet it’s a small fraction doing this. -
Changes to Carnival Loyalty Program
Colorado Beach Bum replied to JOHN 57's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I never said anything about elite or ultra perks. Someone said carnival makes money on all passengers and I said it’s an average, some more, some less. But to answer your question - elite and ultra perks are covered by casino spending not other passenger non-casino spending -
Changes to Carnival Loyalty Program
Colorado Beach Bum replied to JOHN 57's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Average means some will be less, some will be way more. I’d be willing to bet they lose money on many passengers and it’s more than offset by the big spenders.
