  1. Any comment on providing transportation to Venice? It is an hour away.
  2. Question on the Chef's Table. My wife no longer drinks alcohol. I'm assuming there is no discount for the Chef's Table for the non-drinker? Many of the wine tasting dinners I do offers a reduced price for a non-drinker. Perfect for having a sober driver home but not the case on a cruise ship back to our cabin.
  3. YES! Check out the wine shops in the local port and pay $10 corkage. You can find them easily on Google Maps
  4. There is no electronic components unlike a power strip. It is simply copper inside a plastic case with multiple receptacles to plug in. What you plug in has to be dual rated for 110 v and 220 V. Everything I travel with is, my computer, chargers, etc. Chargers and what we use draw very little amperage so you are unlikely to trip a fuse.
  5. The issue with power strips appears to be the surge protectors. It is easier to reject them then to spend time evaluating if they are safe. I bring extra multiple outlet adapters along with adapters to plug configurations so can use any outlet
  6. I recall on my trip last year it was about 30 days before the cruise I got an email to register.
  7. I believe you are correct and on past trips I have obtained the necessary Visa directly unless specifically told otherwise. You appear to be a US resident and likely a citizen so you can find out what is required on this site https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/americans-traveling-abroad.html
  8. Azamara offers three different themed Chef's Table dinners on each sailing. Up to 14 diners can book the five-course dinners, and a special guest (such as a senior officer or the ship's guest speaker) also joins. The menus focus on a specific region, centering around French, Italian, or California cuisine.
  9. On an upcoming cruise there was an excursion that began at 8:30AM but the ship docked at noon. I desired to do it and sent Azamara an email asking if they were picking us up by helicopter from the ship 😁 2 weeks later I got an email response and the excursion was moved to 1 hour after docking and I booked it. They do look at their emails !!
  10. Looked at my upcoming cruise and the ship appear to be almost sold out which is great for the Azamara financial health. Besides for bringing my own wine aboard will stop at Trader Joes for a bottle of Maple Syrup. Hopefully Azamara will wave the corkage on the syrup 😂
  11. Was doing more research and it appears the second stop Piazalle Europa on Chioggia is the first stop for the bus except for 6:28AM. Busses appear to run every 30 minutes and the trip is 1 hour 15 minutes. The last stop is Pizzalle Roma which is by the old cruise port in Venice that was closed to big ships and steps from my hotel. Would hope there is room for luggage on the bus so if someone has info that would be appreciated by all. Now to determine how to get to Pizalle Europa from the ship. It appears that the cruise ship might be docking at the North end of Chioggia so 2.7 km/ 1.7 miles is not viable walk with luggage for most of us. As my trip is a month earlier than yours will post once I'm there to help my fellow cruisers.
  12. They could arrange for busses at a reasonable price of approx $65/passenger if they chose for the 1 hour trip to Venice Piazzale Roma. A taxi van from Chiogga might cost $150 and could take 6 passengers. It might be the best option to get together on the roll call. I'm actually on an earlier docking in Chioggia on April 14th.
  13. I have to agree that the Ultimate package should be the baseline and not the included wines. I suppose that by cutting the costs of the including wines might make the cruise fare more competitive, especially for the cruisers who don't drink alcohol or don't notice the differences. While I have made my comments regarding their wines choices public on this board I love everything else about the cruise line hence sailing with them again. The $10 corkage is a bargain and I'm happy to find wines to bring aboard in the ports.
  14. As I appreciate your address in your signature we probably have some of the same wines in our cellars. I plan to buy 2-4 bottles as needed in the larger ports on my upcoming trip from Lisbon to Venice and pay the corkage. Google maps can be searched for wine stores close to your ports so you can stop on the way back to the ship. As they say : "La vita è troppo breve per bere vino cattivo" "Life is too short to drink bad wine"
  15. No one can answer but if the time you wish has already been booked there are cancellations that occur. The recommendation is to book the chefs table and specialty restaurants as soon as you board.
  16. If we are in fact docked at Chioggia in lieu of Venice it appeared the fastest way is to take a bus. We have a hotel reservations walking distance from Piazzale Roma which also offers a bus to Venice Airport at the end of our trip. Chioggia - Venezia Over 50 daily connections between Sottomarina, Chioggia and Venice Piazzale Roma. Runs every 15 minutes during the busiest times.www.arrivaveneto.it ›
  17. My 13" laptop doesn't fit in the safe but I have never had a problem. If you feel better lock it in a suitcase that you keep under your bed.
  18. Just rechecked Journey April 14,2023. An email received over a month ago indicated Chiogga and cruisemapper doesn’t show it there. Guess it will be a mystery port. Will be staying in Venice too for 3 days after the cruise.
  19. Venice has been a problem as you could be docking in one of several ports. "The line's four-ship fleet will access the Venetian Lagoon ports of Chioggia and Fusina". I would suggest you go on the port websites and see if the ship is listed. Good luck
  20. B2B Lisbon to Barcelona to Venice (Chioga) March-April 2023. a total of 22 days aboard the Journey in the same cabin. Have most of my excursions already chosen.
  21. Also try tripadvisor forums where I have found most of my pre and post cruise accommodations in the past. I recall staying in a B&B in the Recoleta area a decade ago but the property is not listed any longer. 15 minute cab ride to the cruise terminal.
  22. Not sure. Their URL goes to an Instagram advertisement. They have 111 reviews on google and also do tastings. I am researching for wine stores in major cities close to the ports on my next cruise. Should be able to find interesting wines that aren't exported to the U.S. Do some more research. On some port stops the wine stores have decent websites where you can preorder and have them hold for pickup.
  23. Try LaCava Wine Store which is close to the harbor. Pick up a bottle of Malbec too. Rodríguez Peña 1515, C1021 CABA, Argentina
  24. You may find the main dining room more suitable they have different items on the menu every night but also have some simple dishes. Easy to leave the sauce off a pasta or just olive oil, Romano cheese, garlic and basil. Be specific and the staff will try to accommodate you. The premium restaurants are trying to do fine dining with a smaller menu, beautifully plated and will be more intricate recipes.
  25. Was on the Pursuit this year. Best library of travel books you will find. Used them in planning my 2023 trip. On Celebrity the Casino was a place we walked through to get to another area of the ship. We aren’t gamblers.
