  1. Opening times can vary by ship, perhaps by general manager and/or maitre d'. Candles opened at 6:45 on Pride during the 36 days we cruised her this fall.
  2. 25-30 portable fans were brought onboard in St. Bart's on October 31.
  3. Veal chops were available at least until November 2. With 260 on board and the outside area of Veranda closed due to cold weather in Greenland, Labrador, etc., Veranda was packed and people were carrying plates of food waiting for a table to open. Shortage of wait staff precluded opening Amphora for breakfast or lunch. Not an issue, of course, in the Caribbean. Hotel manager Andreas said he would insist on additional wait staff if he's onboard for the 2023 Iceland/Greenland cruises.
  4. There were four of us flying in, and we had the Intercontinental send a car to the airport for us...for a fee, of course.
  5. Just over a mile from Tahiti airport to the Intercontinental.
  6. Sorry, Red, but I don't buy what you're saying. Someone can enjoy a cruise line and still prefer to see something about it changed. The "if you don't like everything about cruise line A, just go somewhere else" attitude is just silly. One can "accept" something and live with it, but still wish it would be changed. I've cruised at least ten cruise lines and haven't found one where I haven't found something I'd like to see changed. And I don't expect to ever find one. But I have found a few that suit me best, and that's what matters..
  7. A biased wording of the choices invalidates this poll.
  8. Not sure why this topic even deserves a thread, and I regret that it was started. Phil's posting above puts the matter perfectly. The butler issue was raised primarily because someone didn't get the dinner reservations he or she wanted...for a perfectly legitimate reason. Then people piled on without naming any specific issues with their butlers. Let's kill this thread soon. It serves no purpose. Azamara will decide on whether it wants butlers and a few persistent complainers here shouldn't and won't influence any decision. My vote: Keep the butlers, as some use them productively while others don't bother...a personal decision.
  9. One does wonder just what it is that some here expected from their butlers when they booked their suite. Brush them off after choosing their outfits and dressing them for dinner? Hang their clothes up in their closets for them at bedtime? Press the creases back in their pants overnight? Cut off the tip and light their cigars, taking the first few puffs to ensure the cigar stays lit? Interesting that it's always the same crowd that piles on whenever someone raises a complaint, legitimate or not.
  10. I've always been satisfied with our butlers. Maybe because I have correct, realistic expectations about the making and availability of specialty restaurant reservations. I still see little specific here indicating that Azamara has "grossly misrepresented" butler service.
  11. You seemed to be blaming the butler for not getting all the dates and times you asked for. If enough others booked those dates and times earlier, there's nothing the butler could do. The butler's and the restaurant manager's responses were correct. The dining component of the suite package is that it is without charge, and the butler can make reservations for you if the dates and times you ask for are still available. Specialty restaurants are not exclusively for suites, thankfully. They are open to everyone, and are popular.
  12. Please, no music at breakfast. Good grief. Suite passengers are not entitled to dine every night in specialty restaurants. They make reservations, first come first served, just like everyone else. The difference is that suite passengers are not charged additional for dining there.
  13. They won't unless enough people give them that message.
  14. Why do you think N1 locations are better? We much prefer N2 where you are not under the pool area or The Patio.
  15. Last night I counted more than 50 people in line at 6:50 waiting for Amphora to open...on an overnight port day. Couples were seated at four-tops when two-tops were gone.
  16. Still few masks on Pride. Haven't seen any folding tray tables outside rooms.
  17. Lanzarote was our favorite. Timanfaya National Park and the Cesar Manrique places.
  18. Same thing on two September Pride cruises, but not near Med Center. Also saw passengers with luggage being escorted off the ship followed by a cloud of sprayed disinfectant.
  19. My understanding was your level was a tiebreaker in case bids were the same. So worth $0.01.

    Masks off!

On a Windstar ship now. Captain tested positive last night. Crew masked. Caution still the rule.
  21. Ocean Suite is ideal for doing the Panama or Kiel Canal, sailing into Kotor or Venice, going in or out of the Seine or Guadalquivir, etc. Only location where you can see forward and not be behind glass.
