  1. On Ascent, February 2024, ate there everyday for lunch (Royal Suite perk). Staff was amazing and food was excellent! Daytime specialty dining is such a treat and I wish they did this on the M & S class ships. As a side note, the escargot was served in such a different way than main dining & if you really enjoy escargot you should try it.
  2. I forgot to mention, we are back on Eclipse next fall (2024) in another Royal Suite and very much looking forward to it!
  3. We were in 1239. The furnishings were a little older, but not uncomfortable. We are a couple who spend a lot of time in the room and we remember the living space being really nice to hang out in. I am one of the few people who uses the balcony bathtub and I really enjoyed that as well. A few afternoons my husband would fall asleep on the lounger while I was relaxing in the tub. I personally love the Royal Suites (not the E-Class, which I just experienced recently). I would never have any doubts about upgrading! Our first Royal Suite was on Infinity, 3 weeks after she went back into service after Covid, and we had an amazing time, so maybe we are easy to please, but they are some of the best suites at sea!
  4. We were in a Royal Suite on Eclipse in October 2023. It was lovely! Any particular questions or concerns I would be happy to try to answer.
  5. I booked this for my cruise coming up in May. I booked it directly through AlaskaTravel.com. With the Gold Star you get breakfast and 2 adult beverages. It is rather pricey. We paid $430 for 2 people, but we think it’ll be a nice way to get to Seward.
  6. Equinox, but it might be because of the itinerary to the ABC islands and the excellent bartenders at World Class Bar. For transparency we have stayed in Royal suites on every class and the S-class suite is our favorite. My husband and are mid-forties and after 12 cruises we have learned we are fans of on an older, smaller cruise ship. We actually liked Michael’s club on Infinity with all the dark wood, that is now gone. Our suite on Ascent, while beautiful and spacious indoors, has lost at least half the balcony and there are no lounge chairs or table to eat at which the other classes have. Ascent is gorgeous and I wanted to try this class once. It’s not for us, but I can understand why others love it and they should!
  7. Yes, Eclipse, Equinox, Solstice & Infinity.
  8. I’m on Ascent right now and I thought I was crazy, but I feel the same was as the OP. The additional pain is that we are in a suite and sadly it isn’t living up to the hype. I miss my bigger balcony, my smaller Luminae and the less busy World Class Bar. Beautiful ship, but now I know it’s not for me.
  9. Just ate at Rooftop on Ascent last night. We were at sea and it was windy and cold, but they handed out blankets to keep us warm. My husband wore his winter jacket and he was comfortable. It is the most casual of the specialty restaurants so you can wear what will keep you comfortable. We enjoyed our meal, but I could see how some people might not enjoy the wind. We didn’t have steak, but we agreed the overall meal was better than Fine Cut which we ate at the night before.
  10. The only ships I have been on in a Royal Suite: Infinity, Solstice, Equinox & Eclipse the bed was able to be separated. Not sure about E class, but I’ll know next month.
  11. Happy to help! Made for a fun morning activity. 😊
  12. Here is the Land & Sea lunch at Tuscan These menus are for the Eclipse 10/28 sailing and may vary by ship.
  13. I’ve already told my husband we are staying at the Paros Agnanti! It looked absolutely stunning. Thank you for the links! I’ve bookmarked your website for future reference. I’ve been feeling overwhelmed about planning Japan and it’s nice to have as much information and ideas as I can.
  14. Thank you for this in depth review of your trip! My husband and I will be doing the same cruise next summer on Infinity and because of you we are going to add on a trip to Paros as well. I’m excited to read about your cruise to Japan, because we have the same cruise booked for April 2025, and if you’re as thorough with that review, we will definitely get some great ideas for things to do. Your kindness in sharing all of this information is invaluable and definitely reminds me why I spend time on CruiseCritic. Thanks again!
  15. The fact that you have been on a lot of cruises, I knew you would forgive Infinity for her faults! I think one of the great things about taking an older, smaller ship around the Mediterranean is that it will be easier to get on and off, especially for tender ports. I have taken mostly Royal cruises, but have (since last summer) switched to Celebrity and I agree that the storage spaces on the older ships is wonderful (talking as a woman who likes to overpack!). Your pictures are beautiful and I’m looking forward to seeing what you get up too! This is definitely an itinerary that I will look for in the future.
  16. Infinity was my first Celebrity cruise last summer. We were on her 3rd cruise after restart and we were nervous, because of negative reviews, but we had a wonderful time. She is older, but honestly that is part of the charm. I’ll be cruising her next summer around the Greek Isles (Athens to Athens) very port intensive, and am very looking forward to it. As long as you aren’t expecting an Edge class experience you should be fine. Following along, because this looks like a great itinerary! Have a wonderful cruise!
  17. We are sailing on Quantum in July and it will also be our first time on this class of ship. Thanks for taking us along and I look forward to learning the ship with you. Have a great trip!
  18. Wow! Saw the title of this thread and had to check my July 10th cruise and poof glaciers and Juneau gone! This is crazy! We had a whale watching excursion in Juneau and if I don't get to see whales and glaciers why am I going on a cruise to Alaska?!
  19. I would be very interested in the comparison. We only book suites, never the very top suites yet, usually RS, but the price increase on Celebrity is making us look around, but I’m not sure what all is included on other cruise lines. One of the things we really like is having a separate restaurant and lounge and being able to eat at all the specialty restaurants. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and the extra costs of things not included. - April
  20. Sitting at the airport after having one of the best cruise experiences ever! Infinity turned out to be a pleasant surprise and I hope everyone else had a good time! Going to write a proper review when I get back home.
