  1. Yes, you can choose embarkation time when you check in using a computer online. No problem. Just go to your res. online and click Check-In as soon as it's highlighted (starting 45 days in advance). We don't own a smartphone, so we always show paper--Passport, original covid vaccination certificate, proof of negative covid test and express boarding pass--in paper form at check-in to the ship. They photo whatever they need and I don't have to fool around and waste my time trying to download items that are stubborn about downloading. Ignore insistence that you HAVE to download the app, etc. and use it; it has never mattered at check-in.
  2. Below are the rules off the Celebrity web site as of May 2022: He'll need a letter billed as a Certificate of Recovery from a health care professional including the info, and the positive results test result showing positive using a NAAT test (could be a PCR which is a type of NAAT test) and yes, 11 days. For all sailings departing on or after March 18, 2022, Celebrity is now accepting a Certificate of Recovery. We will not accept a Certificate of Recovery in place of a vaccination record. All guests eligible to be vaccinated must also continue to show proof of full vaccination, with the final dose of their vaccine administered at least 14 days prior to sailing. A Certificate of Recovery must meet the following requirements: Be on official letterhead from a healthcare provider, public health official or telehealth provider showing: The Provider’s name The Provider’s address The Provider’s phone number Confirmation of your recovery and completion of isolation Be typed (not handwritten) and signed by the provider Must confirm the sample collection date of the positive PCR test, which must be a minimum of 11 days and a maximum of 180 days before the departure date of your cruise Date of validity must extend throughout the duration of your cruise Include a positive result document for a COVID-19 PCR test taken a minimum of 11 days and a maximum of 90 days before the departure date of your cruise. An antigen test result will not be accepted with a Certificate of Recovery. The test results document from your test provider must include the name of the lab that processed the test, the lab’s CLIA Lab Number or Certification Number, the address of the lab, your name, the date the test was taken, type of test, and your positive result. This can be a printed document, email, or telehealth app notification. Fully handwritten doctor’s notes (such as those written on a prescription pad) will not be accepted. Minimal handwritten components (such as a check mark on a “positive” box) are acceptable as long as the other required information is printed on the document.
  3. Far as I know and have done in the U.S., just show all these docs at the ship at check-in and they photo whatever they need; doesn't take any time and saves trying to download and having problems. I just checked in online on a computer today and again, I will just take all the docs to the ship at check-in and they can photo whatever they like.
  4. Yes, we were tested Sat. on this cruise on 5/28, DH positive, escorted to black van and driven to our hotel for a 5-night isolation stay, where we are now. Also, the ship had wonderful wooden chairs aft outside the Ocean View and also mid-ship 5 on starboard (midship 5 port is smoking area), but they had NO CUSHIONS on the hard, wooden chairs. Course, the smokers got cushions. What? So, can't really sit on them outside for more than a few minutes. Tried stacking pool towels, but just not comfortable. Clearly they have cushions, but choose not to put them on chairs for other than the smokers.
  5. Interesting to hear your comments. Now, my spouse who is positive is going to be "immune" for our next scheduled cruise--on Celebrity in July--so we would need a certificate of recovery and have the positive NAAT (PCR) test result in hand. So far I don't think I have cov. I have a NAAT test scheduled at Walgreens for this coming Saturday, the day after we get home, to see if I got it. Honestly, I'm tempted to cancel July on the Infinity. I think we'll cancel a month-long B2B in Oct. on Holland America just because it's Alaska one week and then 3 weeks Panama Canal--we would both (if I do get it) be out of the 90-day period after positive then, and I'd rather not risk being put off the ship in Central America! Final pay is 7/1, so we'll have to decide. And yes, you're right, through mid-December, ships were at 60% capacity on HAL max. April, there were more passengers on. Then "the entire U.S." in March, two years after 3/13/20, the start of all this, every business and folks decided no more masks and open everything open, free for all. (We are at 89 days sailing since last Sept.) Now, just have to figure how to get the full refund as promised from Celebrity for this missed week, refund for prepaid internet, file with our travel insur. for reimbursement/trip interruption for our hotel stay and meals. The admin. work is a pain in the neck (as it's my duty to take care of all this). Celeb. provided no written (despite 3 requests to cov. director on board and who swore she did/will send it to our cabin before we disembarked) info but verbal info on what they cover (up to $250 hotel, $100 a day for meals), but thank goodness from reading notes from previous cruisers, I'm sure we have to apply to our own travel insur. for any reimbursement first. They're really good at getting "you" off the ship for sure. . . .since our second cruise was not long enough (10 days) to allow us to stay on board.
