  1. Solent Richard 21 Cruise Lines - WOW ! Didn't know there were that many .
  2. Glad to hear what I read was wrong . High tech !
  3. Perhaps but Cunard tech is by far the most primitive of any cruise line . The site is incredibly limited with very few functions such as Air booking . Their doesn't seem to be any app which is inexplicable . Things don't seem to get better once on board . You can't even see your folio I'm told ? OMG ! I mentioned some of this to a Cunard rep . She responded, "That's why we have great libraries".😱
  4. Me too. It's my first Cunard cruise. My dad use to go to London twice a year on this line, pre air. Different ship, different time but very excited.
  5. I get it and didn't mean to jump in . I'm married to, parent to or related to many kind people who have received what they didn't ordered and will not complain, except to their tablemates .🙄 I recognize the discomfort of sending something back and "spoiling" the meal and reserve this only for terrible, not moderate issues . To each his own .
  6. The $40 Winemakers Dinner on the Regal was truly the best value specialty meal I've ever enjoyed on a cruise ship . I'm out at $140 . Blood rare to medium is a HUGE overcook . It should be returned to the kitchen . My preference is medium rare and now order rare in all but high-end steak restaurants since so many places like ship steakhouses invariably over cook it .
  7. This benefit is a great but small bonus for being a loyal CCL passenger when a lot of of perks for being a repeat customer are reduced .It's limited to one per cabin though both DW and I have shares . We think of it as a little sweetener . Yes the debt load is huge but why would CCL increase the number of shares required and piss off repeat customers ? What's their debt have to do with dolling out this minor OBC ? Think of it as a marketing promotion .
  8. New equipment would be the "perfect" opportunity to introduce a fee for laundry machines. Hope not .
  9. Each person can receive the shareholder benefit . They must own 100 shares separately . For my upcoming cruise my TA offered to send in my request .
  10. We are not big drinkers but .... it seems Cunard doesn't enforce a strict carry-on liquor policy . So any issues bringing on a single bottle of vodka, a few bottle of wine plus sodas ? Oops . Forgot to update . Thanks for your suggestions and enthusiasm .
  11. Not to worry .Some are passive-aggressive . DW says I'm agressive-agressive . 😁This was part of a larger "discussion" with the waitstaff . What I also requested and then requested harder was creme brulee which I got the next night . It did seem like there were more unneeded discussions on this cruise then usual . The food was still good although missing stuff like shrimp cocktails, steak and the aforementioned creme brulee and Indian food . Edited to say always polite and then polite and then assertive but polite and then not quite so polite .
  12. It was a lot of blah blah blah covid . We had a new table with new waitstaff most every night . Not ideal and not our choice . Maybe he figured he wouldn't see us again . At least the MDR food was good .
  13. On my December Nieuw Amsterdam cruise the waiter did everything possible to dissuade me from ordering from the Indian menu . I didn't bother to escalate the issue so no roti for me . 😞 I remember an extra charge for an entrée but don't remember a charge for a second appetizer . Is this new or did I miss it ?
  14. But does that money go to the general tip fund or specific individuals . Not that it's a problem either way .
  15. I was on the phone with Cunard . I asked a few questions specifically about the ship app . The agent said "Not so such. That's why we have a huge library" 🤣 Thanks for all the great tips . Any more ? July 27th - 11 days
  16. We've been on six other cruise lines in the last dozen years but have no idea what to expect on this summer's QE Alaskan cruise . I'm sorry there is no Cunard for Dummies like on the CC's HAL site as I have lots of questions . 1) Are the pools heated? 2)Can you bring on multiple bottles of wine , and soda , and god-forbid vodka ? (Asking for a friend) 3)Can we use our OBC in the casino ? 4) Food recommendations (aside from afternoon tea which looks amazing). 5)What can you do with the Cunard app ? Is it anything like HAL which gives you access to multiple newspapers and magazines or Princess that has many many cool features, when they work . 6)Is there a way to book flights on-line or must you call Cunard . 7)How's the steak restaurant ? Worth it ? 8)Cunard excursions or go with private tours? And most importantly 9)Any tips or advice to impart on food, entertainment, cabin info or anything else . And not a single evening dress question . 😊 Thank you Richard
  17. Thank you . I'm OK either way . I was hoping for more reno's to the ship as those listed are mostly mechanical and not sprucing up changes . Updates would be good .
  18. I looked for info on whether the Queen Elizabeth is currently in drydock . Facebook QE group says the ship is in a Singapore dockyard for 16 days. Any info ? It would be nice if true . Edited to say Updates would be nice . Cruisetimetables.com has a gap between cruises from March 17th to April 3rd .
  19. We are considering a Q E cruise this summer . I was amazed to find there are 4 MDR's based on cabin class . Is there any difference in the dress codes in each ?
  20. I booked an excursion prior to boarding . Once on board we went to the excursion people and asked to cancel, crediting my CC and then rebook using OBC . They did so which was very nice .Can't guarantee they will always do so.
  21. I'm pretty anti smoking but it is dishonest to claim smokers and their travel companions make up a tiny insignificant population of 25 - Seriously ?
  22. Six months in 185 sq foot rectangle ? I won't say not if you paid me so how about not for a fraction of what they are asking . NO NO NO !
