  1. That screen is all the way up. The only other thing above it is my booking number and cruise. Yes, I've tried it multiple times, including going back, logging out, restarting. That's what I get each time.
  2. Can anyone explain how this works? I have asked a few times in other places and don't seem to get an answer (although I have seen people mention to use it). Is there anything you have to do on the Uber app when in Mexico? Switch it from US$ to peso? If not, does it give you the amount in US?
  3. It only gives the option of credit card or paypal.
  4. I just purchased some of the AARP gift cards and wanted to pay for our gratuities prior to cruising and the only option it is giving me to pay for it is either using a credit card or paypal. How do I add the AARP gift card on there to pay?
  5. So I just purchased some from AARP. How do I add it to my account to pay for my gratuities before boarding? I only see the option to use a credit card or paypal to pay for it?
  6. @back to the islands Here's a playlist I have of all our dives (I just recently over the last couple of years started making a full video of our dives so some of the older ones are just clips) and we have enjoyed each one of them. Of course a lot of them we didn't record and just took pictures in the beginning because we didn't have our GoPros. MY DIVE LIST
  7. Thanks so much! The swarm of fish were Horse eye Jacks. They were amazing! No, you do not have to be certified to dive if you do the Discover Scuba Dive. It is for people who want to try diving before getting certified and you can do it anywhere (we've never gotten certified but do the Discover Scuba in at least one of the ports we cruise to and on land vacations each time and as I've said, we've done 21 dives so far). You do a short class that explains the diving and equipment. They go over all the safety stuff about breathing, hand signals, clearing your ears, compression, and they teach you different skills and how to do them (like removing your regulator, clearing your mask, using the bcd to inflate/deflate your air and so on). Then after the class, you will go into the water (sometimes the ocean, sometimes a pool) and practice these skills you learned. Once you have accomplished this, then they take you on your dive. You will have your instructor with you the entire time, watching over you and making sure you are comfortable and not experiencing any issues. You are only allowed to go 40' down when you are not certified (but we have been on dives we managed to go down almost 70'...oops). You usually stay out there around 40-60 minutes. So, you wouldn't be able to stay longer than the dive instructor allows and they keep a constant watch on your air. Sometimes the amount of time you stay down depends on your air consumption. The faster you breathe the more air you use. Since we have done it so often, we have learned to regulate our breathing and our air usually last pretty long. They are your "guide" while under the water and you follow them...so distracted as you may get, you are still with your guide. 🙂 I'm not sure about the claustrophobic comment since you are out in the open ocean and not enclosed. 🤷‍♀️ Sakari was a mermaid for so many years (we miss it) and had 8 different tails (I think it was). When covid hit, she sorta grew out of it and as much as I miss her little mermaid swims, I think those days are long gone (although she pulled her last tail out the other night and was showing her boyfriend lol). As for diving down while snorkeling and being buoyant (while being able to dive in your pool), the reason for that is that you are in salt water. You float better in salt water, which makes it harder to dive down when snorkeling (or stay down and you quickly float back up). Salt water is much denser than fresh water. Other factors are your weight. The bigger you are the more buoyant you are in the ocean. When you dive, your instructor will put weights in your bcd (the "jacket" you wear for scuba) or in a weight belt. This will allow you to go down. The instructor will adjust the weights as needed (if you sink too much or float too much. No worries about that during diving. I really hope you give it a shot some day. It's an amazing world under the water and why we have grown to love it so much. So many things you will see that you won't probably ever get a chance to see by just snorkeling. If you love taking pictures while snorkeling, you will be amazed at all the pictures when you are up close diving beside them. There are so many other places that are great for diving doing a Discover Scuba Dive as well. Maybe you'll get addicted to it like me. 😄 Oh, the other thing is, with your hubby being certified, he would still be able to tag along with you on the dive (just wouldn't require the class of course). You'd get to dive together. 🙂
  8. Thanks and yes she is all grown up now. Yes, they do have carts taking you back and forth from the ship. We did not use the lockers. Sorry I can't comment on that. We just left our bags by our chairs.