  6. We had B2B scheduled last week and this coming week on Equinox. They told us at the beginning of last week no test between cruises for those continuing on. We met a couple who had second week of B2B last week for their two cruises and no testing between. However, come Wednesday last, we received a letter that all continuing cruisers on B2B would have to be tested yesterday, Sat. morning 8-9 a.m. We were tested at 8:00 a., and 9:10 the phone rings--one of us tested positive, confirmed by Rapid NAAT test in the afternoon, and now we are off the ship in a hotel in Fort Lauderdale. The other one of us confirmed negative by NAAT test. Too many people 2300 in close quarters, not wearing masks (about 10 of us wore masks throughout)--then when we were at 1% covid positive last Thursday, capt. announced masks required in Theater and casino. Really? That's all? We masked throughout (of course except to eat) and didn't go to any bars, any shore ex. and no groups. It's everywhere. And the cruise lines are so desperate for revenue that they are loading up the ships now with paying customers, so beware, with no mask mandates, but recommendation to wear them; people aren't listening. Not fun. I might add, this is the first Celeb. cruise we have taken--one week! and covid. We were on Holland America for 9 weeks last year and 3 weeks in April of this year, many B2B, one B4B, no covid for us. Many more HAL cruisers wear masks and there are far fewer cases, far fewer.
  7. Just to clarify (for others who may be reading this thread), re the Walgreens testing, the Rapid NAAT test works just fine and the results are given by email within two hours. We got our Rapid NAAT test results yesterday within an hour of taking the tests. A PCR test is a type of NAAT test. And in April, we also did the Walgreens Rapid NAAT test and got the results within 2 hours. Walgreens has never offered the Rapid Antigen test in our area, though they have always listed it as an option. We've gotten our Rapid Antigen tests at CVS (four times last fall), and now we'd have to do it with a provider's visit at the Minute Clinic.
  8. Both doctor's offices/lab test reports and drug stores, in my experience, issue a written test result report. It isn't on doctor's letterhead, it's a written test report form showing the entity that did the test (CVS, Walgreens, name of the medical facility), the name of the medical prof. who performed or reviewed the test, the date and time the test was given, what type of test it was and the results of the test. For us, it was either emailed to us so that we had to access it giving our birth date, etc. to match up with the signup info we gave (CVS or Walgreens), or as a lab report in our medical MyChart account at our doctor's office. For us, we then print copies of the report to show at the port. Others photo them and put them on the cruise ap on their smartphones. Always recommend taking a paper copy as a backup, though. I'm not sure why someone provided info re Princess when OP is asking on the Celebrity forum.
  9. To get assistance from Celebrity, I think you had to test positive while cruising, not after you disembarked. This link was posted on another thread. https://www.celebritycruises.com/content/dam/celebrity/pdf/cel-covid-19-cancellations-and-refunds-policy.pdf
  10. I do not have experience nor would I want to take an unvac. or vaccinated child on a cruise right now. If you become ill with covid and have to isolate, who will care for the child, etc. I know this is not what you asked and I don't want to start a fight, but as I said, I really think this is not the time to be taking a child on a cruise. At any time, you could be asked to mask, and in fact it would be a great idea, as we are going to do, and have done since last September while cruising, to mask outside your cabin. I have cruised extensively (9 weeks) last fall, in April for 3 weeks and again this Sat. we will be cruising for two more weeks. It's more complicated than extra testing at the port and mask-wearing.
  11. I realize you're requesting personal experience, but have you tried calling 1-800-628-4771, the number that the HA web site gives for Flight Ease, to ask them? I looked for a policy in writing on the HA web site, but didn't notice anything mentioning what you're asking--and ask for it in writing, I say, if someone tells you a policy. I'm sure others would be interested to know as well.
  12. Hello all, heading onto the Equinox this Saturday for two back-to-back cruises--our first Celebrity cruises. We've sailed B2B quite a few times on HAL out of Fort Lauderdale, so we know that routine. What is the drill for Celebrity on transition day from first cruise to second cruise--is it usually all meet in one of the lounges by a certain time, then are escorted as a group off the ship and through border protection, then back onto the ship? Thank you all for your help!
