  1. We met the Captain on entering for The Peninsular Club luncheon but there were no hand shakes or photos.
  2. Never had any problem using app/webpage for joining virtual queue for breakfast and dinner in MDR and only took seconds. By the time we had got the lift and headed towards MDR we were told table was ready. Never used MDR for lunch but one suggestion is you can use Keel & Cow for breakfast but was an extra small charge but better choice and quality.
  3. Depends on ship as Iona and Arvia operate differently. You couldn't book Iona MDRs before the cruise and if you did want to join the virtual queue it didn't open until 5-15pm otherwise just turn up which never seemed a problem.
  4. We usually do that but on our recent Iona cruise I kept an eye on prices and cancelled the cruise then booked the same cruise again in a better cabin for a far cheaper price and massive amount of OBC.
  5. We were on Iona last week and had no problem with MDR booking. We just joined virtual queue before leaving cabin and by the time we got too MDR we had been informed that our table was ready. The times varied during the cruise and there was many who turned up without booking in virtual queue and all they were asked was if they wanted a table for 2 or happy to share and nobody was turned away. It worked very well with no queues at MDR like on Princess.
  6. Anyone ever booked Club Balcony on QM2 and did they have any issues with noise from sports centre above. Also worried about movement as they are high on decks 12 and 13.
  7. We didn't like the two smaller ones Aqua and Opal they seemed very dark and claustrophobic. Much preferred Pearl and Coral but that is only personal opinion. We joined virtual queue and chose a table for 2 every night. We joined the virtual queue as we left our stateroom and by the time we had got the lift we had buzzer saying our table was ready. Only 2 occasions did we have to wait and it was no more than 10 minutes. Very impressive.
  8. Certainly not the case for US cruiser's who book QG/PG as they get a free drinks package and free gratuities and have done for some time, which UK cruiser's don't get.
  9. The holiday app on Iona that is free didn't work ,a lot of the time so would not pay £12 per day for internet onboard. Not that desperate to have internet and was nice to not have it for a fortnight.
  10. We struggled with amount we had last week on Iona which was what was given by P&O when booked and Shareholder benefit. Not big drinker's but did buy some at night and bottles of wine on formal nights, don't do excursions so was a real struggle. Ended up buying items on last day that would normally never buy.
  11. There were at least 2 options of vegetarian main courses in MDR on Iona last week and should imagine the same would be available across the fleet. There were also vegetarian options in buffet.
  12. That is one reason I would never book online direct and use a specialist cruise TA on top of the fact you would get a cheaper fare.
  13. That explains why they are still allowing US cruiser's to purchase FCDs given them extra OBC. Also when booking a Grill suite they get free drinks package and gratuities which you don't when booking in the UK. With recent announcement of increasing gratuity prices it is leaving a very sour taste in my mouth regarding booking future cruises with Cunard. It is plainly obvious they would prefer US cruiser's onboard than UK cruiser's with the preferential prices and service they get.
  14. End of the day you have got to like or want to watch the performer in Limelight Club as prices can be as much as £35pp which is not cheap.
  15. We didn't fancy Sam Bailey or Kevin Simm.
  16. Never got as far as looking at the meals in Limelight on Iona as was not interested in the acts we were being asked to pay to see.
  17. We have just returned earlier today from 14 nt cruise and had 2 formal nights so should imagine for 7nts it would be one.
  18. We returned from Iona this morning and the only speciality restaurants available to book prior to boarding was Epicurean, Sindhu and Limelight Club. All available to book 14 days before cruise, We booked Epicurean which was £28pp but because booking in advance they give you a £4pp discount and we have 10% loyalty club benefit so ended up at £21-60pp and was excellent, Sindhu you pay a deposit of £10pp and then when you have your meal all dishes are individually priced and because you have booked in advance they give you a 20% discount and then deduct £10pp already paid. Limelight Club we were not interested in booking but do know that Lee Mead was on the first night of the following cruise and was £35pp. Olive Grove no cover charge but some dishes have supplement and was excellent. Beach House has a cover charge of £9-50pp and some dishes extra supplement and we were very disappointed and didnt think it value for money.
  19. If it was a similar cruise and itinerary then it would be QM2 for me every time. Dont worry about BoB too much we have returned today on P&O Iona and had a relatively smooth crossing both ways.
  20. Just returned today from 14 nts on Iona and would be happy to give any up to date info or help. Will give a more detailed post about cruise later good and bad. Will surprise many including myself IMO there was not much bad and has more than likely been posted by others.
  21. We are Caribbean and we have priority boarding on Iona tomorrow of 12 noon.