  9. Just my thoughts...Costa Maya isn't really a great place to snorkel from the beach. We used to go at the very beginning (by the lighthouse) to Blue Kay and it had great snorkeling, in very shallow-like water, and there was a lot to see. We went there several times over and over and loved it with each visit. However, it has changed a lot over the years (it used to be a very beautiful beach with not much activity) but they have evolved a lot and built more and more and now it pretty much feels like every other beach club. The last time we went, last year, I couldn't even find that great snorkeling I had found before. So...not sure what's going on there. We are not certified to dive, but do the Discover Scuba Dives every time we are on vacation (we have done 21 DSD so far all over the Caribbean). Last year, we decided to do a DSD in Costa Maya. We went with Pepe Dive, which is located right on the Malecon. I was pleasantly surprised how good the reef/dive was. I went in not expecting much because I know the snorkeling isn't that great. You should give it a try! We love it! HERE is a review, with tons of pictures, of our dive with them last year.
  10. We used Happy Divers before and they were great! They took us to Mangel Halto and it was a great reef. I think they are located in that area so you might go there. HERE is our dive with them if you are interested (we are not certified, but have done 21 Discover Scuba Dives). We love that area and went to a shipwreck. Happy Divers also took pictures of us while diving (we always take our own pictures as well of course)
  11. Where are you doing your dive at? We LOVED Mangel Halto for diving. It was amazing! If you have a rental, I suggest (if you don't have service or don't want to pay for service) download the MapsMe app. I use this everywhere we go and it don't require internet service. We pre mark every place we'd like to visit on the map and all you have to do is click where you want to go and it will give you directions.
  12. We were there during these times and the only thing open that early was the coffee shop. We went on a private excursion...of course by the time we returned, everything was open.
  13. Wait, you didn't go diving in Roatan? I was hoping to see a dive video. Tabyana is beautiful and great video Robin!
  14. We went to the falls a few months ago and had a blast. (It's a lot of walking up stairs once you get closer to the falls but so worth it). We were definitely looking for something "different" to do, but then again we are not the "touristy" type of people that enjoy just driving around looking at the city. We like action and the falls is definitely action. lol HERE is my review of it here on cruise critic with tons of pictures. The actual pick up for the tour starts at post #81
  15. You leave them on the boat. I have never been on any boat excursion where they lock things up. The boat will be right there where you are at. There's someone on the boat (usually the captain) that watches things.
  16. Yes, they have fins and masks available right on the dock where you snorkel. We love DePalm Island and the snorkeling is amazing. The last time we went we tried the Snuba and it was even more amazing. Pictures of our day HERE. Another fun thing to do there is their SeaTrek. We love to do these where ever they have one in the Caribbean and have found that Aruba (at Depalm) has the best so far. They gave the best experience compared to any other place in the Caribbean. HERE (You will find snorkeling pictures there as well). Have fun and enjoy your day there.
  17. We love the animal places and our favorite is Philips Animal Garden and we go each time we stay in Aruba. The Butterfly Farm doesn't take long. The guides give a little educational talk and then you look around. The Ostrich Farm is interesting...especially when you feed them. Donkey Sanctuary as well. But we always spend more time at Philips because there's more to see and it's bigger. I have reviews with tons of pictures of all of them. You can find them HERE. Maybe that will help.
  18. Great video! It looks very educational and interesting Robin. 😊
  19. So glad you had a wonderful time at both. 😊
  20. I can only answer that yes there is an entire parking lot and I did not see a place collecting money to park there.
  21. Can anyone comment on the Rhythms of the Night Excursion with some details? I know a lot of people love this tour but there are a bunch of bad reviews as well. People have reported sitting in flimsy lawn chairs that have tipped over during the boat ride there, sustaining injuries. Also that the chairs for the show have no bad and are hard. How long does the show last? Any comments on the food? (Reports that it is terrible). With a departure time of 3:15pm, if we did another excursion, what time would we need to be back from that? Where do they depart from? Do you have to be on the ship and walk off with them to go on this tour or do you meet outside on the dock? Does the boat pick you up directly from the port or they take you over to Vallarta Adventures dock to get on? Do you think 2 active teenagers would enjoy this? I'm worried about spending so much money and them thinking it was boring because they are not participating in anything. I know that this show is put on by Vallarta Adventures but Carnival is charging $179.99/pp and VA only charges $125/pp. I assume they would not let you book on your own. But that's a heck of a price jump for Carnival compared to what they actually charge. Isn't there some type of money guarantee that Carnival does if the price is cheaper? How does that work?
  22. Enjoy your time in Aruba. It's a beautiful paradise!
  23. I honestly don't remember if we brought some with us off the ship or we stopped somewhere to get some along the way. I do have a collapsible soft cooler that I used to take with us at times, so it's possible I brought them with us. I wish I could remember for you.