  13. Yes, bring good clothes pins, and another thing we do is ask our room steward for about 35 wire coat hangers as soon as we get on. I use about 8 to keep handy in the bathroom; I can hang wet clothes on them, then hang those on the clothes line over the tub, using clothes pins to keep the hangers in place on the line, and of course for socks, etc. Others I can bend the corners to keep blouses on the hangers, etc. I've done this for years, and it works fine. I also use the remainder to hang clothes in the closet; they take less room than the heavy, wooden hangers and can maximize space in the closets along with the wooden hangers--which closets are getting smaller and smaller in terms of room for our own stuff.
  14. We too were on the Ocean Princess Dec. 2015 crossing--total cruise length 89 days from London/Dover to Miami--our best cruise ever. Seas were wonderful, and we've crossed 5-6 times, always with temps in the 70s and calm seas--in December!
  15. I just downloaded this info from Holland America the Alaska/Canada rules. HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR ALASKA & CANADA/NEW ENGLAND CRUISES Our Alaska and Canada/New England cruises are available for guests who have received their final dose of an approved COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the beginning of the cruise and can provide a negative viral PCR or medically observed antigen COVID-19 test taken before embarkation. Guests under 5 years of age do not need to be vaccinated. Children between the ages of 5-11 who are not vaccinated may request an exemption at the time of booking and if approved may be subject to additional testing, fees and protocols. Children under 2 years of age do not need to be tested prior to cruising. We operate fully vaccinated cruises that meet CDC requirements. Exemptions are limited and not guaranteed. PROOF OF NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST Guests who are up to date with their vaccines or fully vaccinated may take their COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours prior to sailing or a medically observed antigen test within 2 days before sailing So, you could take the PCR test within 72 hours of sailing (in Florida on Wed. after sailing time on Sat. I guess assuming three hours time dif.) or a observed antigen test within two days (anytime Thursday) before sailing. https://www.hollandamerica.com/content/dam/hal/inventory-assets/Health_Sanitation/2022/0504-alaska-canada-health-protocols.pdf Rules FOP man posted seem to be for unvaccinated travelers. . . .
  16. I think it has generated a lot of confusion because it's one more thing we have to arrange very close to travel day or boarding the ship. A lot of people do not find it easy to use an app or a computer and probably have no idea how to download their passport or vax record and need help doing this. There are so many things to arrange and do within a few days of departure that ArriveCAN is just one more worry, and we haven't had to use this particular program before, so the unknown plays a big part in the worry that there will be a problem at the last minute while trying to complete the process without help readily available--except all the wonderful cruise critic folks!
  17. This is from several years ago, but then I was warned, be careful who you might pickup as a "cab" . It used to be, and may still be,--only the white vehicles with some sort of logo on them to identify them as legit. cabs.
  18. If you use the computer and not the app on a smartphone, you need to have your passport and covid vaccination certif. in PDF form so you can attach them to the ArriveCan program, far as I've heard. We will be using the computer to complete ArriveCAN and I have our passport and covid vaccination form in PDF form available so that I can attach them.
  19. Try Rome Cabs; it's a car service, and they are wonderful. We've used them several times. Email them to ask for a quote, etc. https://www.romecabs.com/
  20. I agree, print your luggage tags--much easier. I have a very small stapler that stays in my suitcase between trips and that I use to attach the luggage tags in the hotel room after the flight and before boarding; takes just a minute. Less to fiddle with at the port.
  21. I completely agree with your suggestion to be ready to hand it all over in paper form. Just for getting to the cruise port to check in, I put the four documents in a neck pouch--the passport, the covid vaccination record card, the covid test result form and the boarding pass. I've had a situation where the lady at the entrance door to the terminal said hold up your four documents before you come in! Then as you work through the checkin process, each step requires different documents, so I am able to put away the docs quickly that are not needed at that station. And of course, they put going through security in the middle of the check-in process so that you end up having to show a selection of docs before and after security, so you don't want your passport and docs in your hand, or your phone in your hand, during the time you're going through security. All in all, it goes quickly. Depending on a phone takes forever while scrolling through trying to find the right doc.
  22. I think what's required are express pass, passport, covid vaccination certificates showing vaccination dates, and results of (negative) covid test taken within 2 days prior to boarding date.
  23. Be aware on another thread just now, someone is saying that American Airlines did NOT accept the test they bought on board the Celebrity ship and caused them to miss their flights--other folks as well. Be sure to read the other thread.
  24. Yes, we fashion a head-side-of-the-bed cover for the end of the vent to have the air not flowing on my head--I use sheets of the HAL note pad and scotch tape that I always bring and use. I just tape the paper over just the end and voila, there is plenty of air into the room but not blowing directly on me!
